The Stonemans were a lot of fun. :-) This video was from a great old movie called "Road to Nashville". If you haven't seen it, check it out. There were lots of great performances from several different stars.
I saw them all in person about 1965 at the Mint Hotel in Las Vegas. They appeared with Mac Wiseman. They were very good entertainers. Pops Stoneman was still with them at that time.
Ernest and Hattie Stoneman recorded for Gennett Records, in the mid-1920's, in Richmond, Indiana. On September 12, 2009, they were inducted into the Starr-Gennett Walk of Fame with a medallion and plaque in the sidewalk at the site of the Gennett recording studio.
In 1968 Stonemans came to Indpls with, and the show boojed in THIS order,
Bill Anderson,Loretta Lynn,Stonemans,Waylon Jennings, Waylon was in an OLD early 50's Gm Bus I went in it it was ROUGH.Bill Anderson and Loretta had Eagles, didn't see STonemans Bus, GUESS who Put on the best show Yep Stonemans, We walked out on Bill Anderson show because it was SO BAD,After Stonemans I Think Loretta came on then We left The Stonemans BLEW all of them AWAY:)
I fell asleep a many a time at night, as a young boy in my Ohio home, listening to the Stoneman family as my southern parents would play their songs on the record player. My Mom was from the mountains of North Carolina and my Dad was from the mountains of Tennessee. Thank you for posting this video. While listening to this video, the memories of my childhood and listening to the Stoneman family have flooded my mind.

A few people here been asking for a video w. Scotty Stoneman. Have finally managed to get it up on Youtube. Look under "Stoneman Family on Arthur Godfrey" It's from 1956, features Donna, Scotty & Jimmy Stoneman. The video quality isn't too good, but it's better than nothing.
my name is robert i am roni stonemans youngest son. i would like to take a minute to thank everyone for there wonderful comments! i have tried to find my uncle scott in a video but to no avail that would be great if someone could come up with one! thank you for posting this so very much!
I have one! The video is from Arthur Godfrey's talent scouts, from 1956. It features a band with Jimmy Case, Porter Church and Donna, Jimmy & Scotty Stoneman. I have tried to upload it, but am pretty new to Youtube and my attempts failed. Will try again and let you know here when I succeed.
Donna Stoneman was my first "Country Music Love," Wouldn't have missed em when I worked for WXRA and WDON in the DC area.. She was Hot Hot Hot..DR. BRuce Nelson KFTX Corpus Christi Texas
No one and I mean no can do this song better than my Uncle Van and the rest of The Stonemans did it and no one ever will. My name is Laura Stoneman, I am the 4th child of Dean Stoneman, the brother of these very talented people.
Their discs are kinda hard to find nowadays (I'm talking the 60's incarnation Stoneman's seen here.) I just picked up one of their early 70's LP's on RCA, and it sounds so honest and down-home that it's actually quite timeless. They would have fit perfectly on such modern "Americana" labels such as Rounder Records.
And of course, Ronnie Stoneman was part of the Hee Haw cast for years!
The Stonemans had such a versatility about them...and with two hot looking gal harmony singers, they could equal or surpass ANY of the commercial Nashville acts!
Looking back, this band was way ahead of its time.
Heard this song for the 1st time yesterday and I love it. Anyone know the lead singer's name and if he's still living.

Yay!!!
My parents were crazy mad for the Stonemans back in the 1960's. . .so I grew up listening to their music.
I would love to see SOMEBODY post episodes from their syndicated TV show from this period. . .thank you, eileenkabush for giving us this.
