This isn't really a fair comparison because Kiss was a much better band 30 years ago with Ace... Their newer music can't even compare to the classics but Tommy is a better over player in my opinion. Thayer is better technically and is a much more disciplined guitarist. Ace wrote some amazing stuff but Tommy smokes Ace as far as technique, tone, and overall skills. Sorry old school Kiss fans... I know you disagree.

You can't compare them. They are from to totally eras of music. During Ace's time solos weren't emphasised like they are today. I also agree with elfhermie, if you haven't play the song it in a while you're prone to forget parts of it. I'm sure doing drugs didn't help the matter but it would not be the deciding factor.

I just saw Kiss and at first hell I thought it was the original lineup. I'd say Ace is better because he has time and experience under his belt but Thayer did fine as did Singer.
