Unbelievable that I have to read just one comment in support of this chin twitching prick. During the boom years he sold our gold reserves off at rock bottom prices, butchered the private pension system to the tune of billions. You idiots have no idea the scale of the catastrophe he and his Nulabour chums created. How on earth can the Tories be blamed for any of it? Labour have ruined everything that was ever decent about the UK, the man is beneath contempt.

@hanginghimself Indeed raising VAT was a fatal error on Osborne's part. It effects the retail sector which is exactly where money is needed. Osborne has taxed the economy, it really is economic suicide. Growth forecasts for 2012 are virtualy non-existent, we are heading for a world wide depression.

@destinyson23 Are you comparing what happened to Brown in Rochdale to the Watergate Scandal? And in what way is Brown anything like Nixon, apart from being unpopular? Nixon only gained his bad reputation and unpopularity after his corruption was made privy for everyone to see and hear. Brown may have been many things - a poor PR man and unlikeable - but corrupt, he wasn't.

There are a lot of paralells between Brown and Nixon in terms of their awkwardness, lack of empathy, inability to connect with colleagues and the public.

Instead relying on a seriousness of management and leadership rather than hand shaking and baby kissing.

While Nixon's campaign team partied on the night of his Presdential victory, Nixon was reported to have been alone in his study drawing out a list of potential enemies. I can imagine Brown doing exactly the same.

Spending money? I agree, but it needs to be spent to build infrastructure to produce revenue for the future. Not to keep funding waste in the public sector. Please realise that it is the private sector which funds the public sector and everything needs to be done to insure the private sector thrives.

@robin22391 ... Are you aware that £39,000,000,000 per year is spent on QUANGOS. That's £39 billion spent on 'non-governmental organisations', which we can very easily do without. Based on this, imagine the amount waste there is in the rest of the public sector and then think about how the private sector and ourselves have to pay for all of this. All this waste has destroyed our economy and it all needs to go. The cuts are necessary and I have faith that will be made in the right places.

@robin22391 Spending with what? There is no money, only massive debt. If jobs are not cut then the situation will only get worse. Again, the main focus should be on creating infrastructure and to do whatever is necessary to create industry in the UK. Then there will be money to pay for the public sector.

One good idea is from Boris Johnson. He's planning to build an off-shore airport on the Thames Estuary. This would create a lot of jobs and earn money for the future once built.
