The recoil is huge, but without the muzzle break the gun would cause injuries. Trust me, those 25mm you're talking of isn't doing much. If it's the semi-automatic mechanism you're talking of as "hydrolic barrel", then I feel sorry for you.

@Tomm3HB34r Because being english makes any difference. the reason hes holding the magazine is because loaded the M82A1 weighs as much as a small child and is extremely difficult to steady the way you would a normal rifle. You're correct in that this does look like the M107 variant which IS lighter, but still roughly 38lbs fully loaded. Your problem seems to be that you "study" and not actually shoot. Otherwise you would understand how heavy that beast is and why he has to grip it as he does.

Whenever I shoot my .50 I hold it by the magazine. Just seems to be a good balancing point there. Just put the flat of my palm against it, seems to work great.

The recoil on an M82 is similar to the Remington 870 shotgun the Marines use, which isn't much. He isn't in danger of hurting himself with the kick.

The biggest problem here is hefting that much weight from a point way back on the weapon, which is why he takes a "girl holding gun that's way too big for her" stance and the kick throws him off balance.

He basically has to reverse the "put most of your weight on your front foot" rule just to hold the damn thing up!
