I think most people tend to prefer the J Mann because he was originally there first. I mean...I'm not saying Waylons' better...but probably the best possible replacement for the J Mann. This is how I see it...J Mann screams better. Waylon sings better :)

I have been a fan of MH for a while, but it seems to me that the songs i have heard from the newest incarnation (with Waylon) have gotten a little slowere, and more melodic, which is not a bad thing, i jus prefer the heavier side of metal.they both have thier good qualities, i just prefer J. Mann ,Xeroxed was what did it for me, as a musician i like the theatrics and the masks, but the music is the spine and nerves of the whole program....Keep it metal , people

Well as a more recent discoverer of Mushroomhead, I gotta say that it was J Mann that got me into it. More specifically his vocal style combined with Jeffrey Nothing's Katherine Hepburn on drugs vocals. It was something truly unique. Waylon is a great, great, singer/growler but if I had heard "Burn" before "Sun doesn't rise" I wouldn't have liked them as much as I do. I'd still love to see these guys in concert though.

I still love Jeffrey too, though, so i don't know. I mean, if I had to trade someone to get J Mann back, i'd rather trade Jeffrey because I completely fell in love with Waylon. I don't think Waylon is quite as good of a screamer as J Mann, but I honestly think he's an even better singer than Jeffrey. So could we have J Mann and Waylon instead? I think they would sound the best together and they seem to have the best chemistry (at the Halloween "reunion" show last year, those 2 couldn't stop hugging each other :) ). Waylon seems like J Mann's little brother, or something, and you need that kind of chemistry in a band. I never felt that with either other pairing.

I like them both, but J-Mann a little bit more between the two. The only thing I dont like about Waylon's style is that he sings also. With J-Mann in the band it was always J-Mann scream-rapping and Nothing singing. When Waylon starts singing and you already have Nothing singing, it fucks up the balance ratio of screaming to singing. Plus Waylon doesnt do that rap style of screaming. I kinda miss that. I dunno...thats just my opinion.

J mann had a more distinctive sound, and his voice is stronger and deeper. He can also rap which makes it more unique. Waylon can scream well and he can sign very good which J mann doesn't do. Waylon might have a wider range but I'm gonna have to go with J mann, he defined Mushroomhead.

I like old mushroomhead, it was badass. I think the style has since changed from jmann leaving. I think some of the songs, like second thoughts, is very good and waylon does an excellent job, but jmann would make it better. I just love jmann, and ive listened to his newer projects and i cant say i like his voice as much without jeffrey nothing.
