  • If you ordinarily have to obtain a court order to gain location information, then surely this location tracking database is illegal?

  • corporatocracy in it's prime.

  • The information is used for two reasons: To provide a way to locate you if GPS is unavailable, and to more quickly locate a GPS signal when one is around. That information is crucial for maps and many other smartphone apps.

  • @hkamobile "To provide a way to locate you if GPS is unavailable, and to more quickly locate a GPS signal when one is around..."

A year's worth of data for dead reckonning? bollocks! Having worked on many embedded projects also using GPS I know that every app's data is accounted for in the design of the system, so something like this couldnt have just crept in! This was a management decision at least! You don't just collect large volumes of such extremely personal data for nothing fun!

  • The horizontal accuracy and vertical accuracy are standard fields in GPS packets, used to manage/cope with degradation data quality (positioning).

  • This has been put in place by the CIA for tracking people they dont like.

  • Keep posting videos #UN#.

  • oh apple...what a bunch of government shills...is calling this a "bug" the best that you can come up with?...i for one now will never buy another apple product...BOYCOTT APPLE TODAY!!!....

  • So that is how they found Osama

  • @dnohl75 ahhaha yes i think so

  • Where would I go to find all of these files on Windows? Could someone please give me the full file path?

  • @throttlejockey77 with the difference that the people watching you are not the government but companies that may influence governùments decisions through bribes; that's very different.

  • :D

  • lol fuck iphone, android and anything else!

my oldass only text and call 15$ nokia ftw!

  • fuck apple, fuck the jews

  • is there any way i could get the tracking information from my iphone to tell me where i was over a few months to do with a hearing as i dont have any paper work to back me up and this could be a life saver regarding my job, As it could jog my memory .Pete and Alasdair have eplained it well but i dont know if its possible to do or take it somewhere It could help fight my case. i dont know anything about computers , jesssar111

  • Osama Bin Laden Switched to Iphone on May 1st

  • Tracking the movement of people is the future for so many industries that sadly it doesn't appear as though it will be avoidable even if you decide not to carry around credit/identification cards, smart phones, laptops, etc. Your movement is being tracked in other ways via satellite imagery, the GPS systems built into cars and street level CCTV's that are plaguing places like the U.K. The most frightening aspect is that nobody seems to care, they just accept that's how the world is becoming.

  • DigiDNA Found a Way to Remove Geo-tracking Data form iPhone in One Click

If you were concerned about your iPhone’s geo-localization data tracking (as exposed by the iPhone Tracker), you will be pleased to know that all personal localization data can be removed super easily using DiskAid!

It works on any device iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, with every carrier, with or without jailbreak.

    Check it out: digidna.net/products/diskaid/support/how-to-remove-iphone-tracking-data

  • @throttlejockey77 yes welcome to 1984 you took the words right out of my mouth. I guess great minds think alike? lol

  • I Bet Bin Laden regrets allowing his iPhone app to "use his current location ..

  • the data that shows for us, shows he was at los angeles at LAX

    Cool

  • Your phone and your computer know everything about you and you update their files on you every time you use them.

  • I'm scared of my iPhone now :(

  • so dont jerk off on iphone 4 back/ front camera..maybe they can see you too.lol

  • AN APPLE A DAY KEEPS YOUR PRIVACY AWAY!

  • Who creates a file that collects Data that they or someone who is paying them to create can't retrieve.you two are ridiculous with your "oh there's no need to worry about this Data being collected by someone" crap...

  • SpyPhone

  • Ha...and we thought we were paying too much for our cell phone contracts. There's a service we're paying for we weren't aware of: they're watching our every move. Now we can find out where we've been!

  • well, they can track me on my old macbook that i'm using too now right?

  • They did it to keep track of all your movements for marketing strategies, which to me is a strong privacy concern...

Apparently this has been going on for quite sometime, but no had spoken about it since recently, probably because only company members knew about it, which means they should had been able to respond to claims about it on the spot.

IT IS NOT OKAY TO TRACK PEOPLE FOR MARKETING STRATEGIES! But they get away with it claiming it helps track you down so that your internet works better

  • am using ... java can't even load 2 pics at one time what about gps tracking :D

  • only iphone & Android are hardware traceable no matter which carrier. Nokia & blueberry are not. youtube.com/watch?v=x5e25bCEhzs

  • @RealNewsFeed

your so lame, found you through google all over talking trash. these are your nicest comments , but i only find you dogin on aj or ppl in other movements, yet can't find you agreeing with anything, still looking .yes I am researching you for a bit, to do my part n expose you for the fraud you are.

  • Scarey this somewhat confirms my fears of a one world government slowly coming together, knowing everything about you and making you disappear if you get out of line. *puts on tin foil hat*

  • Be safe, use Android :)

    Open Source FTW

  • @curahack Oh God, Android fanboy. The same tracking happens on your phones too.

  • @tonyweston9

The difference is that with Android you can read the source files, enable disable features, build/install custum ROMs etc. etc. Buy yeah, I know iOS is made for Dummies :)

  • @tonyweston9 And Windows Phone!

  • @tonyweston9 no its not, iphones have a direct link to the CIA and homeland securtiy. I have 20 years experience with Sprint in IT.

  • @KymaticaHealth

You're such a tool. Any GPS enabled phone has the ability to track your location, not just the iPhone. Android is directly connected to Google which is the king of lack of privacy...

  • @k1skaaa Please check out about the difference between Apple and Android tracking before calling people tools. For instance: twitpic dot com slash 4o354o

  • "just a plain SQL i-file"

omg ... this takes geekiness to a whole new level !

these guys get excited over the 220 000 data points ... jesus, get a life !

  • "just a plain SQL i-file"

omg ... this takes geekiness to a whole new level !

  • Really....people are so stupid

I own a iPhone 4, and all you need to do is disable the location services and BAM! they cant track you. Well, mobileme I think is the center of the controversy with jelous spouses tracking each other etc...it was meant for an anti-theft feature, and it can be easily disabled on the phone (Which is more of a worry that a thief could disable it rather than someone knowing where I am)

  • Folks, this affects ALL mobile carriers... Since 2001 after the US Government made it law

  • If you cannot stop someone tracking you, that means you don't have privacy, It means that if both people have iphones in one place, then they can be traced where!

  • If iphone is not jailbreak before lose the devide, and then they jailbreak the phone, I guess the iphone need to be format and install new OS, so I think the previouse user data included consolidate.db will be deleted.

If we lose the iphone, we can remote delete all data with Mobile Me.

User can turn off location service, so the location will not tracked into consolidate.db.

Normally user cannot access to consolidate.db, only jailbreak device.

  • this big brother stuff started a while ago. soon enough everyone will be tracked, iphone or not

  • @enott93 not if yor keeping yor old phone with a large antenna

  • apple is shit.

  • This is ancient news. Anyone who doesn't know this should pay more attention to what they agree to... like the big dialogue box that asks if you would like an app to know your location or that you create a backup of all the information on your phone every time you sync it etc. The option is clearly there to encrypt the information. It seems to be only cell information as well which is not going to tell where you are accurately. Every time you use your computer you are tracked less accurately.

  • Turn off location services.

I have it turned off most of the time.

Guess what. No traces in my tracking file.

Turn itunes backup encryption on. Its a feature of itunes!!

People choose to be this stupid.

If the FBI wants you , they will track you anyway.

  • Tracking and storing you location information are two completely different things.

Tracking is when somebody tracks your location all the time and watching your every step. Storing your location info might be just for understanding your needs for iAds or something, no worries.

  • who frakin cares?

  • Is there anywhere you can get this app, or is it still in development

  • BTW: The "Horizontal Accuracy" they had a question about tracks elevation.. Like if you were on a plane, in the mountains, in a hole... This file can then also track how fast your going.. so many ways to exploit you, rip you off, and build a profile on you, or worse.. good times..

  • Unencrypted or not, this data does NOT to keep us safe! Proof of this is that this we still have nation wondering serial killers, violent parolees kidnapping kids, and bombers. This info is used just to sell, make money and could be used to blackmail or control you. This won't prevent someone from killing you. They won't call you if there is a suspected bomber, or mugger sitting next to you. Don't play the "well if it makes me safer" card because it doesn't and to say it makes you sound naive.

  • can you disable this on your iphone?

  • @MMACHMP yeah, google it or check out my related video

  • Comment removed

  • yes

  • Apple terribly annoys me. That sort of slimy, touchy-feely marketing they're doing. Yet they are treating us as idiots.

  • @SimulacronX Maybe you. But I guess if the shoe fits.

  • @jim6uy The only thing I got by Apple is quicktime

  • Why do white British women enjoy the black sausage?

  • If you call 911 they track you not just if you have one of them iPhones. Calm down

  • @FSXgta If you have ANY mobile phone. You're tracked as long as it's communicating with it's network.

  • Comment removed

  • @Dirtfire Using GPS data to map your location is one thing, saving the data to an unencrypted file for no apparent reason is a whole other story.

  • iPhones and all cels are super antiquated technology. Try using telepathy. Security wise- it's way more advanced. and Free

Look at the size of that DOCK!

  • @nackdogg I tried, but my friends don't like changes..

  • @Levon095 google

    iphone tracker

  • Anyone naive enough to think that Android (or any other new tech out there) does different?

  • fuck apple man.....

  • Conclusion: Portal..maybe number 2...

  • It's nothing new, all newest cars can tell where you drove in the past.

  • @andyolsz Not really, newish vehicles just tell where the vehicle has been, not where you, or the registrant of the vehicle might have been. The product is the tracking failure. But, law enforcement will place the burden upon the registered owner in any case; so if any person uses the product that tracks movement, the registered owner must prove that they did not make those movements.

  • Basically the people in Apple are STALKERZ!!!....

    have a nice day..

  • wat why

  • DEAL WITH IT, MACFAGS.

  • @ThePanasonicDream cman..

  • Don't you see the big picture, apple is apart of the illuminati, that's how apple is so successful, and now they are keeping track of us, and what better way then thought our phones

  • the government is taking over the world, pretty soon we wont have any privacy... ever

  • fuck apple. lol. irobot shit seems just around the corner...where u at will?!

  • "Made in China".

  • stupid 20 minutes long

  • @starcraftbw & Charlie Sheen is 'winning' even though he killed 20 minutes of 2 & 1/2 men for a weekly viewing for a few months a year.

  • Apple will probably sell this data to advertising companies so they can learn how to sell us the "perfect product"

  • Tracking the tits of your nigger.

  • @CoolConejo no, just tracking you, or you tracking someone that 'gives' you their product.

  • @SuperG33MAn well thank god i don't have one, kind of creepy to think about.

  • /watch?v=jt8B7v1LTSk COD FTW BUT PSN IS DOWN FUCK

  • if this vid is hard to masturbate too, it's because you are a customer of jobbs

  • This is the best way to see all the new tech stuff.

  • What is up with masturbating to irrelivent shit..

  • Always hated Apple: money grabbers, and jst disgusting people. Im sure more companies do this shit but Apple always try to be so cool and its soo damn flashy to have their shit. My ass is more clean than their business!

  • @ACDCFan15Swe Not sure I'd be that harsh, but the desired 'clean' image is about as clean as hard pawn

  • sorry i dont speak science i could berly understand it :P i must be preety stupid

  • lmao 666 likes

oh wait, i just ruined it my clicking the 'like' button :(

  • Wouldn't be suprised if this video "disapears"

  • @vChipGivesThemSight the clip could never 'disappear' if an APL product helped maintain the record

  • @vChipGivesThemSight

yeah maybe but i also think those are going to be seen in tv soon

  • It's just for the Places feature in Photos, it automatically saves where you take the picture so when you sync it to your computer iPhoto shows that place.

  • tell those fags to quit spying. feel sorry for all those dipshits w/ iphones lol

  • BASICALLY YOUR IPHONE KEEPS TRACK OF WHERE YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU DO, THEN SENDS THAT DATA TO APPLE.

You will now live 19 minutes longer because of this summary. You are welcome.

  • @JRLsMusic thank you short and simple

  • @JRLsMusic thank you

  • @JRLsMusic No, the phone/pad does not record 'what' you do, it records where you are, or where the registered owner is, regardless of who really has possession. It does not send that data to the products registered trademark owner. But regardless of that fact, the data could be accessed by anyone with access without a password.

  • @JRLsMusic Actually the data doesnt get sent to anyone. People are being way to paranoid about this. It's definitely not a good thing that the info is there for anyone to find on your computer, but there's no evidence that apple is actually receiving this information and "watching you"

  • @JRLsMusic I didn't know that reading could increase your life expectancy

  • @iphoneblogr whaddya think traffic signs and hazard-warning labels are for?

  • @SmiffWit It's pretty self-explanatory...

  • @JRLsMusic Stop spreading mis information. The data is NOT sent back to apple. It's saved locally. It's also NO DIFFERENT than the info that EVERY cell phone company saves on everyone since the 90s. Get over it and stop lying.

  • @jim6uy apple admits that data gets sent twice every 24hrs

  • @AdrianWoolley85 eh.. can you please cite the exact place where it was written? The last time I checked, if you want to be on a cell network and maintain reliable service, the phone will track local cell towers. If you want to use the GPS, or share your location with friends, or use Google local, 4square, yelp, FB, Where, or any social app location service your phone will keep track of this.

To assert that this is privacy invasion is just inaccurate.

    tinyurl dot come slash alexliphonelogate

  • @AdrianWoolley85 Really? Do you have a link? As of now apple has not commented publicly on the matter. A number of people have looked at this. It's stored in an sqllite db file that would log when accessed. There is currently no access to this database on any regular basis. You're spreading misinformation just like JRLsMusic.

  • @jim6uy Gizmondo, wired, cnet reported on it and last year there was a report issued about how location data is stored

  • @AdrianWoolley85 Again misinformation. Apple has admited to no such thing re: this file or data being sent back to apple once every 2 hours. About a year ago they did admit to advertisers getting location info in some apps. They have since disallowed that kind of advertising. Post a valid link about apple collecting your location data and sending it back home or you're spreading lies.
