I would suggest some brewers yeast for the kit, even if you don't drink there are many that would give up most anything for some good old hooch in tough times.

One down side to the MRE's is that you need three a day, the food is nice but I prefer the British 24 hr ration packs. Enough food for 24 hours, but your supposed to come off them after 7 days. They can cause health problems if you eat them for too long, they are designed to make you constipated as well. That's so you don't need to shit when your wrapped up for NBC conditions.

I live on Eastern shore of Maryland. Bridge to Newyork or Tunnel to Virgina, both will be blocked by cops. so I go to West Virgina by boat at night and hopefull make it to Shanondoah Mts. I can live there forever, like the movie, Red Dawn. Can't stay home. Where you go Mike, RR. and Turbo?

Good idea guys.A compass,knife,snake bite kit,or any other medical gear incase you get hurt.Also matches in an aspirin bottle or something to keep them dry.Extra bullets,a canteen,and thats about all I can think of.

Good to see you getting into survival. It seems like more and more people are lately. Some things you should add to your kit is a magnesium fire starter, a water filter, military 550 paracord, signal mirror and loud whistle, a small survival fishing kit with hooks, weights and some line, a compass, a small led light, a waterproof notepad and pencil, leather work gloves, a poncho, a space blanket, a medical kit, and a few bandannas.

Those are just some things I have in my kit. You can get a lot of these things at wal-mart for cheap. There are a lot of survival type videos on YouTube that you should check out to get a better idea of what to get.

Also you should get some guns with no paper trail and a lot of ammo to keep hidden so they can't get taken away like in katrina. I would suggest another ak for self defense and a .22 for hunting.

Hurricane Katrina showed us that the police swat teams will go house to house with fullauto weapons and take all Mikes gun collection. See my FAV. on my page. This is the real surival problem. Do we shoot police and National Guard? Do we run and hide? WE have private companies that work for the Gov't, they can kill as in Iraq. See Gun confication after Katrina. Then decied what to store.

I really feel that we are coming close to another Civil War. I feel its going to be about gas prices and or loss of our freedoms like the right to bear arms and the right to free speech or religion. We all need to be prepared for it. the best advise i can give is stockpile Weapons,Ammo, and food that and read up on and practice survival skills
