@sbeutler: Looking back, you're right. We got nothing on the September-October 2000 deployment. In between deployments, the only drugs found by RMD was some marijuana residue on an aluminum can in the BEQ, but I won't mention anything about that. ;-)
In 2001, RMD busted M/V Svesda Maru with 14.5 metric tons of cocaine. Hell, even I got the USCG Special Operations Service Ribbon for that--after I joined the ANG!
I did Counter Drug Ops with the Davis years ago and got nothing. We rescued a fisherman who lost his left hand in an accident. We aptly nicknamed him "Lefty". That was all the action we saw for 6 months. The Caribbean is where most of the drugs come through. We were making lots of busts on that side onboard USS Kidd.
actually i was on the ship as well, not only was it NOT a waste of time we actually broke records. So maybe it was a waste of YOUR time but some of us worked. And are happy of our work on this deployment.
youre probably a topsider or an offier, in which case you shou shut your useless mouth...and if you were on the 06 / 07 deployment, nobody onboard was happy to work at all. 18 hours a day in engine rooms over 120 degrees..."some of us worked" whats your last name man? id be interested to know exactly which piece of shit you were.
This kind of deployment is the worst. 7 months and one bust. What a waste of tax payer money. War on drugs is a joke. I have seen this deployment first hand... not worth it a bit

I was waiting for that PAO on the phone interview to report a sinking of the fishing vessel. That would have been great!
