Katariina make me like Rachmaninov whose music is at first too "romantic" for my taste. Isn't it the power of musicians to make undertable the taste of one country or one century into another one ? Katariina has definitly this talent.
Very good. I only miss one component that is easy to achieve, for a violinist of this calibre: dynamics. This piece has all of it, pp and ff. But I heard f and ff only. The piano was not too loud, as it is in many recordings, so there was room for dynamics. Maybe we'll hear another incredible rendition, with improved dynamics.
Everytime I enjoy much the piece and the performance. Katariina, you're an amazing violinist. A really amazing violinist. You have reached one thing which not everybody can: love the music and the violin. And people notice when they hear you.
Keep practicing and thanks for those brilliant videos you share :)
I have no words to defind this video. It's as BRILLIANT as there's not a word to define it. Katariina, you have amazed me in all your videos, but this, it's a milion times more than the meaning you can imagine of the word "amazing".
This was wonderful. Hearing this makes me sad that my school orchestra teacher had us play this song, without getting the full feeling out of it like you did. At least he implemented the solo part, but it just isn't the same if not played like this =')
She is really good, you don't here young musicians like that often.
I can remember being in orchestras with maybe, four people like that. I agree with you though, it shouldn't be considered outlandish that someone young can play it well, its unhealthy mysticism, if you could get rid of that I bet you would have a lot more kids playing like this.
wow. this sound is a lot more mature than a sound that a 12 year-old could make!!! very impressive..very clean intonation... she is a great performer and very musical. congratulations...
I agree 100% with rasputia. This song is interpreted beautifully and the tone and vinrato are exceptional! The song is mostly played on high keys, which makes it very difficult to bring out the emotion. But this violinist does exactly that. Good job!
ahhh <3 this is the peice that got me to play the clarint when i heard it on clarinet i was hooked and now every time i hear it i think of purchasing mine <3
I think that this is one of my favorite interpretations of the vocalise. Your tone and vibrato are stunning, and you convey the mood of the piece beautifully; try listening to a singer performing the piece (original key = c# minor) for a better idea of phrasing. I recommend listening to Renee Fleming and Anna Moffo; the Fleming recording is in my favorites, next to an ice-skating interpretation.
u amazes me! you always blows my socks off when I hears you play. who is your teacher? How long have you been playing? who or what inspired you to play the violin and well? I havn't had the chance to play your pieces yet and I want to
her teacher is a Estonian lady, Tiiu Peäske. She's been playing since 6. She had a desire to play violin herself after trying it when she was 5. And she has had most caring teachers she could possibly dream of.
Incerdible! I was quite reluctant to watch such a young girl playing Vocalise - but I was blew away from the very first note with her maturity and musicality and tone. It's pure beauty! Thanks for sharing such a wonderful performance, and give Katariina my best and sincere congratulations!
Oh! You played so wonderfull!

waxenwings89 3 years ago
12, really. Why is it so unbelievable?
Jekatherina 3 years ago
Oh, it was a compliment-- sounds much more mature and developed than a 12 year old's sound. No scratches, no false musicality.

It takes talent, it takes a very good teacher and then willingness to work really hard. A combination of all of those IS mystically rare.
