I have always LOVED Madga Olivero's style, passion, commitment, but I agree with another commenter that she sings well for her age but that is not the same as singing well. Too many artists continue way past their sell-by dates to the detriment of their legacy, in my humble opinion. I saw Pavarotti's last Tosca at the Met and it was embarrassing and not a performance to 'retire' on. He was magnificent but I guess the lure of the applause clouded his judgment. RIP Luciano, we still love you.
I wish I could send her an e-card or something to let her know how much I love her singing. Today is my first acquaintance with her, and now she is my most favorite soprano. Already I've learned so much from the few arias I've heard. Inspires me to get back to singing. She's great and I want her to know that.

The vocal preservation here i very good here. The most important thing, however, from the first notes, is the phrasing. There is a great deal of meaning. This is not sad at all, but very inspiring, and from an interpretive standpoint, refreshing, even for a singer in her eighties.
How can you say this.Magada sound pretty good in her '91 Ave Maria and in '93 Sola perduta, but here she has no voice and she cannot hold her singing please.This is sad to see for we who admire her

In some of the other videos she IS in better voice, here the voice is like a shadow. But what do you expect from a woman of 83. I think this does no discredit to her memory, there is still so much of her very personal art.. she still communicates, and to be able to sing pianissimo at her age is remarkable. The myth of Magda Olivero will be more complete with this document.
