Hey, everything worked good, the ringtone shows up in the ringtone section of my iPhone in iTunes (although it's greyed out and has a little sync icon on the left side) but when I go to change the ringtone for the contact I made it for, it's not in the ringtone library on my phone...any ideas? Yes I did click 'sync my iphone' under the 'file' tab. Not sure what else to do...

@dgreent10 either you are using an old mouse, or you have never used an apple mouse ;) if you have a more recent mouse you can use system prefs to activate right mouse. or you can hold ctrl and then click left mouse. good luck.

@Sniper6k You forgot to delete (BUT NOT TO TRASH) in iTunes. So rightclick 'Show in Finder', then rightclick 'Delete' but 'KEEP FILE', then open up the song in Finder that you previously let iTunes do, and double click the song, it will now make a Ringtones section to the left in iTunes and ur song will be added to it.

@CallMyNameJon Click on ur iPhone in the left toolbar, make sure its connected to power if ur using wireless syncing. Then go to the section Ringtones (This is new if its ur first time putting ringtones on ur device), then select the bar to sync ringtones too.

@dougmchugh1 I had the same problem! Make sure you do the aac version on 3 songs, I eventually got it.

@AngusCattapan Go to 'edit', 'preferences' and then import settings and change the MP3 option to ACC. Go back to the song, right click and you should see the 'convert to ACC' option.

If you search the app-store there are a lot of apps that make ringtones out of your MP3's. That's what I downloaded, and now I have the ringtone I wanted without all that iTunes stress :)

(I used a free app called "Ringtone Maker" by Zentertain, but there are many others too..)
