I find it hilarious that people think 'she can't even use a computer', of couse she can. You think she became a famous photographer and got all of these opportunities without using a computer, post processing is a huge part of a photograph, most of the time without editing photos don't have that same impact or get noticed. Yeah, she may have hired someone to do some editing or touch ups but you really think all of her other photos are shot right out of the camera? Seriously?
she doesnt use photoshop AT ALL. she is completely against it.
what she does with those photos is, she uses a film camera and takes a shot of the celebrity, then a seperate shot of the background and while developing the film, she crosses the film over each other to create that effect
@erasemebitch Oh commonnnnnnnnn. These HAD to be with some sort of photoshop involved. Who are you kidding? She might not do it herself, and most likely she doesnt. But You can't say that her photos are not photoshopped at all. Absolutely untrue.
@NYCinema no, there is absolutely NO photoshop involved. i dont know if you know anything about photography - but if you did, you would know that you can do heaps of cool shit with it WITHOUT the use of photoshop.
@erasemebitch , definitely agree the amazing visuals that can be captured but there's no question that post-production work was used in these Disney images... Doesn't matter how talented you are, there's no way they shrunk down Tina Fey as Tinker Bell so that Annie could photograph her to appropriate scale in the image. Also, this image features quite a bit of post... farm3.static.flickr.com/2302/1813597112_bae58790c1.jpg
@erasemebitch Ummm....yea there is post on these. In fact I use the same techniques. Considering many of the images were shot on a grey screen and then later made as a composite, that alone requires it. But you would be correct that she does not do her own post (any longer) she used to.
@erasemebitch I presume you are 'messin' with ma head mo fo. Leibovitz is actually an attractive young woman that has been transformed with Photoshop into the wicked witch of the west.
@Goech i agree. i think photoshop is a great 'tool', but most photographers are over abusing it.
she has a team that edits her photos and make them look like paintings or something unbelieavable. where's the credit in that?
yeah sure she came up with the brilliant ideas but we all have great imagination too. if we could pay a bunch of photoshop experts to edit our photos then we'll all be annie leibovitz
I totally disagree with Canturgan. Annie Leibovitz started her career very young, she came from the old school when photography was very basic and digital images were not even an thought and she lived through the changes so of course she knows how to use a computer. She would not be able to come up with these great ideas when shooting otherwise! The "Life through a lense" documentary is worth seeing 100%.
Oh I didn't mean to make it sound like I was degrading you. Her work is amazing, I was just wondering what tools I would need to duplicate what she does.
haha not at all. no offense taken. im not sure what tools youd need to have to duplicate her. An extensive knowlege of photoshop and lighting would be a good start. and lots of money.
I doubt if she can even use a computer, she'll leave that to the hired help. If enough people tell us she is great enough times, people start to think it's true.
