There is a set of tracks in the Olympia area that I last walked (about 15 miles worth) from Olympia down to Littlerock, which obviously hadn't been used in quite some times (totally rusted rail surfaces). Before they get the very worthwhile idea to pull up the track for a rails-to-trails transformation, I wish I'd been able to build one of these speeders and taken a trip down those old, unused tracks.
@robertgift to tell u the truth, i dont like deisiels, steam is more efficent then diesiels but eletric beats both, though it could be cool to have a mini hand car
@trainlover479 As much as I love steam locomotives, as did my great uncle, a 4-8-4 steam locomotivengineer,
Dieselocomotives are FAR morefficient and less polluting than steam. If you could boil water with natural gas, that would make a huge difference. Steam would then be less polluting, though still terribly inefficient and a steam locomotive maintenance-intensive and stressful on track.
What places do you inspect where they have has small tracks?.

Make it pedal-powered.
No engine noise, fuel waste and pollution.
What is this track for? How long?
Thank you.
robertgift 1 year ago
its not fuel waist
trainlover479 1 year ago
Waste.
Make it pedal-powered.
No engine noise, pollution, fuel waste.
And the rider gets fun exercise.
robertgift 1 year ago
my god, eco noob shut up, gas is more efficent but i really like steam power better....
trainlover479 1 year ago
I'd love steam, though it is the most inefficient there is.
But steam is fun and the sound is wonderful.
This is noisy and repulsive.
Much better is pedal or arm powered.
Exercise and quiet.

Muscle-power is MOST efficient!
Then electric, but difficulties storing it and providing electric power to vehicles.
Diesel is most efficient fueled vehicle.
Then gasoline.
Steam is last - very inefficient.
But the most fun and interesting.

@robertgift accually, when it comes to railroads, that is at the very bottom

@trainlover479 Exactly. I hate those new environmentalist liberals.

@RCKTBOY7 Yah this guy doesnt know we are even talking locomotives! XD hes one of those people thinking they are more powerfull than a locomotive
trainlover479 1 year ago
@trainlover479 Ain't that the truth! He also doesn't even realize that it uses a lawnmower engine! XD
RCKTBOY7 1 year ago
@RCKTBOY7 A lawnmower engine? Thats sick, putting it to much beter use than cutting grass! LOL
trainlover479 1 year ago
@trainlover479 I know! Well, at least it looks like a mower engine!
RCKTBOY7 1 year ago
@robertgift Shut the fuck up, the whole railroad is for fun, oh and hope you get killed by a steam locomotive
trainlover479 1 year ago
@trainlover479 Looks like fun! I could be killed by operating a steam locomotive - which I have done.
Those boilers can rupture with devastating results. Fortunately they are inspected and passed.

dude steam locomotives are much more fun and interesting than any other type of locomotive, they BUILT america for th elove of god!
trainlover479 1 year ago
@trainlover479 Yes. They did build America and England and every other country.
Yes, far more fun than any other engine. Buterribly inefficient, polluting and require much maintenance
and stress track. Stillove them.

@robertgift Dude what if i told you steam does less polution than desiel? because its true...
