I was 17 when this commercial aired, but I know what you mean & young kids would have believed that Gushers does that to you. And since the commercial's goal is to hype the kids up to get their parents to buy it for them, it wouldn't seem likely that little kids who were afraid of turning into fruit would have asked their parents to get them Gushers. But apparently it worked.
