If you plan on joining the military and if you want to be infantry I suggest being an Army grunt. I'm a Marine grunt but Marines get shitty old M16 weapons. Army gets the best weapons and equipment. The reputation of Marines first in isn't always true. The Army 3rd Id was first into Baghdad not Marines and how do I know that. My brother was in that unit and he rubs that into my face everytime we talk about our war stories......Semper Fi.....Army kicks ass also....

well mate, US Marines KICK ASS! as does us army. Marines do parachute, their force recon coys learn how to parachute n i think some other marine elements do aswell.

Personally, im joinin the Australian Army because i luv my country, but after like 8-10 years, im probably gonna move to the US n join the Marines...so i'd say go with the Devil Dogs man. But US Army is awesome too.

Your statement about the Army is wrong. It doesn't matter what your MOS is. If there is a slot needing to be filled in a convoy or a patrol, you can be picked to fill it. A Soldier is what ever the Army needs him or her to be. I'm an 88M(vehicle operator) I drove transport trucks, gun trucks, supply trucks, went on foot patrols through Baghdad and the damn sand, and cleared buildings. I was whatever my commanding officer wanted me to be.

You got a point there but it's not always true. I'm a Marine and I've seen some pretty high speed Army grunt units in Iraq. Example 82nd airborne and 101st airborne units were pretty tight nit. Those guys were pretty good at what they did. I'm a proud Marine but I do give credit where credit is due and the Army's 3rd Infantry division was first into Baghdad not the Marines like most people think. Yeah, you can parachute in the Marines to...but only if you manage to get one of the VERY few slots to go to Recon or MARSOC training...and even then, you learn from Army instructors. In my opinion (and its probably because I grew up next to Fort Bragg) you should go with the Army. Once you get into the Infantry, you can go Airborne, Air Assault, Pathfinder, Rangers (true bad asses), Special Forces. Marines don't use Ka Bars anymore. SOF are first to fight, and Army 3rd ID was first to Baghdad.

MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) is what kind of job within the Army and Marines. Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a test that your require to take before you can even enlist into the US military which consist of questions such as math, etc... you ASVAB score is what determines what jobs you can get within the military. 31 is the minimum you can score and get in the military.

desertstorm is 100% correct. When it comes to infantry training there is no difference between the two. The army has more options after basic like airborne, air assault, ranger, etc. Really it just comes down to personal preference.
