is there much of a difference between say a full thick triple rad or a quad rad and like dual 240rads one being 80mm thick and the other a 30mm thick I'm not looking for record temps really
Also he did not mentionned if he cleaned the inside of is radiator before the final coolant filling. Please don't do what he did. Fisrt assemble the cooling system outside, fill it up and test it. You see no leaks. install it inside your PC case. That the way everyone should do it.
PLZ sumone answer... Im gunna get a res/pump combo, does the tube have to go directly from the res/pump to the rad? When i think about it logically, the water has to be cooled before it goes to the components that you want cooled... right or not :S ??
Good video, very well explained. I am getting ready to set up my first h20 build so I have been reading a lot about it. I have heard, however, that it is not recommended to use dyes in your system. A lot of people seem to have had problems with it gunking up their waterblocks. Have you ever had that type of problem?
@TimeToLiveCustoms Speaking of Algae growth. Can you put in a chemical that they use for fish tanks to prevent the growth of Algae? Don't think it would corrode anything considering that fish tanks also have pumps/reservoirs, but would like to know your thoughts on that first. Thanks in advance.
@mgut17 depends what rad mate, they are all massively different. Youd 100% need a full sized (60mm thick) 360mm to cool those with what I would call acceptable temps and fan levels.
@Thingamajigs I agree watercooling does not have to be for quite and cool it could just be to keep it really cool i could care less about my fans if you are gaming anyways you put on turtle beaches or blast the sound anyways whats a couple of fans going to do?
@TimeToLiveCustoms Would a 450l/h Pump work for a dual 120mm Rad and a single 120mm Rad?
Also, about the Thermodynamic Law's, i think you used one as an example of why you can't get lower temps than the ambient/room ones no matter how many Rads/Fans you use and thus all the extra radiators/fans will be pretty much useless, i used to know the Law's but since i graduated i haven't used them at all and now i can't remember which one you're talking about :/.

Hello, i was wondering after i have all the air out and it's working fine, is it okay if I turn the care over and flipping stuff upside down. I am just very curious on how durable watercooling is. Thanks
Why buy pre mixed coolant? It is like 15-20$ a liter and all it is is some alcohol and copper sulfide in distilled water. I make my own for 2$ per liter (with dye)
@bunnynightmare if you want to cool TWO GTX460 and a 955 you will need a lot of radiator surface.
Best idea for you would be grabbing a monster radiator and put it outside of the case. Google MoRa 3 to get a clue what I'm talking about.
You will also have to buy all fans for the MoRa, otherwise it performs very bad.
If you want multiple radiators then that's more complicated. Check my channel what I have to use to cool the GPUs etc while system is silent. imo WC MUST be silent
@bunnynightmare the size of the reservoir doesn't matter in terms of what you have to cool. It only needs to suit your needs and it...should be there because it's easier to fill the system. That's all.
The Pump strength depends on the coolers and the amount of radiators. GPU coolers are usually high flow while CPU is not.
I have 1 pump for 3 radiators, 2xGPU,1xCPU and mainboard. (in my channel)
The pump even runs at 5Volt instead of 12V...no problem!
@madmadmax321 the radiator shown in the video (a 120 or 140mm rad), is too small for proper cooling at decent fan speeds for a longer period of time. The water temperature will go up and up at 4,5Ghz@load even in just 1 hour you'd reach peak temps. Maybe 48°C water Would possibly result in ~70°C CPU which means the i7 would throttle speed down.
You'd rather want to use a 240mm or better 280mm (2x140mm).
Then you can have pretty slow running fans, too. 4,5Ghz will be no problem.
@AimthiabYaim0241 the water that you fill in the system will most likely not leave it again. Maybe only by a veryyy small amount in a year.
If you have to make little 'corrections' just use distilled water, it's cheap. You DON'T have to buy another bottle "watercooling water" just for that.
@REDxFROG Oh so distilled water also works on water cooler system? my was an "external water cooler"..distilled water works well just like regular liquid coolant?
For the summer I will probably be testing some custom water cooling for the first time and some customizations to my define r3, a window would be nice:)) The water cooling seems to be cheaper than I thought. Hopefully a dual 140mm rad will fit in to of the case, if anybody knows if it does plz tell?
@TimeToLiveCustoms ''no it doesnt dude and a single 140 isnt enough to cool a cpu''
Ever seen the Corsair H70 & Co? :P
Of course it can be enough. But you are partly right with it. The goal is to add more cooling surface and to run the fans slower. With a 120mm radiator you'd have to blow a lot air through just to cool the water. At this point you could simply just use air cooling.
@Benfro89 You should use google on that matter. There are many people that have been testing several coolants and posted the results in forums.
You will most likely not find THE answer here. There's way too many coolants, colors, prices etc.
But you will most likely always have some 'trouble' with colors in a watercooling system. Maybe not after just a few days, but in 1-2 years the hosing etc 'absorbed' some of the color.
does this kind of a kit needs maintenance? like you have to check it every 2 weeks or so, or can you just leave it like a year without looking at it?
@QuickXXStepXXdamian you can leave it like a year without looking. But if you put color in the water, depends on the brand, and you have transparent water blocks, it is a good idea to take a look at those micro-structures every now and then.
If you are afraid of leaks..you don't have to. If you use proper tubes and fittings, nothing goes wrong. If you get experienced with it, a 20min leak check is enough. Just to get the air out and make sure you didn't forget a fitting.
Ughhh!!! I'm about to get my first gaming computer, looking at spending around £2000.. I don't really want to get a water cooled one (because I have a basic knowledge on computers and I will end up with a burned down house or a waste of £2000) is water cooling a must have for high end gaming or will cooling a CPU with a fan be fine? An answer soon would be really helpful, thanks.
@TimeToLiveCustoms Would that be good enough for a I7 2600k (overclocked)? If I say something that doesn't make sense it's because of my amazing lack of computer knowledge. Also, are the GTX 590's fans good enough to cool keep it cool or is it a good idea to have something to cool that down too? Sorry for all the questions :(. Thanks for the quick reply! :)
@TimeToLiveCustoms Oh wow, this is going to be difficult.. I wish I knew someone that has experience with building computers near where I live :(... Thanks for your help :)
@JordanWells15 The Noctua NH-D14 he suggested would be fine for a 2600k overclocked.. The 590 has adequate fans as long as you have a case with good airflow! You don't need watercooling.
@JordanWells15 What I did was buy all the components I wanted(cost about £1200), then saved £300 and bought the best custom water cooling parts I could find(almost all EK parts with a Laing D5 pump and Tygon hose(apparently the best hosing there is)).
It'll give you plenty of time to plan and decide what you want, It doesn't hurt to run on air cooling for a few months.
@JordanWells15 just a heads up, you don't need to spend 2000 pounds on a gaming rig, that's a take over the world machine. I just put together my rig for around 800$usd and it runs everything i can throw at it near flawlessly
I want to install a RASA RS240 kits in my machine. I have a CM690II case, plan on mounting the rad at the bottom of the case and having just a cpu block on it. For bleeding would it be easier to shake the unscrewed RAD to remove air bubbles instead of shaking the whole system?
@Rajiv4125 you can get air everywhere though dude, just move the case about. If I was you I would have the barbs on the rad at the front of the case. ALSO look for my videos called "snow drift" because I use RS240 rads in the 690 II on that build, that should help you get an idea of what you will need to do :)
@TimeToLiveCustoms Checked it out, yeah I was plaining to that, I ordered bitspower compression fittings for the rad, res, block as well as some primochill tubing. Should be able to squeeze 4.8GHZ from my 970 currently its doing 4.4ghz@1.36
Hey im new to this water cooling stuff. i hope to build a system soon, but i wanted to ask, on the barbs, are they all the same size threads or can they be diffrent depending on the product???
I have a Zalman Z7+ case which has two side 140mm fan spaces but i cant find a rad that can fit, Do they make 280mm rads or would i either have to buy a 240mm rad and have it only screwed into one of the 120mm spaces or at worst use 2 separate 120mm rads. If you know a place where i can get 280mm rads please tell me i would be alot of help. Thankyou
@suicidekittyxXx you need to make sure the fan spacings are correct, I wouldnt recomened having the rad in the side as it will more than likely hit your graphics card and also be really difficult to hose up. You are much better off getting a case thats designed for watercooling from the outset dude :)
@TimeToLiveCustoms thanks for the info, the reason i wanted to try and fit it in the side of the case is because im trying to keep costs down and when i first got my case i never had water cooling in mind, but oh well, you cant get a high end/good gaming pc without spending a few quid :P
u could just have moved the camera 20cm to the right instead of showing us your head for a couple of minutes, especially since this is a tutorial to SHOW how its done properly...!
This is a great review, but I was wondering would it be nice temps if you added another fan? I know this is just a kit your reviewing but, I wondered your personal opinion? Maybe in the future you can do more instructional videos if you have time between your regular reviews.
@TimeToLiveCustoms hey Tom I have an FT02, now I'm not stupid I know it's an air cooling case (and one of the best) but as a project could you do a full loop (CPU+GPU water blocks and things) and mod the case so theres a rad at the bottom of the case? I think that would be an awesome project :)
@TimeToLiveCustoms can you have 2 pumps in one loop? obliviously 1 big one would be ideal but if you had 2 smaller pumps would that do the job for GPU water blocks as well as CPU? I'd guess that the flow would only be as good as the weakest pump (atleast when it gets to that pump)
could you use food dye from fruit (fruit dye)

surely you could add some pesticide into tubing to kill algae?

Also, don't use dye in your loop, it gunks up your blocks/rads leading to increased maintenance frequency.

Why buy pre mixed coolant? It is like 15-20$ a liter and all it is is some alcohol and copper sulfide in distilled water. I make my own for 2$ per liter (with dye)

Just a quick question, with the pump, is there someway I can properly secure this down in a PC case?

Should the RAD fan be exhaust?
Can I put a triple rad on my top of my HAF 932?
Can I use the stock 230 fan to cool the rad (and of course the 3 that I'll get with it)
Thank you :)
dominox64 3 months ago
@dominox64 remove the 230 it will do nothing for the rad what so ever. and I would use it as an exhaust yes.
TimeToLiveCustoms 3 months ago
@TimeToLiveCustoms Thanks :)
I think that I will replace the 230 in the side with 4 120mm too

@bunnynightmare if you want to cool TWO GTX460 and a 955 you will need a lot of radiator surface.
Best idea for you would be grabbing a monster radiator and put it outside of the case. Google MoRa 3 to get a clue what I'm talking about.
You will also have to buy all fans for the MoRa, otherwise it performs very bad.
If you want multiple radiators then that's more complicated. Check my channel what I have to use to cool the GPUs etc while system is silent. imo WC MUST be silent
REDxFROG 3 months ago
@bunnynightmare the size of the reservoir doesn't matter in terms of what you have to cool. It only needs to suit your needs and it...should be there because it's easier to fill the system. That's all.
The Pump strength depends on the coolers and the amount of radiators. GPU coolers are usually high flow while CPU is not.
I have 1 pump for 3 radiators, 2xGPU,1xCPU and mainboard. (in my channel)
The pump even runs at 5Volt instead of 12V...no problem!
REDxFROG 3 months ago
never run a watercooling pump dry like he does
REDxFROG 3 months ago
hi would this be able to keep a i7 2600k cool at 4.5ghz?
madmadmax321 3 months ago
@madmadmax321 the radiator shown in the video (a 120 or 140mm rad), is too small for proper cooling at decent fan speeds for a longer period of time. The water temperature will go up and up at 4,5Ghz@load even in just 1 hour you'd reach peak temps. Maybe 48°C water Would possibly result in ~70°C CPU which means the i7 would throttle speed down.
You'd rather want to use a 240mm or better 280mm (2x140mm).
Then you can have pretty slow running fans, too. 4,5Ghz will be no problem.
REDxFROG 3 months ago
how long does a bottle of water cooling last??Really need to know..Thankss
AimthiabYaim0241 3 months ago
@AimthiabYaim0241 the water that you fill in the system will most likely not leave it again. Maybe only by a veryyy small amount in a year.
If you have to make little 'corrections' just use distilled water, it's cheap. You DON'T have to buy another bottle "watercooling water" just for that.
You can also just use distilled water alone.
REDxFROG 3 months ago
@REDxFROG Oh so distilled water also works on water cooler system? my was an "external water cooler"..distilled water works well just like regular liquid coolant?

@OutlawLovesNewVegas Thats sad:( I've been hoping to find something that fits my gfx for a while now.
mrali95 3 months ago
For the summer I will probably be testing some custom water cooling for the first time and some customizations to my define r3, a window would be nice:)) The water cooling seems to be cheaper than I thought. Hopefully a dual 140mm rad will fit in to of the case, if anybody knows if it does plz tell?
mrali95 3 months ago
@mrali95 no it doesnt dude and a single 140 isnt enough to cool a cpu
TimeToLiveCustoms 3 months ago
@TimeToLiveCustoms Yeah I realized that, too bad:( Maybe I'll have to go for a new case than.
mrali95 3 months ago
@TimeToLiveCustoms Why are you using only one rad single in here? Especiallly without a fan?

@TimeToLiveCustoms ''no it doesnt dude and a single 140 isnt enough to cool a cpu''
Ever seen the Corsair H70 & Co? :P
Of course it can be enough. But you are partly right with it. The goal is to add more cooling surface and to run the fans slower. With a 120mm radiator you'd have to blow a lot air through just to cool the water. At this point you could simply just use air cooling.

hey does that dye leave residue ? because id like to use die but im worried abut residue anyone know of any good die or colored coolant?
Benfro89 4 months ago
@Benfro89 You should use google on that matter. There are many people that have been testing several coolants and posted the results in forums.
You will most likely not find THE answer here. There's way too many coolants, colors, prices etc.
But you will most likely always have some 'trouble' with colors in a watercooling system. Maybe not after just a few days, but in 1-2 years the hosing etc 'absorbed' some of the color.

in which order should i put my pump, cpublock and, rad and reservoir?
MrAntec300 4 months ago
does this kind of a kit needs maintenance? like you have to check it every 2 weeks or so, or can you just leave it like a year without looking at it?
QuickXXStepXXdamian 5 months ago

@JordanWells15 buy an nh-d14 ;)
TimeToLiveCustoms 7 months ago 9
@TimeToLiveCustoms Would that be good enough for a I7 2600k (overclocked)? If I say something that doesn't make sense it's because of my amazing lack of computer knowledge. Also, are the GTX 590's fans good enough to cool keep it cool or is it a good idea to have something to cool that down too? Sorry for all the questions :(. Thanks for the quick reply! :)
JordanWells15 6 months ago
@JordanWells15 that kit would not no dude, youd need a minimum of thwe RS240 kit
TimeToLiveCustoms 6 months ago
@TimeToLiveCustoms Oh wow, this is going to be difficult.. I wish I knew someone that has experience with building computers near where I live :(... Thanks for your help :)
JordanWells15 6 months ago
@JordanWells15 The Noctua NH-D14 he suggested would be fine for a 2600k overclocked.. The 590 has adequate fans as long as you have a case with good airflow! You don't need watercooling.
ViralBR0 6 months ago
@ViralBR0 Alright, cool, I'm just new to building and needed some good advice, thanks.
JordanWells15 6 months ago
@JordanWells15 Np, I'm actually hoping to do my first watercooling build soon! 360 Rad with a 2600k and 3x GTX 480s ^^
ViralBR0 6 months ago
@JordanWells15 What I did was buy all the components I wanted(cost about £1200), then saved £300 and bought the best custom water cooling parts I could find(almost all EK parts with a Laing D5 pump and Tygon hose(apparently the best hosing there is)).
It'll give you plenty of time to plan and decide what you want, It doesn't hurt to run on air cooling for a few months.
DackIsBack 6 months ago
@JordanWells15 just a heads up, you don't need to spend 2000 pounds on a gaming rig, that's a take over the world machine. I just put together my rig for around 800$usd and it runs everything i can throw at it near flawlessly

I want to install a RASA RS240 kits in my machine. I have a CM690II case, plan on mounting the rad at the bottom of the case and having just a cpu block on it. For bleeding would it be easier to shake the unscrewed RAD to remove air bubbles instead of shaking the whole system?
Rajiv4125 7 months ago
@Rajiv4125 you can get air everywhere though dude, just move the case about. If I was you I would have the barbs on the rad at the front of the case. ALSO look for my videos called "snow drift" because I use RS240 rads in the 690 II on that build, that should help you get an idea of what you will need to do :)
TimeToLiveCustoms 7 months ago 2
@TimeToLiveCustoms Checked it out, yeah I was plaining to that, I ordered bitspower compression fittings for the rad, res, block as well as some primochill tubing. Should be able to squeeze 4.8GHZ from my 970 currently its doing 4.4ghz@1.36

Hey im new to this water cooling stuff. i hope to build a system soon, but i wanted to ask, on the barbs, are they all the same size threads or can they be diffrent depending on the product???
Batesy322 7 months ago
I have a Zalman Z7+ case which has two side 140mm fan spaces but i cant find a rad that can fit, Do they make 280mm rads or would i either have to buy a 240mm rad and have it only screwed into one of the 120mm spaces or at worst use 2 separate 120mm rads. If you know a place where i can get 280mm rads please tell me i would be alot of help. Thankyou
suicidekittyxXx 7 months ago
@suicidekittyxXx you need to make sure the fan spacings are correct, I wouldnt recomened having the rad in the side as it will more than likely hit your graphics card and also be really difficult to hose up. You are much better off getting a case thats designed for watercooling from the outset dude :)
TimeToLiveCustoms 7 months ago
@TimeToLiveCustoms thanks for the info, the reason i wanted to try and fit it in the side of the case is because im trying to keep costs down and when i first got my case i never had water cooling in mind, but oh well, you cant get a high end/good gaming pc without spending a few quid :P
suicidekittyxXx 7 months ago
@TimeToLiveCustoms
isn't best to use a seperate reservoir and pump.
Place the reservoir at the top of the loop and pump at the bottom
Intanius 7 months ago
i wouldn't use dies if you want color use colour tubing and for coolant use distilled water

@TimeToLiveCustoms hey Tom I have an FT02, now I'm not stupid I know it's an air cooling case (and one of the best) but as a project could you do a full loop (CPU+GPU water blocks and things) and mod the case so theres a rad at the bottom of the case? I think that would be an awesome project :)

soo... to water cool the graphic card is just to connect the pipes to the gpu water block and have bigger radiator and fans??
vipire 9 months ago
@vipire and maybe a better pump.
TimeToLiveCustoms 9 months ago
@TimeToLiveCustoms can you have 2 pumps in one loop? obliviously 1 big one would be ideal but if you had 2 smaller pumps would that do the job for GPU water blocks as well as CPU? I'd guess that the flow would only be as good as the weakest pump (atleast when it gets to that pump)
rob3342421 9 months ago
switching it of and on. On the power supp is it bad?
