Anyone notice how nervous and heavy Kristol's breathing was? That in itself shows he can't even defend Bush without feeling like shit. His conclusion on Obama continuing Bush's policies made me laugh.
Although I disagree with Kristol about 99% of the time, he's probably nervous because he knows that the crowd is most likely leaning in favor of Bush being the worst president of the last fifty years. He's got a tough position to fill. I've done speeches where I thought I was on the opposite side of my audience. That feeling sucks and he actually composed himself well enough to give his speech. On that note I completely disagree with him.
Respectfully, I think you're both mistaken. I've watched Kristol for years; the heavy breathing and the bookish demeanor - it's just the way he is. He's always seemed a little wishy-washy by nature. That said, I think he's an exceptionally bright fellow who, unfortunately, has endured a lot of crap from naive, uncharitable, young idealists through his speaking career. Bill's good, but his father Irving was a genius.
Because I haven't seen much of his work I'm going to have to agree with you. If what you say of his father is true I'd love to see some of his speeches.
KRISTOL (whose dad is a TROTSKYITE)is part of the MARXIST JUDAIZER gang who brought us 9/11 for the purpose of FIGHTING ENDLESS WARS FOR ISRAEL which will BANKRUPT AMERICA. But Americans are so DUMB & UNINFORMED that they never catch on to this JUDAIZER scam. And US SOLDIERS keep marching off to war for the JUDAIZER GANG.
The Qu'ran is not a "holy terrorist manual war book." It talks about Jesus Christ as an important prophet, it talks about coexisting with Christians and Jews as long as they don't try and control the Muslim people and their religion.
The highest suicide bombing rate in the world exists in Sri Lanka. It's NOT a Muslim thing. It's an occupation thing. It's what people do when they have no other valid military option.
I'm not Muslim. Nor a traditional Christian. I like the Jefferson Bible.
BigHitter fact check if the Qu'ran talks about coexisting with Christians and Jews, why are religious minorities persecuted everyday in Muslim countries?
They generally aren't. 35,000 Jews live without persecution in Iran, Christians live ALL over the middle east without persecution, generally there is very little religious persecution. It doesn't matter if you're Jewish or Christian, as long as you aren't Israeli or American.
Don't call fact check on me, I lived in the UAE for three years back in the 90's.
No really: fact check. Saudi Arabia does not allow religious freedom, if you are not a Muslim, you cannot practice your religion there.
So it matters if you are Israeli or American if you try to apply for a visa to go to Middle East countries. LOL I didn't know that, but I guess it's another good reason to justify bar Mid Easterners from going to the US
And I think I might have missed out on the execution of 2 Christians by the Taliban in the SWAT area of Pakistan just a few days ago.
The government of Saudi Arabia(while tyrannical and horrible,) absolutely does not prohibit the private worship of any religion.
The Taliban is not a very good representation of Muslim law...that's like saying that the Westboro Baptist Church represents Christians.
You didn't know that an Israeli stamp in your passport prevents you from entering many middle eastern countries? Since that's the case, your thoughts might not be valid on this issue.
SmallHitter fact check: Private or public, it still does not change the fact that the Constitution of Saudi Arabia forbids the practice of any religion that is non-Islamic.
About the Taliban, you're missing the point as it has nothing to do with jurisprudence but everything to do with your hypocrisy when you said, "Christians live ALL over the middle east without persecution."
On the Israeli thing, Isince when did "knowledge" justify censorship? Besides, I'm not even talking about
the Israeli passport issue from a political perspective, but from a moral perspective (which in any case does not require any "specialist knowledge" about the Middle East region): if M.E countries bar Israeli/American from entering their countries, then Muslims cannot complain if the 2 countries reciprocate.
"if M.E countries bar Israeli/American from entering their countries, then Muslims cannot complain if the 2 countries reciprocate." Totally agree...today though Americans are only prohibited from going to Saudi Arabia if they have an Israeli stamp in their passport(easily fixable, get a new passport.)
Morally we shouldn't punish Saudis for what their tyrannical government does. The Saudi people would forget about us entirely if we stopped sending their government billions of enabling dollars.
Changing my name is very cool and really makes you come off as the intellectual heavyweight in this ridiculous debate.
The constitution of Saudi Arabia is an almost entirely religious document with the exception of the fact that it establishes a monarchy. It doesn't change the fact that Shari'ah(which it is affirming,) requires that Muslims coexist peacefully with Christians and Jews, so long as they aren't converting/screwing with Muslims.
Smallhitter: you can't have a debate with a person who uses arguments based on a warped understanding of justice that even a toddler would call a sin against common sense. For example: anybody with half a brain would know that in Shari'ah, women have half the rights of men, that it's not an act of impartiality to say the US is persecuting others while Saudi Arabia persecutes non-Muslims for no other reason than the fact that they ARE non-Muslims and that in every country with a Muslim majority
the non-Muslim population thereafter either reduces DRAMATICALLY or is systematically religiously discriminated against.
I have no idea what you are trying to say with the Israeli thing. What the hell does going to Israel have to do with me saying Islamophobia is justified?
You are right, America should not send any more foreign aid to the KSA. Instead, it should invest it in its military and economy to prepare itself for the not-so-distant WWIII with Islam and Communists vs. the rest.
"A pretty impressive president," eh? This is cognitive bilge. Mr. Kristol sees the results of poor judgment and approves. We wish him well with his dementia.
I've never been much of a bill kristol fan, and i'm certainly not a bush fan either. But i thought for the pretty steep task he had of defending bush, he did a pretty solid job.
Also...was it me, or was his breathing somewhat heavy? As though he was kind of nervous?
it's hard to push a statement on "What if we didn't do this?" because that is incredibly hard to predict unless there is a strong amount of facts.
