  • O____________________O"

  • That sofware can be used on Mac os x?

  • @ColmebagDarrell Hybrid installation. The same dvd works for mac too. When you insert on windows, it opens an ".exe" to install. When on mac, it opens some ".dmg" and mount/install too.

  • Okay, noob question. What does the polyphony do? I thought it changed the number of notes possible to play but it seems there are tonal characteristics also?

  • @GubeonProductions when you use monophony (polyphony to 1) combined with portamento, you get some 'linked' notes, i think this is 'legato' effect.

  • @thiagotecnico That's very interesting yeah, it's just when I'm programming subtractor I don't use that parameter, however people on youtube seem to use it to add a certain quality to their tone. I was under the impression it was more to save on cpu

  • @GubeonProductions yes, more polyphony, more RAM and CPU. more notes playing at the same time, like on pianos or strings samplers (nn-xt). computer goes crazy. with subtractor and its simple synth, polyphony is irrelevant.

  • Cool!

  • great!

  • The best in the youtube in this night. Gretings from Chile

  • Midi file? pleaseeeee

  • the sound is amazing its very close to the original :D but is it just me or did anyone else started getting a headache when playing high notes with it?

  • does any one have a clue how to hook up older midi compatible pianos to reason or other computer music programs such as fl studios (non-controller kind). I have a Casio CTK-601

  • awesome!!!

    his sound!!!

  • Awesome! You got the Moog sound that Jordan uses spot on!

  • programa sinistro

  • omg

    fuckin bad sound^^

    sounds like a gameboy

    you missed the huggy lead

  • would you be willing to send me a midi of this?

  • Excellent!

  • Hey got a question. I have a Casio CTK-551 keyboard (pretty old) and connect it to my pc through a USB cable, made for guitars. If I use Guitar Rig 3, I can play with no probems, but on reason 4 it asks me to select a MIDI input, but I don't have a MIDI cable and don't think my audio card supports MIDI cables....can I make my keyboard work? If so, how?

  • Is it a MIDI to USB cable? If so, you need the correct drivers. If it is just an audio output to USB, then you can't do it. You need an interface with a MIDI input.

  • it's ok my friend, watch this video and compare the sound. /watch?v=TfmhWH7BVA4

  • OMG!!! the guy used my sound. and his video is sped up too. Humans...

  • I have reason 4 and when I load the subtractor it doesn´t have the init patch. Could you tell me the sttings that can´t be seen on the screen like legato or retrig etc.?

  • Its funny how this sounds EXACTLY like "unrequitedreason"'s version. His Ocatvarium solo is sped up..so they claim. and it's sounds just like this. Maybe he took this and used it. lol

  • is midi, played by reason and the sound has nothing to do with the original...

  • No what I'm saying is, Another guy took this MIDI file and pawned it as his own cover..and sped up the video to make it look as if if he was playing full speed.

  • ok, sorry...I don´t understand very well in english

  • @granpastreetz actually he didnt steal the midi, he used the same sound yes. BUT he edited the MIDI signals after recording to make them fit into the tempo and then matched the video to the sound(speeding up or slowing down parts)

  • Hahaha bem loco!! Muito bom!

  • man.. Who are you !!!!!!!!!! ????

  • epic

  • Excellent, man !!! Very very thanks !!

  • dude.....very fuck

  • LOL to all you guys: He doesn't play it. He has put it all into Reason with writing "tabs" on it. But the sound is really nice :-D

  • no, no man. i'm playing ultra speed hard (stfu, lol)

  • idiot

  • :-O

you are really amazing... but really!

the only song of the album that I like...

  • panic attack is a majestic composition too

  • thanks man

  • wow, thanks!

  • Wow, I've been kind've messing with reason for a while, but i'll be learning it as part of my college course this year. Vids like this would be invaluable. I may have to print screen and replicate your settings :P

  • copy that. that's why i've showd how to build the lead

  • Dude!!! That is awesome!!! Thank you for this!!!

  • Hey man. I have Reason 4 and i cant seem to find the init patch. Where is it!?!?

  • reason 4 the subtractor starts with some analogue bass, but that's no problem if you put these sliders at the same positions :P

  • ghehe FREAK, youre fast:)

    put some effects on it!

  • i wuold like to see your finger flying over the keys.good job man.

  • Haha! I would have never thought that was a simple square wave... wtf... awesome playing btw

  • very similar but you sound an anoyying click when a note is played

  • in the original file this doesn't happen, i think something related to youtube's audio compression :S

  • very good!!!muito bom!

  • If I can't find me a keyboard player for the DT covers band project, would you do my sequencing for me? :)

  • would say i'm interested but unfortunatley live in new zealand. I'm trying to put together my own dream theater cover band over here.

  • i'm in Brazil. i've got an Yamaha RD135 motorcycle. maybe we can meet in new zealand LOL

  • I hear it's just like Lord of the Rings there haha.

  • Love it! Sounds just like Jordan Rudess

  • Cara vc tá de parabéns. O som ficou ótimo.

Vc tem partitura desse solo? valeu.

  • the sound comes indeed very close to the original. but i rather think you didn't play the solo on your keyboard, did you?

  • Geesus! that is insane! My god are u playing that on a keyboard? could you explain then what's going on on that keyboard tech wise?

  • He is playing this on his MIDI controller, the portamento makes it look really complicated when you just listen and don't see what his fingers are actually doing (he is a good player though)

  • im gonna ask a dumb question.

well first i just wanna say it sounds almost identical.

but second, how exactly is it playing i don't understand because that's not you right?

  • Reason is a $500 computer program with lots of built in software synths. you plug any keyboard with a MIDI output into the computer and you can control the program and create all kind of different sounds. Though this might be him playing it at a much slower speed then speeding it up

  • sweet! sounds perfect

  • Very cool. Nice sound.

  • Good! but I prefer my roland path, listen in my version please

  • sounds like detuned square lead. I prefer your performance. great work!

  • Really Good!

  • valeu

  • Ohhh Congratulations Man!! A perfect sound, realy similar.

I'll see it with the reason!!

    Perfect solo too

  • It's practically perfect!!!Did you play the solo with your keyboard?

  • sounds programed into the sequencer to me

  • you sir are a patch god, and did you sequence that or play it into the synth?

  • How do you do this with reason 4, since the patches don't start off with init patch?

  • osc1 = 4th octave, saw, linear oscillation

    osc2 = 3rd octave, square, linear oscillation (-)

the knob is Portamento (glide, glissando), set to 40. and Polyphony set to 1

  • Weeyeah Dankz Dood

  • Does anyone know what the octave is set at for osc 1 and 2 and what is the wave type or wave form or whatever its called for osc 1? And which knob is turned to the right on the far left of the screen?

  • osc1 = 4th octave, saw, linear oscillation

    osc2 = 3rd octave, square, linear oscillation

the knob is Portamento (glide, glissando), set to 40. Polyphony set to 1

  • Can you post a video for SUBsTRACTOR? Because I tried it with SUBsTRACTOR and I failed terribly.

  • You Rock

  • thanks man

  • yes

  • if you haven't sequenced it.,,, bravo!!!! That was just amazing!

  • Simply amazing

  • Wow..just WOW !!!

    awesome man !!!

  • It's Dream Theater with Octavarium.

  • cool!!!! is that piece yours?

  • No. It's from a song called Octavarium.

  • holy SHIT! That's insane!

  • I'm speechless! wow!....there's reallu AWESOME!!!!

  • Wauw great :D

  • Hi, very nice !! excellent work. Where did u get the partitures from ?? thx

  • Perfect! Can't really say anything else. :)

  • crazy :D

  • *applauds* I laughed. But well played.

  • Please Please Please name me some songs that have synth solos like this!!!!

  • Octavarium (look at the video title lol)... and its Dream Theater

  • Dude.... i'm not fucking retarded!! Fucking hell...

I was asking for songs that have synth solos LIKE THIS.

  • Buenaaa! suena de lujo

    saludos

  • Uh.. it isnt actually. The concept is, however the music and design is not. AGain, you're used to over effected techno shit, fifty oscillators, phasers, flange delay and all that crap. Makes nice sounds, but sounds rubbish, especially in repetitive techno where they are msot commonly used.

  • Nice, I have a quick question. theres a delay between my midi controller and they program, well actually im useing my Korg MicroKorg synth, with a midi usb interface plug. can someone tell me how to maybe fix that up so i dont have the delay?

  • yes, download "Asio4all".(google it). An alternative way of Microsoft's DirectSound. just install it and choose Asio4all in the program properties. 13ms is the safest latency. In this video i'm using asio4all to play with super low latency.

  • nice one!

  • You listened to Marillion right? early 80's, market square heroes, garden party ?

  • i justed asked a very stupid question...sorry!!!

  • lol no problem, you're truly welcome here.

  • are you playing this?mail me?

  • just in the beginning.

  • I've got a question. I just got this program, but I don't have a MIDI controller yet, I have not figured out a way to get sounds out of it. Even the online sample songs don't work. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.

  • should download asio4all, install it and choose it in edit>preferences>audio menu. first you should create an mixer, press TAB and see if everything is connected ok. now use the piano roll to choose the rack and you can enter edit mode to write the notes just clickng with your mouse

  • Cool. Thank you.

  • Spot on. Nicely done, you've got a good ear.

  • am trying to figure out if the guy had a different sound pattern on each finger press and how he arranged for the notes-the synthesiser sucks quite a lot but the programming is brilliant-the patch sounds like a cheap 80s job-a bit electro maybe

  • youre too used to the over effected techno shit arent you.

    *headshakes*

  • this patch only uses 2 oscillators, there is no velocity and it is extremely simple. this sounds is 'game-boy' style.

  • Holy crap that is spot on!

  • ah alright nice vid :D

  • did you get the demo?

  • i bought it, i use it professionally, this video is a hobby work i did just to show the power of subtractor for analog synth

  • wow dude that was amazing... :DD

    Every note was right !

Howd you do it and I want this program... :)

    Will it work for Vista?

  • windows vista runs reason ok

  • Very nice, I'd love to perform with that! ^^

  • Awesome dude! Can I do it with any keyboard?

  • i'm using behringer UMX61 usb keyboard (music keyboard). google it and see. you can do it with any MIDI keyboard. just connect it on your pc. doesnt matter the way you connect. both usb and gameport are possible. see "Edirol midi to usb". it's a great way.

  • How can I use this on a real keyboard? I got a v synth GT. Sorry im like a new guy in this synthesis analog and digital stuff . I would apreciatte some help

  • you sould search for "additive synthesis". Very simple way to make leads. I used 1 saw and 1 square. the secret is the oscilator phase mode that gives the 'real' sound.

  • Can I download it from the pc to the v-synth somehow??

  • The V synth has the same, if not larger capability than the subtractor, it's just ahrder to use

  • That's fantastic, good job guy !!!

  • Do you play on this video?

  • just in the beginning

  • nicly done. reason is a little tricky software but it seems you were well done in building octavarium lead ;)

it was really nice to listen the synth solo alone =)

  • sorry, really i won't to be offensive, nice work anyway

  • you're sending a midi performance, too much accurate...

  • it's about Lead building, not performance

  • veeery veery nice, i think a little bit of delay more on the sound and it will be perfect...

    greets from Chile!

  • GREAT dude! I'mm passing this to my keybordist friend

  • As I already said, awesome man. Would sound a lot better slowed down to the actual tempo, but well done. :D

  • AWESOME

  • AWEAPARECE

  • awesome man... did you build it up completely??
