I am a massive fan of Prince. But Kevin makes some really good points. Prince's genius is a non negotiable. But Prince would do well to watch this video and heed the points made by Kevin. Prince supposedly converted in 2001, but to me, from what I remember he was always been somewhat religious and definitely had issues with cursing. So, basically, Kevin Smith just called Prince so that he could borrow one of his songs for a movie. Instead, Prince cons him into doing a documentary that Kevin has no desire to do, for free, wasted Kevin's week, almost made him miss father's day, and didn't even plan on showing up to the Q&A sessions he wanted Kevin to record? And after Kevin did ALL of that, for free again, he didn't even let him use the song he wanted?

The man asked him exactly what happened with the Prince ordeal, so Smith told him everything that happened, from his perspective. He wasn't attacking him, he was just telling his account of what happened.

When Prince criticized Jersey Girl, Kevin wanted (but failed) to take a shot at him with the "Under the Cherry Moon" comment. Sure, it wasn't that great of a film, but the soundtrack made up for it and the backlash for an opinion wasn't at all necessary. Sure, he has the right to do it, but it's a very childish move for a 30 year old.

Its there Smith learns from Prince's former manager he is a Jehovah's witness now and also that Prince wasn't pleased Kevin didn't sign a NDA I believe.

Prince supposedly converted in 2001, but to me, from what I remember he was always been somewhat religious and definitely had issues with cursing. My point is that as weird as Prince is if there is another realm above Kevin Smith's, then that is where Prince is at. Prince plays any instrument you hand him, writes his own songs, designs his own sets, discovers talent, designs album covers and is likely one of the greatest guitarists alive. It would have been bad if they worked together.

That movie came out in 2001 and was worked on in that time period of 2000 likely. The DVD Q & A's with college kids was done from 2001/2002 and released. Smith basically was detailing the story from that period. Plus remember...its not Smith who started that. The kid asked a question and brought it up of Smith and Prince.
