  • Walmart takes out life insurance on all their employees. If the checkout lady dies from cancer Walmart benefits to the tune of tens of thousands. They are the sole beneficiaries.

  • In UK it is Asda. False economy. The cheaper food is garbage and once you buy the premium range you can be in any other supermarket - in fact it is more expensive than Sainsburys. I throw out most of it. If you only buy what you would have bought BEFORE they opened how much do you save each year compared with how much is lost to the local economy in lost jobs? Take a look at the bigger picture if your small minds can manage it - please!

  • Attach a video bulshit

... u buy the same playstation 3 from bestbuy ? its the same stuff but u pay more money ...

i will buy everyday from walmart.

walmart, best buy , home depot, lowe, ..just look for drugs industry....and now u can see were's go your money

  • There are many uses for music, and those of us who grew up to Pete Seeger and Paul Robson and Bob Dylan and all remember this is one very important use for it. AND, Sing along!

  • No Monroe Walmart!

  • Right on.

  • Yawn - big effin yawn.

  • Thank you for this! It's nice to see caring and concerned human beings speaking (or, in this case, singing) the truth about exploitative corporations (not just Wal-Mart).

  • This is excellent and the fact that these people exist gives me hope for this planets future. Thank you Seattle Singers for Economic Justice.

  • Keep up the good work!

  • They all look like Jewish Lesbians.

  • @toobiemaker Whats wrong with that? Be proud!

  • nothing quite like sanctimonious fools.

  • 2 people have the last name Walton

  • Bravo, Seattle Singers for Economic Justice!

  • This is hypocritical because all the stores buy from China and many from Bangladesh also. Almost everything is made in China. There are some products with made in America labels but customers don't choose them over cheaper Chinese products. Doesn't the consumer have some responsibility for this? I am all for not buying from Bangladesh and China because both countries have appalling human rights records and China is a growing military threat.

  • Superb! It is imperative that we educate the people who shop at Walmart. If they understood that what they pay for the product does not include the "subsidies" they pay the Walmart working poor for Food Stamps/etc and what they lose in not getting the property taxes/etc from Walmart for their community, they might realize this place is not a "deal" but is stealing right out of their pockets and mouths.

  • A sad, sizable fraction of employeesand their dependents are on food stamps, WIC, etc. It's the taxpayer that subsidizes this crap. And to top it off, the city and county governments pay millions of dollars to attract this corporate parasite into their communities. Go to WalmartCorporate channel ... you can't even comment on most of their videos because they know what a villian they are. Watch the WalMart documentary on Netflix.

  • Walmart is wealthy only because it exploits those who have made it so. If it were not for labor, there would be no Walmart. Unionization without retaliation should be the law of the land. Any corporation that exports its labor should be forced to pay stiff import tariffs on its products. Walmart wants to keep its wages and prices low so that Walmart employees can only afford to shop at Walmart...and those who MAKE the products can't afford to shop even there.

  • bravo...i've only been a walmart once - in saskatchewan. it was at the behest of sister-in-law and i did so to maintain family harmony....

  • its all about awareness.

  • Brilliant. Great, imaginative way to raise issues like worker exploitation, low wages, and the terrible working conditions of those who slave away in developing nations to provide cheap clothes for us Westerners.

  • WOO love this! BOO Walmart!

  • Thanks for raising awareness about economic slavery. Support Equal Money System to stop all abuse in this word! > equalmoney. org

  • I love you guys!

  • Don't shop there, never will. I pay close attention to where I put my dollars. Most of the people that were shopping at this store will continue to. It's a mentality that is very difficult to change. Too bad.

  • BeauEvil - wow! I guess you want to eliminate the working class and have a country of unemployed and poverty-wage level jobs .... So no one can afford to buy housing, cars, take vacations, - you know - CONTRIBUTE to the economy rather than TAKE from it - you seriously need to open your eyes to what businesses such as Walmart are responsible for - exploitation of people and children in developing countries, the demise of small private enterprise, etc. to pad the pockets of Sam Walton's kids ...

  • @unionkimpossible Did you ever consider that "no one can afford to buy" is terrible for business? A Ferringhi can't create profit if he has no one to sell to. Henry Ford knew this. I don't defend Wal-Mart. I attack the extortion by labor unions. (Yankee) unions have even muscled state governments to favor their crimes. It has taken a long time, but you can't evade economic truth. A man in Mynamar trying to feed his family trumps your American demand for a new car. What it is, is what it is.

  • Get over it. A global economy means that labor unions are MORE THAN WORTHLESS and production relocates to bargain labor. No business should pay more than it must. So, "First World" countries must face the stark reality that, as retail prices drop, so will pay. It's an even swap.

  • @BeauEvil Then maybe a global economy isn't a good idea, asshole. You want to throw stupid phrases around like "No business should pay more than it must" - well, no people should work for poverty wages just so that a few wealthy people can get even richer at their expense.

  • @EstimatedProphet No one is forced to work for poverty wages. Only supply and demand should determine the wage agreed upon by worker and employer. Business is not in the game to lose. Any outside intrustion into wages, like laws or labor unions, merely changes and/or postpones the results. There will always be someone, somewhere who needs work more than someone else; without a 1-world, socialist government in control. Socialism and control INCREASES poverty! The ONLY way to prosperity is profit

  • Janet, WOW! I am so glad you are out there with the Seattle Singers voicing your concerns for the well being of others that work so hard for the corporate greed at Walmart. I have boycotted that store from day one.. Don't even get me started on my soapbox about fair wages & the abolishment of sweat shops! I find it more difficult each & every day to find the small business owners that I can say hello to when I enter their establishment. Keep going strong! You look FABULOUS my cousin!

  • Fantastic! Give 'em hell, Seattle.

  • Brilliant............Love to all.

  • fabulous! how thrilling to get this holiday visit with you - thanks for a great hellraising video... love to all of you!

  • God bless Seattle! This is great and you people are wonderful. Where are the jobs going? How does slave labor overseas grab you? Hard to compete with that. Consider this wonderful video of yours disseminated. Merry Christmas!

  • I refuse to buy at WalMart and do everything to discourage my friends from doing so. My family sure as hell knows better. We will buy secondhand before we will set foot in Wally's!

  • Awesome!

  • Nice Job! ..next time put Bob in a Santa suit-

  • Hark! Thanks to Seattle Labor Chorus

  • love you guys and i will definately be sharing and getting the message out there

  • Bravo!!!

    Exelente!!!

    En solidaridad!

  • You do realize Wal-Mart's are in Canada, too..?

  • @AerosmithNirvana There's a hell of a lot less of them. And things aren't nearly as cheap. And people get $9-10/hour there as opposed to some $7 in the US of A, plus they don't have to pay for insurance...

  • BRavo! Bravo! and Olé too... A great idea and very neatly executed!!!

Did anyone film reactions of the shoppers? A lot may feel conflicted because they suspect that someone is being exploited to make the prices so cheap, and yet may not be able to afford to shop elsewhere. You were educating and entertaining all at once, a way to give folks a lot to think about without making them feel embarrassed or ashamed. Congratulations on your courage and dedication (and humor too)!

  • how can a country allow one company to underpay anyone. Minimum wage cannot be cut here in Canada. the us needs to fine companies who do this. fight for your rights.

  • @sandiblast It can't be done in the U.S. either. This is bullshit.
