@DancesWithJoy the track you recall was apparently cleaned off from youtube,
Correctly it is "a cappella " singing, not a "reading" since Marianne sings without any band support.

@patsematary Hi there! I know what a cappella is and where I am from we often refer to singing songs as 'reading' them. It means giving ones own interpretation to something. So this is both!! :-) peace
I love to hear non-Irish people singing Irish songs as they put a different slant or interpretation on them, which makes it interesting.
For example Sting singing the Scots/Irish " Mo Ghile Mear" (My darling hero ???)
or Kate Bushes rendition of " Mna na hEireann " ( women of Ireland ) both on youtube !
