It's ironic that the railway line the bear's walking along was once an electric commuter railway for the city of Vancouver, British Columbia. Electric service was abandoned in the 1950s because the government of the time favoured the private automobile. They spent a lot of money on huge highway projects designed to buy votes. Little has changed.
