Try using positive reinforcement to get the bird to come to your hand for its favorite reward. Take it slow and don't force the progress. Patience will be rewarded. Keep in touch let me know how it's going.

@tigerpawable parakeet small and timid?!?! I had two, and both were not timid at all :)) in fact, they never wanted to sit in the cage... what I did, was putting some loud music on, like hispanic music for dancing and I was opening the cage, so they would want to do merrymaking with me and go out of their cages to dance...

@nitu1903 trust me if the birds didnt want to do it they wouldnt. birds are incredibly smart and LOVE being taught new things to keep them occupied and to stop them getting bored.

I use cooked pasta because it is soft and Max eats the very small amount quickly so that we can move on to more training or another trick.
