  • For me, full epicness starts at 0:47

  • This song is rock.

  • To enjoy this tune 100%, find a sword.

  • Just one thing to say: EPIC! Lufia definitely is one of the best RPGs! Still lovin' the 16-Bit-RPGs.

  • Wow this game is mad old but one of my favorite

  • In the old testament, these words were written

""On the sixth day, God created the SNES Emulators.

On the seventh, he rested satisfied"""

  • Lufia 2 was the last SNES game I ever bought.

  • @dopefisher It got out one month before the N64 was release, both in North America... people didn't bother buying SNES games anymore saving money for the next big thing. That's the reason why Lufia 2 went unnoticed, no matter how great and perfect the game was really.

  • @devouringone3 yes i remember, i bought it full price when it came out :D

  • @dopefisher Those original cartridges will be gaining value as a rarity pretty soon (it has begun for many games already), even though it's a primitive technology used for a freely downloadable game.

If you prefer stuff over money, you did well, even if you paid much for it ;). The last good game that got out on the SNES probably... this late, like I said ;).

  • 18 years ago?!?!? I am having a minor panic attack!!

  • i also like how the ehro is holding lufia.. hell i just noticed that lol

  • @SelmerDefender hero*

  • @SelmerDefender i think you need to learn the story lol, youve got it all wrong.

  • The dual blade looks so freakin epic in the cover

  • @JenovaMember I have to agree that this is better. it has a louder drum beat that makes it more epic

  • @alkyalk that is not maxim, that is the hero

  • @LeMelleKH2 But Maxim is a hero :D

  • @SelmerDefender I meant the one on this cover

  • Maxim's nose

  • Jerin looks SOOOO badass on the cover, too bad shes only like what was it? Between 13 and 15 or something? The chick on the cover looks like a badass 20 y/o anime character lol.

  • @TheBlacksiphon Hero was 17, Lufia was 16, Aguro was 20 and Jerin was 28 but looked like 14

  • Oh how this song captured my soul when I was but a wee lad...

  • I have to say that Lufia's "Last Duel" is a lot better than Lufia II's. :D

  • This is just epic. I think it's the most memorable tune of that generation. As much as I love my FF6, FF4, and Chrono Trigger midis this is the tune I'll catch myself humming in the shower, it is just so amazing :)

  • "Battle in the Opening Story" <------ Isn't it amazing what have been reasons for buying & advertising a game back then? I mean, imagine THIS advertise on a TODAYS game xD

But Lufia 1 is an awesome game, I still need to beat it somdeday ^^ Awesome Music & Story & Atmosphere :)

  • @Justforvisit

I just beat it about an hour ago and I'm glad that I finally did. It's a decent game, but it can get on your nerves after a while with all of the random encounters. Not sure if I'll give it a second playthrough, but it'll be A WHILE before I do.

  • @JenovaMember Hehe, I still have to and yeah, but that isn't a thing you can't specify on Lufia, almost AL old RPG's had this random encounter system. Lufia II was even going new ways there, as one of very few games of it's time.

  • @Justforvisit

Oh, no, I don't mind random encounters (I love them). The problem was Lufia seemed to have way too many... Let me give you a tip. NEVER use Foul Water... Literally every step you take will be a random encounter until it wears off. I know they're good for grinding, but there's really no need to. I beat the final boss with Hero at LV50 and the others a little bit under.

  • @Justforvisit

By the way, how far are you?

  • @JenovaMember Need to start it all from the very start again...^^

  • @Justforvisit

Ah, okay. Believe it or not, I actually started from the beginning again the other day. I know I said I was probably never going to do another playthrough, but I just felt compelled to. The best thing about the beginning is you get to hear this awesome track! :)

  • FUCKING GREAT!!!

  • i like how Lufia's box cover has all the characters on it. Breath of Fire did this too which was unique, except that game was a bore compared to Lufia.

  • Great.

  • One of the best songs ever, and such a creative way to start out a game, it was very ahead of it's time.

  • @neoasura

I consider this the best final dungeon music of any game EVER. I also liked the underwater version alot too.

  • Lufia 1 & 2 are among my absolut favorite RPGs.

The SNES has some really amazing RPGs.

  • this was the first rpg i ever play i hope they make a remake of this to and make it how it is and don't change it at all

  • @dhxstm They are making a new Lufia for DS... but I hear they are changing things :(

  • @JohnBoy013 yea it the remake of part 2 not 1

  • @JohnBoy013

I'm at the final boss for the remake (its a remake of Estopolis 2 with Maxim). It's alright, but its way too short compared to the original. Selena and Maxim are married like 6 hours into the game and I'm at the floating island (last dungeon) in 15 hours.

  • I wish the Genesis port wasn't canned. I would love to have heard what this game's amazing soundtrack sounds like with the Genesis' gritty sound chip.

  • I finished the sheet music for this, who wants it? please don't be a dunderhead and ensure you give me your email

  • i just got this game at amazon for ten bucks about a month ago. and holy crap this game is epic

  • I was in awe the first time i heard this as a kid, one of the all-time best dungeon tracks hands down

  • Holy shit this brings back memories

  • They sure don't make games like they used to.

  • Oh the nostalgia...............

  • man Maxip(what i name'd Maxim's descendant's name) look's kinda weird in the boxart so doe's lufia T.T but i guess that's the epicness of a NA Boxart look's weird but still kinda pwn's

  • @mariox901

they don't look like giddy teenagers, if that's what you mean by weird.

  • Maxim's descendant does look unusual for an anime character.

He's powerfully built and muscular whereas many main characters in JRPG's are lean and I guess looks a little more like teenagers.

  • that's what i mean in the game they aren't with muscle's it's kinda weird lol but it's ok

  • it wasn't until they made the ps1 and 64 is when they used anime boxart's

  • Well, the art style in the cover is more reminiscient of older anime IMO.

The newer anime heroes tend to look I guess "pretty" and fine boned, whereas older anime heroes tend to look powerful and muscular. Maxim''s grandson looks like a man's man, whereas Maxim looks like a gentleman duelist kind of guy. :p

  • Yah...plus Guy was very athletic so it makes sense for him to live so long...

  • This is the best midi ever!!!!!!!!

  • Just finished a piano arrangement of this, and it is awesome lol. Can also be used for jazz band, give me a shout if you want it. Also see mine for Xenogears, Wild Arms, Suikoden and FF Tactics

  • -I first played lufia 2 but i never played the first, my friend says that in the first one you play as the son of maxim who died along his wife in the second one, i dont know like i said i just played the second one.

  • @ddduelist

Well, it isn't his son, it's one of his descendents. This game takes place 99 years after Lufia II, and Jeros is already born in that game. The protagonist in this game is younger, so it wouldn't make sense that it's his son. I think it's Maxim's grandson or even great-grandson. I dunno.

  • Haha in the picture on the box "Includes Battery Backup System" Sadly mine has died and I can no longer save games onto the cartridge....BUT THATS OK!! EMULATORS!! Thank God those exist.

  • @gmrpg2 Maybe im bit late on this, but i have the same problem, but i guess im just lazy cuz its easy to replace Battery =) but then again all saving would be lost take care!

  • @gmrpg2 LOL so has mine. I have no idea how to solder so I can't stick a new one in. Luckily its my double copy so I'm still good to play.

  • @gmrpg2 you can't change the battery for another?

  • @ZeroX1803 You can change the battery... if you know how to solder. Its a battery built into the games chip. It can be done, but I'll just not risk breaking my copy and stick with emulators. Its legal because I own the game!

  • @gmrpg2 Well mine still works along with my SNES and you can't beat playing on an original controller either! One of the most underrated games EVER!

  • The first music in the game you encounter. All I can stammer is "EPIC!!"

  • @heyjo0205 Actually, it's the second. But you're right, it's epic.

  • @heyjo0205

First music you encounter in the game is the prologue scene of the island.

  • @heyjo0205 Gotta love Lufia music, my biggest gripe is with Lufia 2 and knowing how it ends essentially

  • @plebman182 I had the singular pleasure of playing Lufia 2 before I played Lufia 1.

  • Is it true there are no item descriptions in the game? When i press the X button to see spell descriptions it works, i get a text explaining the spell, but it doesnt work on items, is it supossed to be like this or is the ROM bugged?

  • Working as intended as far as I can remember. Try hitting select..if nothing then yah. I kinda forgot sorry - I should confirm this in a few.

  • I had this one bookmarked and now I know why. It is amazing how the great music manages to make up for the cloned plot even in the later games of the series.

  • First RPG I ever played...went to my local video store, saw this game, had NO idea what it is, picked it up....fell in love.

  • my first RPG as well. and i didn't know that you actually need to 'equip' a weapon to use it. haha... god, i love this game.

  • Hey operations1000, where did you learn about how Guy lived so long? Is that really true about the Sinistrals' energy influencing Maxim's team? That's pretty interesting.

  • It's a theory, stated in caps ;)

I'd actually just base it off them being super beings as well like the mermaid princess said in Lufia II, but that just seemed like a more logical theory than Arty effecting Guy's lifeline in any way.

  • This game is so awesome i love the lufia series!!!!!

  • Incredible song.

  • Aguru is Guy's great nephew and Jerin is Artea's grand daughter, maybe?

  • Whoa! Battery back up system?!!?

Oh and the song's pretty good as well.

  • I mean ASIDE from Daos being an egomanical douche he understands heh.

  • The Sinistrals also live a very long time..Erim apparently lives forever lol.

  • In other words in an RPG way "they aren't normal humans".

  • I think that it makes sense for Guy to be alive 99 years later. An old woman has been found to live to the age of 122 in Uzbekistan.

  • thats true. and also, guy was hella strong

  • How can Guy (who is a human) STILL be alive after 99 years when you meet him? It doesn't make sense.

  • floating islands dont make sense either..oh wait..its a game!

  • Guy is one of the chosen ones, they are influenced by Sinistrals energy which is basically Super Beings. If Maxim and Selan didn't die they woulda been alive too.

  • If Maxim and Selan didn't die they woulda been alive too.

    haha i think you´re right

  • Yah...they are all super beings afterall. Good or Evil is irrelavent to that fact and only human made perceptions, much like Daos was trying to explain to Maxim in Lufia 2. Erim is the only super being that realized this fully unfortunately, oh and maybe Sir Arek.

I'd assume Maxim woulda even lived longer than Selan & Guy since he was the 'chosen one'. They were all about 20's..Lufia's generation was younger (16-17) making them like 110-120.

  • You theory on Erim is interesting... are you suggesting that she shares energy with Maxim's decedants? It would explain why she has a thing for them lol.

  • I disagree. I think it's cooler to play Lufia 1 first just so you know how amazingly powerful Maxim was at the end of Lufia 2. I like how Maxim fought all these really tough ass enemies at the beggining and then you fight even harder ones when you get to where he is. SO COOL

  • Yah but because IMO Lufia II kills Lufia - playing Lufia II first makes you appreciate Lufia even though LufiaII is the superior game. Plus if you play Lufia I first there's no surprises for the better game (well when it comes to Sinistrals..still surprises but yanno). Erim doesn't become predictable till the 3rd one so either way there are surprises..I see your point about the prologue too but when you play II THEN I it's like your continuing your adventure..very badass.

  • They really should remake this game! I love how Maxim is really strong in the beggining fighting these tough enemies who he wastes and then it takes the whole game for you to get that strong too. What an EPIC game with EPIC music!

  • E

    P

    I

    C

  • my absolute favorite video game music of all time, bar none.

  • I liked this version much better than the sequals.

  • Yah me too, in Lufia II it sounds too watered down with too many beats added in but everything else music wise in Lufia II was brilliant compared to Lufia, especially the Sinistral Battle Music.

  • I loved lufia 1, I feel the dark, the passion of the final batle, the road of the end, Waiting for the death.

    THE MOMENT OF DESITIONS.

  • xD

    <3 Lufia series.

  • "It's so dark."

    "I feel the energy."

"A very dark energy. Beware, it's powerful!"

    "Selan, light magic."

    "As you wish."

  • Im so glad im not the only one who remembers the dialog in this game

  • I loved this game, even more than Lufia 2!

  • agreed

  • agreed too. Lufia 1 has more history!! and more sentiments

  • I miss these old covers and packages. SNES boxes used to be incredibly huge! Usually because a player's guide was included.

  • You also got to love when the box art seems nowhere near what the sprites look like in game. Which was just about every SNES game.

  • Battle in the opening story!

    A vast new RPG world!

    Includes battery-backup system!

    epic lulz

  • Great, but, plz, Never play lufia 1 before lufia 2; it fuxxing spoils the ENDING, and, believe me, that is one horrible thing to happen.

  • The developers made Lufia 2 after everyone played the first one. They did a great job with it as far as making it seem like you're experiencing it for the first time as you play. Knowing what's going to happen (or at least part of what's going to happen, as the game continues after the part shown in Lufia 1 ends) does not ruin the experience at all.

The added blast of nostalgia starting when the party enters Doom Island really helps.

  • Actually I played Lufia II first then Lufia and sure glad I did, it made the experience 100x better IMO. That's what a good prequel does.

  • And that is because Lufia II was such a better game than Lufia...if it wasn't than I wouldn't have had such a great time playing Lufia II first then Lufia I. But playing II first makes you appreciate I AND II all the better...call me lucky I guess then :P

  • It's so amazing... When it's all dark, Selan uses light magic and then a the song begins hahaha. One of my favorite rpg songs ever...

    No words.. haha

  • Yeah, it's an epic moment, cause you know shit's about to go down, and you have a feeling there's no way out, just forward and own those sinistrals!

  • may be old school but its fckin brilliant!!

  • sounds so old school. XD

    =)

  • This is the first song you hear in Lufia, after the intro sequence. It got me hooked right away! One of the best dungeon music ever made!

  • Awesome RPG.

Many hated it for its simplicity...but i love it!

  • LOVE THE F-ING FINAL DUNGEON MUSIC!!! THis and the opening theme

  • Wow another coincidence. I just started uploading lufia videos o.o and yeah to JZA1981 and any other confused players, when you begin a new game the intro begins and you play as Maxim, Selan, etc. in their own final battle.

  • "battle in the opening story" WTF does that mean???

awesome music selection tho dude, brings back some memories.

  • IIRC, the game starts out in the distant past and you are the Legendary heroes. I think the main guy is named Max, and I think that Lufia II is centered around these characters. I may be wrong on some details, but you basically start as these guys and defeat the end bosses in the fortress of Doom (Sinestrals or something like that.) They rise again throughout the course of the game. In not too many words, that's what "battle in the opening story means." :P

And good one SupraDarky. Love this.

  • I'm not trying to me an ass but its Maxim Selan Guy and Artie and it the beginning of Lufia 1 and there just 4 of the like 6 or 8 ppl that u use in the Lufia 2 game its 99 years in the past when this happens and spoiler... the main character in Lufia is like Maxim and Selan's grand or great grand son so that is why he has to defeat the Sinistrals they all kinda match with the Lufia 2 relationships

  • It also kinda makes an odd conflict that Guy is still alive fuckin 99 years later yet you meet him as Jeros's son likely which would be Maxim's grandson. That part makes no sense lol unless if Maxim and Selan didn't die they woulda been alive just as long too cuz of their energy...still kinda weird. Artea makes sense, but not Guy.

  • what do u mean u meet him as jeros's son i dont remember them saying nething about jeros in lufia 1 and guy was just a healthy man and when the sinistrels were defeated i think some of arty's life span effected him and maxim and selan died at doom island when it fell into the ocean thats why they arnt there but sence erim reancarnated the blood line was stronger in the main in lufia 1 not that any of that made sence message me if u want a further explanation

  • The consept of 'Jeros' wasn't created till the Lufia II but it's obvious the main hero isn't Jeros either since it's 99 years in the future, thus it's likely Jeros' son..how else would he be a decadant of Maxim? I don't think it was intended to be overly complicated since we never hear of the females besides Selan in the bloodline (Maxim nor heros mom).

Also Bloodlines don't get 'stronger' as it gets passed down, they become weaker. It's the same consept as taking pieces from a pie.

  • I was saying IF Maxim & Selan lived..your theory on Arty's life span effecting Guy makes no sense..it's more understandable of a THEORY that defeating the sinistrals with part of his energy made him live longer.

  • Man I love Lufia... Especially the music.

  • Was such a great game

  • Ah Lufia this sure brings a lot of memories

  • Is this a remix of the standard final battle theme, or is it something else?

  • It plays inside the Fortress of Doom, it's not a battle theme.

  • Okay, thanks for answering the question.
