Bong sao should not be used as an initial block, you should be attacking and using something else if you know the punch is coming but if it's just pure reaction then the bong will have to do. I hope he let's his students know the difference because if not your giving your opponent a bridge and your be in for a hiding WSL teaches you this!
GS: In terms of this particular technique, I agree with you one hundred percent. JKD instructors such as Jeremy Lynch would have flowed from the boang sao to a scoop kick and sent his opponents family jewels into his lower abdomen. For the most part, I think that Sifu Davis puts a great emphasis on simplicity, but he seems to stray from that philosophy in this video.
Dude, the purpose of this "drill" is to focus on the bong sao not the follow up move that would be used. I have trained with Lamar for 2 years and can guarentee that their are multiple combinations that could be used with the bong sao and he is quite comfortable with the scoop kick. I cannot believe you guys pick someone apart from a small clip. Simplicity and economy of motion is something that Sifu Davis teaches.
My question is this. If you boang sao and send the hand as high as Davis manages here, why bother with lop sao as you are reaching very high and exposing your tender vittles. Why not just erupt with a cross to the guys gut or face? Or a scoop kick to his groin? Where is the economy, oh where O where is the hitting?
wolfagot your just down right pathetic son think with your brain for once instead of your dick oh thats right you dont have one so i guess you dont think at all that explains everything
p.s. cant wait to see you in person so i could punch your face through the back of you head
