@ItIsNot1984 You can disagree with me all you want, but that doesn't mean that you're not ignorant or stupid. I just looked at your channel, and it isn't exactly a reflection of a brilliant mind. Have you read the Constitution? I have. I'm a Paralegal student, so I refer to it almost daily. People who call Obama a "socialist" usually bring up the Constitution as justification for their attacks, and 9 times out of 10 they don't have a fucking clue of what it says. Are you one of those clowns?
@armyveteran101st I'm sorry for the negative sounding post, but shame on you for calling these people ignorant. You've made your argument by insulting people. I've seen elected congressman completely butcher the constitution. I think you're forgetting here that even educated and successful people can be completely ignorant. It is shameful to me that you would make a video like this. I don't think it will encourage anyone to pick up a book. You're going to discourage them.
@ItIsNot1984 The truth hurts, doesn't it? What would you call these people? They deserve to be called out on their ignorance, because that is what it is, no more, no less. I'm sorry if I've offended your politically correct sensitivities, but at this stage of the game we don't have the time to be delicate or subtle anymore. If people choose to be ignorant, they deserve every bit of the crap that gets thrown their way. There's nothing worse than willful ignorance, if you ask me.
@armyveteran101st I wouldn't call these people ignorant. They are at least starting to wake up and see that democracy no longer equates to having a free society. I'm sorry they're not smart enough for you. This kind of topic is new for a lot of people. Furthermore, you expect someone to listen to you because you're a student paralegal. So what? If elected officials can't even correctly quote the constitution, why would you be anymore qualified?
@ItIsNot1984 **democracy no longer equates to having a free society** Do you live in the U.S.? If you do, how could you say such a nonsensical thing? I don't expect anyone to listen to me for any reason. I just use this as an outlet to put my opinions out there, and it just so happens that there are those who are interested. I make it a practice not to opine on those things which I know nothing about, and people like Bachmann and Palin should do the same, (speaking of politicians).
@armyveteran101st sorry I'm a bit feisty. But no, I don't feel democracy equates to free society. It certainly doesn't guarantee it. You can democratically vote for whoever you want. If elected, that doesn't mean they will act in your best interest. This is the reason why those you call ignorant people are referring to Obama as a socialist. They're angry, and its okay with me. Let them have their hysterical moment. I'm just glad they're getting involved.
@ItIsNot1984 I couldn't disagree more. We have the freest society the world has ever known. Our system has checks and balances that were designed to avoid falling into a tyranny of the majority, and they work exceedingly well. While those who call Obama socialist have a right to their opinions, I have a right to qualify their opinion for what it is, nothing but uninformed, ignorant drivel. Responsible citizenship entails informed involvement. Anything else is just counter-productive.
Keep it up Buddy. When America gets scary it's good to know there are still guys like you who know your history and your magnificently enviable constitution.
10) So, "European socialism" is not socialism. It's a form of capitalism, that provided Europe with the highest quality of life of all places. It works fine. Of course one doesn't need to want it. Every nation decides for itself how it should be run. But I do not undertand the demonising of Europe's system as if it were some failing sytsem bordering communism.... crap. Just visit Europe without money and you will see how capitalist it is. It will come down on you like a ton of bricks.
9) Europe could pump "stimulus" money into its economy, but simply won't, cause it believes that that won't work. The fact a European tackles his problems differenttly from an American who then may or may not think this to be unwise, does not point at a failing system. This is just adaptation. The welfare state is constantly adapted to the state's income. The only thing it tells is that if one can try to repair its economy by spending and the opposite then economics is not a science.
8) To FOX-minded people these cut backs may seem to indicate a failing system. This is just sheer wishful thinking. Many Americans believe in the doctrine of stimulating a bad economy by pumping money into it. Europeans don't. They are equally dogmatic in believing the opposite. In bad times their response will be:"It's going shitty. Hoist them taxes high + cut backs!". Of course Europeans could also pump endless amounts of money into their economy, but they simply won't.
7) European welfare systems always adapt to the current economic leeway. They've always been resorting to cut backs when the money flow dries up and been spending again when the money starts rolling again. They adapt their welfare system to the state's income. When economy gets better they'll be spending again. This is capitalism not a failing system. Never ever would Europeans seriously consider getting rid of "European socialism".
6) Greece and Spain are often taken as examples why "European socialism" would be failing. This is typical wishful thinking. Greece is a matter of mismanagement. It's been borrowing enormous amounts without collecting taxes for years. This is financial mismanagement, not a failing system. It will now undergo severe cut backs for years. Too bad for them but issue solved. Spain's crisis is totally unrelated: it has a real estate crisis (much like the US) and a resulting banking crisis.
5) Needless to say the state needs to have a good financial administration. You need to have some capitalists around that understand that if you spend more (by borrowing money) than you get (your income consisting of taxes) you will end up in deep shit. Most European states do this really well. Greece being an unfortunate exception.
4) But NO, Europe is not a paradise for lazy bums because NOTHING comes for free. The states taxes you for these basic rights. That is, every month you pay a certain amount bfor e.g. healt care, allowances etc. So you will get these benefits when the occasion arises but only because you PAY. The idea is simple: you get something because you pay for it. Only sunlight is for free in Europe. Money is what makes the world go round here. One cannot have enough of it.
3) In "European socialism" everything is about money. One can get as filthy rich as one wants. But the state guarantees certain basic rights, e.g. health care (nobody should die of illness due to lack of funds), some basic allowances (you're jobless, so you should steal cause you cannot pay for your food???), minimal education etc. But NO, Europe is not a paradise for lazy bums because NOTHING comes for free.
2) The so called "European socialism" is simply good old capitalism. It is capitalism combined with taxes and more government regulation than would be the case in e.g. the US but remains capitalism. The state is like an ordinary company that doesn't need to make a profit but needs to get its balance right. For inbstance if you tax too little and borrow too much money this is financial mismanegement. You can spend what you earn = capitalism.
1) There is no socialism in Europe. Socialism is absence of capitalism. The state fully takes, decides what need be produced and dictates its citizens to manufacture goods. Payment is done by exchange of goods as in "you've been making cars for two days so you can get 1 bread, 6 oranges and some new clothes (that were manufactured by your comrad next door). Needless to say this doesn't work and needless to say there are NO European socialist countries.
WHAT A HUNK OF IGNORANT FOX NEWS BULLSHIT. I am sorry. Your comment made me a little less proud to be an American. Going to the Netherlands now, any intelligent people want to join me?
@bigjames23 You should never allow the ignorance and stupidity of others to influence the way you feel about your country. The way to fight ignorance and stupidity is to take them head on and challenge them. If we opt for the comfortable alternatives, like leaving, all we do is give all these brainwashed right wing retards the upper hand. I love my country, and I'm staying put no matter what. I'm not about to give all these Fox "News"-watching morons the satisfaction, and you should do the same.
Really? And just how did he do that? Funny that you would make that argument after what the Bush regime did to civil liberties. They're the ones you really should be railing against. This video is a statement of my opinions, and you don't have to agree with them or like them. Obama has defects, but impinging on our civil liberties is most definitely not one of them. You seem confused.
Sorry but its hard to take you seriously when you say I seem confused. When in fact you actually believe political figures aren't wanting to control everyone and everything.
You didn't answer the question, and when you generalize the way you're doing you're the one who makes him/herself out to be a couple peanuts short of a snack, my friend. That blanket statement you made there couldn't be more ridiculous. Show me that you actually have some brains and that you're not just repeating talking points or something you heard someone else say, and try to answer the question in a rational manner, IF you can.
Again, you seem to be incapable of answering a simple question in order to defend your stupidity. All you can do is hurl ad hominem attacks and evade challenging questions. Morons like you are a dime a dozen here on youTube, and I regret wasting my time with you. Go erase your YT account, disconnect your computer from the outlet, and go back to drinking toilet water on all fours, OK?
Nice one;) But i think that the reason the "obama haters" link Obama with socialism is because of the period 1945-1989. They want to delve into the latent fear of people that grew up in this period. Fear of communism. And like you said people should do some more research on this subject.
Towillsbanana: I'm a student @university. I know a lot about political situations, seeing that i follow some courses that are incorporated in my curriculum. I've never heard a prof utter that Obama=socialism.
When we voted for Obama to be the next President of the US, I don't think many of us clearly understood what we did. Race built the WH. Our first President owned slaves. The Democrats shifted this country forward in a BIG WAY with Obama at a time when the economy collapsed. Bush did a poor job of bringing us together after 9/11. These people see their all white reality slipping away. They dont believe in evolution and hate change. I worry for Obama and other Democrats like Pelosi or Frank.
Why are you worried about them? Worried for their safety?
That's ridiculous. Just worry about them keeping a job. Hopefully everyone is voted out. Start with a clean slate...cannot be any worse than it is now. Congress has a horrendous approval rating.
Why do you remove so many comments? When you reply to someone's comment that has been removed it is a little hard to validate your response without the comment you are responding to. A lot of censorship on this video. Going to remove mine?
If you start becoming extreme and incoherent, I will. And if you don't like that, you're free to take your business somewhere else. I run my channel how I run my channel, and my rules are posted on my profile.
I don't mind criticism in the least, as long as it is coherent and rational. I may seem harsh, but the level of idiocy and extremism around these parts has forced me to become that way. I'm all for debate and disagreement, as long as it is done seriously and respectfully.
You have a right to your opinion, but I wish you would elaborate and explain why you think the video lacks "knowledge". I thought I was very clear in my statements, but I don't claim to be a scholar. Do you claim to be a scholar yourself? Or do you just disagree with my opinion? The fact that you may disagree doesn't automatically mean that I'm somehow dumb, or that you are of superior intelligence. It just means that we have a difference of opinion. Can you understand that?
@ Armyveteran--It angers me so much that your vid has less than a million views, but in all actuality it makes sense. The people you speak of are so consumed with the effects of McCarthyism and ignorance that they've literally disabled themselves from any attempt to think independently or rationally. Fox noise, the rebirth of Joseph Goebbels.
@Willsbanana- So it takes a scholar to shed light on the improper use of term to discredit our President? The irony is that your response validates the point of this video. Please define what (you think) socialism is for the sake of defending your reasoning behind your futile condescending comment. It's likely that you will not respond with any factual reasoning- because it's not possible.
Pow! Right in the face of these small town (in the closet racist) rednecks. There is plenty of ignorance in this country amongst ALL races but damn, Fox noise does a great job at stirring up the White folks. Where were these same people when Bush was handing out bailouts to predatory and irresponsible investor banks who tanked Americas 401k's, when Halliburton was given a no bid contract, when WTC building 7 fell or when NSPD-51 was signed? Just to name a few...
I happen to be a "101st Veteran" as well (circa 1984-85), but this production comes across as a bit of Obama propaganda. Words do have meaning. Maybe "socialist" isn't the best descriptor for the current administration. "Fascist" is a better fit...seriously, look up the definition and see if it works. OK, maybe "facism-light" but once people start conceding their rights to the government, the government will only be happy to take more.
Air Assault, my fellow Screaming Eagle! Thank you for watching, and for your opinion here. It just so happens that I agree with most of what the President stands for, and most of what he wants to do, so I express my support by means of these videos, so I guess they could be at some level considered propaganda. However, these videos consist of my own thoughts and opinions. My aim is not to dispute other intelligent opinions, but to dispel and expose ignorance and hysteria for what they are.
He didn't say give me a little bit of liberty. He didn't say "I want the king taxing me and taking my property some of the time, but not all of the time" America as it was founded, existed until 1916 without taxes. If the founding fathers were alive today they would start another revolution.
That's a very, very simplistic, uninformed, and unfortunate mindset. EVERY country needs a solid fiscal base if it is to be successful, because it has to have the funds to do the things that will ensure that success. When did America truly become a major world power and the most successful country in the world? After 1916. I rest my case.
America didn't become a world power after 1916, it was the leading country economically even in the 19th century. That's why everybody was migrating here, not out. Unless you mean that it didn't become an empirialistic giant, starting senseless wars until after 1916, in which case you'd be right. I don't think that's a good thing though
sam dude u got 3 thumbs down!!!!!!! and these guys parade themselves around as being smart?!?!?!? this must be bizarro world, they see effects and think that's the cause.
Everything was great until you decided to insult me by saying I lack an education. You know nothing about me, yet you sit there passing judgment as if you're somehow entitled to. You seem intelligent, but if anyone here is arrogant and judgmental, that's you, and I won't have it. Go be an arrogant jackass somewhere else, chief.
Yeah they would be disgusted to see how people could become so selfish that they would care more about themselves, and their money than about their fellow Americans.
Because this method is more convenient for me, so I choose to make my videos this way. You have every right to think my opinion is BS. It's a free country, pal. Thanks for watching.
Is possible; Also actually just watched the video, Awsome work! Hamilton For The WIn :D LoL @ the dude with the Lynyrd Skynrd shirt! If you want to see _real_ Ignorance re: Socialism check out some of Sarah Palin's Campaign Rallies! Cheers !
Even IF President Obama's plan was Socialist (which it isn't close) So what? I mean what really do you have to lose at this point anyway? Going forward is always about experimenting with new thoughts, ideas & theories. I live in Canada & we have a basically socialist system, though even by "socialist" standards it's pretty tame but there isn't rioting in the streets or bread lines or any of that. However Balance is the key, I think. Not too much of one, not too much of the other. A Hybrid system
It's extremely easy to just be negative and defeatist. Our Country wouldn't be here if its existence had been up to people with your kind of mentality. I just don't subscribe to the "run-to-the-hills" hysterical mindset that you seem to accept so willingly. This mindless hysteria against the government and everything related to it is, in my view, one more symptom of the alarming levels of ignorance that prevail in America today. Have a nice day.
There are ways. There are anvils hanging from the neck of the US. Like Dubya's subsidizing the pharmaceutical companies so they would give discounts to seniors. Raising taxes on the rich(back to the 90's level, Dubya LOWERED them). Closing the thousands of army bases in over 150 nations would be nice. Or at least Germany and Japan's. And a few thingies like those. Ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan would be good too. It can be done, it is just hard.
In any number of ways that Medicare is in trouble, it is JUST THAT WAY because of "Poison Pill" legislation like Medicare Part D...passed by Bush and a Republican Congress for the express purpose of torpedoing Medicare, which otherwise was doing fine...thank you.
How can our elected leaders think they can get away with these crimes against the people?
Look in the mirror. They set their watches by the stupidity of people like you.
And you are wrong. There have been countless explanations of how this will be paid for, but people have been busy making up their minds not to listen. A closed mind can only be opened from the inside. Quit being paranoid, and be a little bit more receptive to reason.
You sound like an Obamabot, and I mean that, you do sound like a robot. Also, yes it is a process to socialism........it takes time. Obama already owns most of the auto industry, banks and now he is set on health care.
Liberals want the Government to do everything for them.........they are not free thinkers!!
Again, the pot calling the kettle black. You're precisely the kind of moronic ignoramus this video was intended for. It seems as if you morons enjoy your ignorance, and as if you take pride in being ignorant. When and why did we sink to such a low point in America? I feel sorry for you, my friend. If you follow my recommendations at the end of the video, you might still be able to salvage some of your mental clarity. That is, if you ever had any, which is doubtful. Thanks for watching.
think of the reasons why "obama" (which is a mistake actually but i'll keep it in your lingo) currently owns a major stake in the auto industry, you put it in a way that makes your comments sound as if he planned to own and run it, which is so far away from any sane argument as socialism from america itself. the auto industry had to be saved by government money, option B would of been a total collapse or a sellout to someone you certainly wouldn't wanna have own prestigious american industry,
You do realize that he said we had to bail them out so they could avoid bankrupcty...they still filed bankruptcy. We threw billions of dollars down a hole. They are not planning on repaying it.
You obviously don't know much of what you're trying to talk about. There are different types of bankruptcies. Some types of bankruptcy allow for corporations to reorganize so that they can go back in business under a different configuration and different rules. Some of the entities that were "bailed out" have already repaid their debts with interest, and others will do the same in due time, particularly now, that the government is minding the store the way it was always supposed to be doing.
No, you don't know what you are talking about. It has been on the news for weeks now that the auto companies are not planning on repaying the United States TAX PAYERS. Some companies have repaid the loans...great for them. Not GM and Chrysler. I was not referencing any banks.
the veteran has already answered what i was going to say, there are different types of bankruptcies, the ones that you're referring to i.e. chrysler and GM were not bankruptcies to dissolve these companies, just to reorganize and in order to get through that kind of bankruptcy type the government backed it up with a bailout because it wanted to help to avoid that the company doesn't have to close totally, and that's excactly what happend since both chrysler and GM already passed through chpt.11
you do realize that companies can file chapter 11 bankruptcy with receiving billions of dollars from the government...reorganize and continue business.
We gave them billions (Bush started it) to try and restructure without filing for chapter 11. GM failed and when they filed for chapter 11 we gave them another 30 billion. While they were hemorrhaging money for the months before they filing chapter 11, that was our money disappearing. Poor execution all around. No one can claim that was a great success.
i didn't say that this was "a great success" thus far, but it served what it was intendet to in the first place, and that was to avoid the total collapse of the company, of course it was mainly because of ignorance and poor management what has gotten GM in that dire straits, but again, the total collapse has been avoided and a more stable and sound base is given to once again make that company what it once was, profitable and an economic engine as well as a proud symbol.
It did avoid total collapse, but was collapse imminent? I may seem like some conspiracy nut, but I always question the intentions of government and businesses alike.
My proud symbol is Ford. That's a company you can be proud of. GO FORD. haha
yes i personally believe that in case of GM a total disruption was imminent had the government not undertaken the radical steps it did in order to avoid just that, of course nothing wrong with constantly questioning government and always keeping a strict eye and being critical of it, i value that particular opinion of yours and i also share it, plus i agree with you on Ford to the fullest!!!
To DonPhilip84- You hit the nail right on thr head. H. Ross Perot saw it coming decades ago. He sold his shares of GM stock and pulled out. Not before warning them of the coming Collapse if they didn't change. They continued to make sherman tank size cars(Hummer & SUV"S) . All the while Oil prices were going through the roof. Ford, however, Hedged it's bets and put out small cars in case of an oil price crisis. That turned out to be a wise decision and saved Ford from total collapse.
If you took the time to open your ears and to listen to the very many explanations that have been given, (both by the President and other supporters), you would know how this bill will be paid for, and it will. I'm not going to explain it to you, because I don't waste my time with narrow-minded, negative people, but I will say that the bill is deficit-neutral as it is right now. Do your homework and get well-informed before going off talking smack about something you clearly know nothing about.
From what I read, many Americans have no idea of what socialism is. I live in a Socialist Free Enterprise country, and it works just fine. Most of Europe is like this, and Europe is dandy ... and pretty damned successful! What Obama proposes is for the American government to actually take care of its citizens.
it's the effect not the cause, europe wont be so dandy in 50 years while china and the east is surging, while europe is partying it up and caring (read: consuming) of itself, the east is working hardand moving ahead something that europeans used to do. 2nd ecnomic socialism cant coexist with free enterprise economics. 3rd today's europe is enjoying the butter made by previous generations of euros in the last 400-500 years, that era is over. from now on it's all downhill.
Sarjil: 1 Europe (and the world) will be just fine in 50 years. Cause and effect are mutually interdependent. 2 Socialism and free enterprise co-exist very well in a single economy, look around you. 3 Of course! That is how it works everywhere: people benefit from the energy expended by previous generations. The era is by no means over, it is spreading world-wide. Far from being "all downhill", standards of living world-wide are improving.
Five stars [armyveteran101st]. Favorited this video. Your video might be in some history database cos if America ever survive this new dark age of american political ignorance this video will be a reference to illustrate those political charlatans, faith salesmen and snake-oil salesmen who mislead so many willfully ignorant desperate pathetic slobs in their own party. It took a black man in the Whitehouse to reveal so many willfully ignorant people in America. Too many... God help us all.
We must face the cold hard reality that too many truly and without a doubt just believe what they want to believe. Logic and critical thinking is just not an exacting function in every individual no matter how educated. Too many have no value or concept of logic, reasoning, rationality, nor critical thinking. It will take the voice of an elder conservative republican to neutralize the extremism of the willfully ignorant and desperate in the party. Hierarchy and group think still overrules...
.....you're right here armyvet...people need to engage their critical thinking skills in all of this...not just emotionalism...this is also how cults start -- when people stop using their critical thinking skills and become passive and manipulated by people controlling them through emotional rhetoric...good vid...
The nazis where socialists they wanted to run the buiness the healthcare take away gun rights and promoted abortion so wheredoes obama stand ? Just look at his voting record
Tony, you obviously have no clue, and you have your head up your ass. Go get educated, but don't forget to take off the tin foil hat before you come out of your Mom's basement, OK?
Whenever someone talks about Obama being a socialist/communist/fascist, I just stop listening. I probably shouldn't, but the extreme level of shown ignorance makes it hard to care.
you are a fucking moron. what were you doing over the past 8 years as bush was detaining people without charges, without legal representation, and having them tortured?
On my profile you will find the answers to some of the most commonly asked questions, links to the ez to read version of the bill, resources and ways in which you can get involved including phone #'s and so much more.
Calling Obama a Socialist is ridiculous. I'm a Socialist and Obama's economic beliefs are nowhere near mine.
I think a lot of this is a result of McCarthyism. Communism and Socialism are still seen as some kind of Boogyman in the US and the likes of Limbaugh and O'Reilly use that fear to control people.
WOW....maybe your communist leader will do away with free speech....so you can be totally ignorant. We should ALL be VERY afraid of Obama...I think O'Reilly and Limbaugh are weak......in what they say about Obama.
Calif, you know what? Forget about it. I thought you were serious, but I took a look at your channel and I realized you're just one more idiot with a defective brain and a big mouth. Do us all a favor, and get lost.
Not exactly. Communism is the extreme version of Socialism. You can have Socialism and still maintain human rights and individual liberties in society. But under Communism, human rights and individual liberties go completely out the window. For example, until not long ago, France and Spain used to have socialist governments, which respected human rights and individual liberties to the utmost. Compare that to Cuba or North Korea, where human rights don't exist at all. That is the HUGE difference.
So what about all the capitalist democracies that have violated human rights? Does that mean all capitalist democracies are the same? Cuba's human rights record is no worse than that of the US and North Korea, like china, has only been a Communist state in name for decades.
amhemsley, for you to compare the U.S. with Cuba regarding human rights is the dumbest, most uninformed thing I've seen anyone do here on YT in a while. You obviously have no clue, or you've been brainwashed. I don't tolerate this kind of stupidity, so you've been blocked. Go educate yourself, and maybe then I'll let you back in.
Amhemsley is a misinformed hardcore Communist claiming to be an "anarcho-Communist", which is possibly one of the stupidest, most self-refuting ideas I've ever heard in my life.
Mmmm, not so, califsunshine. What people like to call "fascism" is actually right-wing socialism. Left wing socialism is what is called "communism". Same inhuman results, different approach. I have lived under religious based fascism (apartheid) and now I live under a combined socialist - free enterprise system. Believe me, how I now live is paradise compared to apartheid.
how is fascism right wing socialism, where socialism itself is a human construct and counter to established traditionalism of 19th century europe. nazism is socialism based on race/ethnic identiyty where communism is socialism based on social/economic identity.
Post WWI, the rise of Socialism and Labor parties caused much fear amongst Oligarchic countries like Germany.
Rather than try to defeat Socialism on the issues, the Nazi's figured they would just bamboozle much of the population by paying lip-service to issues concerning the people.
By 1938 it was illegal to organize any real labor party in Germany and many workers were murdered.
Like how Cheney called his pollution bill "Clear Skies Initiative"
loved the video,, Indeed the word socialism is misused, and the fact that it is used very widely and inaccurately let the person think,
people fear what they dont know and cant fathom,,,
Even though i do strongly believe in equal opportunities for eveyone to give an opinion,, I can not hide the feeling of injustice that Ignorant and knowledgeable opinions weigh the same
SOCIAL JUSTICE IS NOT SOCIALISM !!! RIGHT-ON ARMYVET, TELL IT LIKE IT IS !

Well, that was it. No more ranting from me :-)

Efteling4Ever 1 year ago
9) Europe could pump "stimulus" money into its economy, but simply won't, cause it believes that that won't work. The fact a European tackles his problems differenttly from an American who then may or may not think this to be unwise, does not point at a failing system. This is just adaptation. The welfare state is constantly adapted to the state's income. The only thing it tells is that if one can try to repair its economy by spending and the opposite then economics is not a science.
Efteling4Ever 1 year ago
8) To FOX-minded people these cut backs may seem to indicate a failing system. This is just sheer wishful thinking. Many Americans believe in the doctrine of stimulating a bad economy by pumping money into it. Europeans don't. They are equally dogmatic in believing the opposite. In bad times their response will be:"It's going shitty. Hoist them taxes high + cut backs!". Of course Europeans could also pump endless amounts of money into their economy, but they simply won't.
Efteling4Ever 1 year ago
7) European welfare systems always adapt to the current economic leeway. They've always been resorting to cut backs when the money flow dries up and been spending again when the money starts rolling again. They adapt their welfare system to the state's income. When economy gets better they'll be spending again. This is capitalism not a failing system. Never ever would Europeans seriously consider getting rid of "European socialism".
Efteling4Ever 1 year ago
6) Greece and Spain are often taken as examples why "European socialism" would be failing. This is typical wishful thinking. Greece is a matter of mismanagement. It's been borrowing enormous amounts without collecting taxes for years. This is financial mismanagement, not a failing system. It will now undergo severe cut backs for years. Too bad for them but issue solved. Spain's crisis is totally unrelated: it has a real estate crisis (much like the US) and a resulting banking crisis.
Efteling4Ever 1 year ago
5) Needless to say the state needs to have a good financial administration. You need to have some capitalists around that understand that if you spend more (by borrowing money) than you get (your income consisting of taxes) you will end up in deep shit. Most European states do this really well. Greece being an unfortunate exception.
Efteling4Ever 1 year ago
4) But NO, Europe is not a paradise for lazy bums because NOTHING comes for free. The states taxes you for these basic rights. That is, every month you pay a certain amount bfor e.g. healt care, allowances etc. So you will get these benefits when the occasion arises but only because you PAY. The idea is simple: you get something because you pay for it. Only sunlight is for free in Europe. Money is what makes the world go round here. One cannot have enough of it.
Efteling4Ever 1 year ago
3) In "European socialism" everything is about money. One can get as filthy rich as one wants. But the state guarantees certain basic rights, e.g. health care (nobody should die of illness due to lack of funds), some basic allowances (you're jobless, so you should steal cause you cannot pay for your food???), minimal education etc. But NO, Europe is not a paradise for lazy bums because NOTHING comes for free.
Efteling4Ever 1 year ago
2) The so called "European socialism" is simply good old capitalism. It is capitalism combined with taxes and more government regulation than would be the case in e.g. the US but remains capitalism. The state is like an ordinary company that doesn't need to make a profit but needs to get its balance right. For inbstance if you tax too little and borrow too much money this is financial mismanegement. You can spend what you earn = capitalism.
Efteling4Ever 1 year ago
A few lessons in "European socialism"
1) There is no socialism in Europe. Socialism is absence of capitalism. The state fully takes, decides what need be produced and dictates its citizens to manufacture goods. Payment is done by exchange of goods as in "you've been making cars for two days so you can get 1 bread, 6 oranges and some new clothes (that were manufactured by your comrad next door). Needless to say this doesn't work and needless to say there are NO European socialist countries.

@bigjames23 You should never allow the ignorance and stupidity of others to influence the way you feel about your country. The way to fight ignorance and stupidity is to take them head on and challenge them. "not a country of controlling political figures?"
are you fucking serious armyveteran?
obama isnt a socialist that seems to be the only thing you got right.
That however doesnt change the fact he is a manipulative bastard.
He cashed in on peoples civil liberties to win the election.
This video is a poor attempt to try and make Obama look good.
DarthL33T 1 year ago

Your video was horrible. You display the knowledge of a grade 9 drop out. Scholars know far far more on the topic, so pipe down.
willsbanana 2 years ago
You have a right to your opinion, but I wish you would elaborate and explain why you think the video lacks "knowledge". I thought I was very clear in my statements, but I don't claim to be a scholar. Do you claim to be a scholar yourself? Or do you just disagree with my opinion? The fact that you may disagree doesn't automatically mean that I'm somehow dumb, or that you are of superior intelligence. It just means that we have a difference of opinion. Can you understand that?
armyveteran101st 2 years ago
@ Armyveteran--It angers me so much that your vid has less than a million views, but in all actuality it makes sense. The people you speak of are so consumed with the effects of McCarthyism and ignorance that they've literally disabled themselves from any attempt to think independently or rationally. Fox noise, the rebirth of Joseph Goebbels.
beatsbytheory 2 years ago
@Willsbanana- So it takes a scholar to shed light on the improper use of term to discredit our President? The irony is that your response validates the point of this video. Please define what (you think) socialism is for the sake of defending your reasoning behind your futile condescending comment. It's likely that you will not respond with any factual reasoning- because it's not possible.

"Give me liberty or give me death!"
-Patrick Henry
He didn't say give me a little bit of liberty. He didn't say "I want the king taxing me and taking my property some of the time, but not all of the time" America as it was founded, existed until 1916 without taxes. If the founding fathers were alive today they would start another revolution.
Sam26100 2 years ago
That's a very, very simplistic, uninformed, and unfortunate mindset. EVERY country needs a solid fiscal base if it is to be successful, because it has to have the funds to do the things that will ensure that success. When did America truly become a major world power and the most successful country in the world? After 1916. I rest my case.
armyveteran101st 2 years ago
America didn't become a world power after 1916, it was the leading country economically even in the 19th century. That's why everybody was migrating here, not out. Unless you mean that it didn't become an empirialistic giant, starting senseless wars until after 1916, in which case you'd be right. I don't think that's a good thing though

Thanks for watching.
armyveteran101st 2 years ago
think of the reasons why "obama" (which is a mistake actually but i'll keep it in your lingo) currently owns a major stake in the auto industry, you put it in a way that makes your comments sound as if he planned to own and run it, which is so far away from any sane argument as socialism from america itself. the auto industry had to be saved by government money, option B would of been a total collapse or a sellout to someone you certainly wouldn't wanna have own prestigious american industry,

You do realize that he said we had to bail them out so they could avoid bankrupcty...they still filed bankruptcy. We threw billions of dollars down a hole. They are not planning on repaying it.
SoccerMU20 2 years ago
You obviously don't know much of what you're trying to talk about. There are different types of bankruptcies. Some types of bankruptcy allow for corporations to reorganize so that they can go back in business under a different configuration and different rules. Some of the entities that were "bailed out" have already repaid their debts with interest, and others will do the same in due time, particularly now, that the government is minding the store the way it was always supposed to be doing.
armyveteran101st 2 years ago
No, you don't know what you are talking about. It has been on the news for weeks now that the auto companies are not planning on repaying the United States TAX PAYERS. Some companies have repaid the loans...great for them. Not GM and Chrysler. I was not referencing any banks.
SoccerMU20 2 years ago
the veteran has already answered what i was going to say, there are different types of bankruptcies, the ones that you're referring to i.e. chrysler and GM were not bankruptcies to dissolve these companies, just to reorganize and in order to get through that kind of bankruptcy type the government backed it up with a bailout because it wanted to help to avoid that the company doesn't have to close totally, and that's excactly what happend since both chrysler and GM already passed through chpt.11
DonPhilip84 2 years ago
you do realize that companies can file chapter 11 bankruptcy with receiving billions of dollars from the government...reorganize and continue business.
SoccerMU20 2 years ago
without* Sorry, it's late and I am tired.
SoccerMU20 2 years ago
We gave them billions (Bush started it) to try and restructure without filing for chapter 11. GM failed and when they filed for chapter 11 we gave them another 30 billion. While they were hemorrhaging money for the months before they filing chapter 11, that was our money disappearing. Poor execution all around. No one can claim that was a great success.
SoccerMU20 2 years ago
i didn't say that this was "a great success" thus far, but it served what it was intendet to in the first place, and that was to avoid the total collapse of the company, of course it was mainly because of ignorance and poor management what has gotten GM in that dire straits, but again, the total collapse has been avoided and a more stable and sound base is given to once again make that company what it once was, profitable and an economic engine as well as a proud symbol.
DonPhilip84 2 years ago
It did avoid total collapse, but was collapse imminent? I may seem like some conspiracy nut, but I always question the intentions of government and businesses alike.
My proud symbol is Ford. That's a company you can be proud of. GO FORD. haha
SoccerMU20 2 years ago
yes i personally believe that in case of GM a total disruption was imminent had the government not undertaken the radical steps it did in order to avoid just that, of course nothing wrong with constantly questioning government and always keeping a strict eye and being critical of it, i value that particular opinion of yours and i also share it, plus i agree with you on Ford to the fullest!!!
DonPhilip84 2 years ago
To DonPhilip84- You hit the nail right on thr head. H. Ross Perot saw it coming decades ago. He sold his shares of GM stock and pulled out. Not before warning them of the coming Collapse if they didn't change. They continued to make sherman tank size cars(Hummer & SUV"S) . All the while Oil prices were going through the roof. Ford, however, Hedged it's bets and put out small cars in case of an oil price crisis. That turned out to be a wise decision and saved Ford from total collapse.

3rd today's europe is enjoying the butter made by previous generations of euros in the last 400-500 years, that era is over. from now on it's all downhill.
sarjil 2 years ago
Sarjil: 1 Europe (and the world) will be just fine in 50 years. Cause and effect are mutually interdependent. 2 Socialism and free enterprise co-exist very well in a single economy, look around you. 3 Of course! That is how it works everywhere: people benefit from the energy expended by previous generations. The era is by no means over, it is spreading world-wide. Far from being "all downhill", standards of living world-wide are improving.

Socialism is a class based society that is controlled by the working class, where as communism is a society after class differences have disappeared.

Hitler was a socialist.
CalifSunshine2008 2 years ago
Actually Hitler was a fascist. There is a big difference.

Get a dictionary. Then do a basic course in logic.

Please read a real history of the period.

A good description, but I think I might add that:
In a Communist regime Class differences based upon economic status are supplanted by Class differences based upon Party Status.
Both, unabated, create the conditions for Totalitarianism and suffering. And have. And do.

loved the video,, Indeed the word socialism is misused, and the fact that it is used very widely and inaccurately let the person think,
people fear what they dont know and cant fathom,,,
Even though i do strongly believe in equal opportunities for eveyone to give an opinion,, I can not hide the feeling of injustice that Ignorant and knowledgeable opinions weigh the same
