Well, because of the Daylight Savings Time switchover, there were a lot of tech troubles. And because the VCR was messed up, they all believed the show wasn't being recorded. And so they announced that this would be the "Lost Show" since it wouldn't be recorded. I happen to have it because I forgot the show wasn't recorded and downloaded it anyway. Turns out it was recording the entire time :p
From what I heard, the VCR which makes the studio archive copy is what was not recording. They still got the recording from the MPEG stream. But since it is lower quality than the direct recording, replaying it in the future will make it even lower quality.
