  • Definitely.

  • Never forget wandering around Nassau Coliseum in HS post AB show, looking for our missed ride. After the lot was empty, there was nothing but rolling empty cans in the lot. We sat on the curb just outside the lot waiting for a ride and a black streeeetch caddy rolls past, slams on the brakes and a guy runs out with 2 cold Bud biggies saying, 'Compliments of Greg Allman man, and dashes off.

  • Quite possibly!

    Eat a peach

  • Truly a beautiful, masterfully-crafted piece of music. Duane...we need you now, more than ever, man.

  • Duane finally gets ranked high in Rolling Stone greatest guitar players at number 2. Hendrix is number 1 who i feel is way overrated.Bluesky is not only one of my favorite Brothers song but all time song. Duanes story deserves to be told ,but who could play him?Check out Bluesky at Stonybrook. WOW. Duane and also great Berry Oakley mixing it up

  • @skydogging I wonder what Criteria needs to be used in order to "rate" guitarists in list style ... like all ranking against each other. But I personally have a hard time picking a consistent number one. I like to do a Top 5, no particular order type thing.

  • who sings lead vocals here ? sounds higher than Gregg? after listening to Duane / Allman Joys / Hour Glass / ABB for over 42 years , beginning to really appreciate Duane Allman for his talent & contributions to the family of man... Skydog lives on

  • @rentatrip1 Get with the program, Dickey Betts wrote and sings this most excellent song.

  • @skydogging oh Thank You , some one really needs to produce a major motion picture , to feature the details of the short talent span of the Sky Dog ...a very remarkable tale of human life...

  • @rentatrip1 my guess would be Dickey Betts.

  • @rentatrip1 when I first read this I thought you were asking who was singing the "sounds higher then gregg" (making us assume that gregg was the lead singer) ... But I think my response had it backwards.

Dickie Betts sings the lead vocals, and Gregg is doing the background.

  • @JimmyPage97 ,-*-. VERY COOL

    thanks WAIL ON SKY DOG

  • @rentatrip1 oh yea. Of course there's that monster playing the electric.

  • @rentatrip1 You got that right Bro!

  • @rentatrip1 Thinking Dickie Betts sang the lead. With Brother Greg filling in. It's about time you appreciate Brother Duane! LOL! He is a special guitar player. Have a great day!!!

  • @warr0950 You are right. Blue Sky was written by Dickey Betts for his then Indian wife. That is Dickey on lead w/ Gregg Allman on backgroud vocal. Berry Oakely on bass and Butch Trucks on drums with Jaimoe seeming to do not much more than a little snar drum/rim thing with his stick laid flat and some bass drum. It was recording in Miami just before Duane was killed in 1971 for Eat A Peach. Duane plays the first lead then they play the riff together in the middle w/Dickey on lead the rest of way.

  • @warr0950 On the Eat a Peach album, the song after Blue Sky is Little Martha. It was the ONLY song Duane Allman wrote for the band and it has Duane on dobro, Dickey on acoustic guitar and Berry Oakely on bass but producer Tom Dowd decide to remove Oakely's bass. On the ABB's 1989 box set, they put Oakely's bass back. Duane once said he dreamed about Jimi Hendrix& Jimi was playing that song on a stream of water coming out of the sink. Duane said he woke up & played it on his acoustic.

  • INDEED!~
