Consoles don't always have better graphics and computers support all types of files and formats, why is the music midi, a crappy one at that.

Just by watching it, you can tell that the gameplay sucks, no matter if it's on a console or not

icyglare, it's just a cheap and small DOS game, a platformer at that. If I remember correctly the whole data took about 2 floppy disks. On top of that, "midi music" was kinda the standard for most small PC DOS games at that time (1996).

So yeah, understanding the "why's" is just a short walk on the computer games' memory lane I guess :)

Why?They do have better graphics.Take a game with PC and console version.Console version has way better graphics.That's one of the reasons why there are so few console emulators.For example PS.There are only PS1-emulators that work fine.PS2 - still in progress.PS3 - way too complicated and difficult to work on the PCs nowadays.Next time think about it before falling of your chair ;)

Don't need to think about it that much as I'm a game and software developer, i.e. a guy that actually KNOWS how these things work. Because trying to reverse-engineer hardware isn't THAT EASY, writing emulators of current-gen consoles also isn't a fast process (also, take into account that all the emu developers don't earn anything from their hard work). That and the fact that current-gen consoles are almost as fast as PC's and the emulating platform needs to be at least twice as powerful...

...for the emulation to be pretty stable with accepting speeds. I remember how slow it was running a PSX emu on a PII 400 CPU with a Riva TNT grapchis card, even though the PSX has less RAM than the SNES for example. Anyway, gaming consoles have different hardware architectures than PC's do and that's the hard part. It's not like comparing specs of a PC CPU and a console CPU and saying "yeah, they have the same GHz count so they must be equally fast" :D.

In 1996, games like Civilization 2, Donkey Kong Country 3, Duke Nukem 3D, and Lunar Silver Star Story PSX came out. The year it was made it's not an excuse to be a bad game

Oh, sorry Mr. Genius :)I don't think you've even played it.The graphics wasn't the essential thing back in the old times.And the comparison you made...There is nothing in common with Duke Nukem 3D and Civ for example with this game.How can you even compare a 2.5D FPS with a side-scrolling comic-made platforemer O_O

Noticed you didn't say anything about the comparison to Donkey Kong.

It's not because of the graphics because they are good; Not bad, not great either. The music is a bad midi and repeats often and you can tell by watching that the gameplay is bad
