Great movie, saw it when it came out. I always wanted to know what HDS was singing- very moving, like a good 'ol boy gone bad, singing the blues, knowing that he'd done wrong, and finding comfort in Jesus.

fyi....I just checked Amazon and they do have the soundtrack (with Just a Closer Walk With Thee, and Plastic Jesus, but not Midnight Special). I couldn't find a version for download; I might have to make the purchase. This might be my favorite movie of all time.

What a song! I can remember seeing this film for the first time when i was a kid in the 80's, i absolutely loved it then and even more now! Probably seen it 50 times and can see it another 50 times! They just dont make movies like these anymore friends, and i 'spect they never will! I learned this song a few years ago because i love to sing it, wish i lived back in simpler times where u'd be content to sit on the porch with a glass a sweet tea amongst friends and praise the Lord together!
