  • wOW...

  • Glad they spent all this money recreating 40 year old American technology instead of investing in public health and transportation. *sigh*

  • @VirgoIsRising ----india spends 1 trillion dollars in infrastructure

  • You people should be thankful to those people. Now we can finally find out what U.S. constitution has been hiding for us.

  • it appears they are running that thing on Windows XP or 2000 according to the screen shots. I hope they don't put any people inside their rockets or Brahma/Vishnu/Krishna/Buddha help them

  • maybe try feeding your people first

  • when we try feding our people hungry chineese &paks pluk the food packets away from them.

  • @s0ulseek3r people of India r still poor not due 2 d spendings of d government towards d science missions, but due to corruption, d enormous amount of Indian money stacked in foreign banks....which r Indian tax payer's money....and which r supposed to be used for India's welfare. Once, a Swiss bank director said, "Indians r poor but India is not a poor country......." --based on d amount of money stacked in Swiss banks only. So stopping the progress of science is not d solution.......

  • Hurray for India! Finally we are gonna send people to the moon again!

Hope u all understand Islam
  • India isn't Islam, Thats why Pakistan is there. Not to say that their isn't moslems in India. Most of the things you mentioned as firsts are from the pre Vedic Indus valley civilization also known as Hindu, Not Islam they came thousands of years later. as usurpers.

  • 1- I didn't say that the Indian civilization is brought by Islam.

2- India & Pakistan are one civilization & we should not segregate their heritage.

    3- Peace on Earth.

  • Agreed , peace.

  • haha. curry

  • the rocket looks like it was filled with curry

  • As an American who loves Space. I am overjoyed that India may try and land a man on the moon. It could spur another spare race, this time not driven on fear of destruction, but of realization that Space is the only future Humanity has and will ever have.

  • Oh wow I cant believe how much you guys have argued. This argument is bigger than the video itself.

I think it generated from people being jealous of how smart indians are. They see indians getting better jobs than them, so they develop racism.

  • so when the yanks finally get there, they can order a curry at the kwik-e-mart

  • fantastic!!

  • @jagg3d91 i thought there were only 7 billion people or so on Earth, how'd you come up with 300, 000, 000, million? isnt that 300 trillion?

not to make a fool out of myself but im confused.

  • Good to see Uk hand helped =)

  • rofl..the title of the next Bollywood movie: "Sanjay and his curry powered chutney rice rocket goes to the moon"

  • Hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

  • good for india

  • Welcome to space, people of India! A mighty achievement indeed for a proud and brave nation!

One question though: If you can afford to blow billions of dollars mapping the lunar surface, why do I still have to endure long, painful TV commercials from the Leprosy Mission, asking me for $29 a month to cure little 7 year old Indira?

"India has the highest incidence of leprosy in the world..."

How about curing your lepers before you worry about space adventure?

    Indira will thank you.

  • @Icehut people of India r still poor not due 2 d spendings of d government towards d science missions, but due to corruption, d enormous amount of Indian money stacked in foreign banks....which r Indian tax payer's money....and which r supposed to be used for India's welfare. • they should take a cow with them to the moon.

  • Ha! And this is coming from someone who lives in a country where a quarter of the population thinks the Earth was created by "God" 5000 years ago!!!

  • hmm what country am i from?

  • wow! i didnt even know india has space programs... im sorry for being ignorant.

    THAT WAS AWESOME

  • hell fucking yeah!!!! booo ya !! India is the bomb! (whats with all this serious talk??? :)

  • Бля буду,красавчики!!!!

  • icehut-well put.

  • Dont believe anything they say, they may be going to the moon but it probaly has nothing to do with what they said here, theyre not going to tell you the real reason they are up there and the moon is probaly flooded with aliens

  • Die.

  • That was a most intelligent response you must be six years old, and you are obviously already dead, at least mentally.

  • Yea, sure. Whatever.

  • wohoo we went into space XD>...

    JAI HIND!

  • Congratulations to the proud people of India!

Are you hoping to find food on the Moon? Most countries try to feed their starving masses before mapping the lunar surface. Hundreds of millions of Indians living in their own waste, average income of ten cents a day, no health care, no clean water... and you decide to spend billions exploring the cosmos?

    Good luck with that.

  • Not all problems are solved by throwing money at them though, the poverty in India will be solved by new infrastructure and reform of social systems. This is good science, and they should be congratulated.

  • well yes we will find food through this program but bye the cash flow ..as other nation are willing to use our services..but thanks for your crtical and spontaneous comment, before i say good luck to you,i want you google indian space program and its eye on the commercial launches..i think it will let you know how you can find food, hope you had your fish and chips..

  • done with ur rant? sure? now fuck off

  • Good for India! I suppose we'll learn more about the moon through their research! wow that was corny....

  • Interesting but why cant the narator speak properly? She sounds like a dull robot.

  • proud to b a indian

    //////////////

    could smell a burning smell

    haahhahahhahahahaha

east or west india is best

  • wtf? where are you from?

  • india

  • >.>

  • The spoils of persistance. A lesson for every indiviual, read the history of the Indian space program. Be inspired.

  • boxersoho my country is a dumb? if the Philippines is poor why there's a lot of Indians here in the Philippines and making business. you know what other country help you in your first mission to the moon ok and dont forget that. i didn't say bad things for your country well we all know that the india is poor like philippines and like other poor country.. are you happy now? i didn't say your country is a dumb i'm just saying that if the indians use the money to help the poor people is much better

  • Why cant we all be on our best behaviour? Too many people on this planet!!!!!!!!!! 90% of them are idiots! With all this fighting and our leaders who do nothing, how the hell do we plan to save this planet?? Wake the freak up people!

  • Most of Europeans that are bragging here about indian moon mission can do 2 things immediately:

    1. Throw their PC because intel chip is developed by indian.

    2. Disconnect their Internet connection as its carried by indian owned reliance company: FLAG telecom. It connects europe to america via 180 Gbps link.

    BEST OF LUCK

  • i never knew monkeys can go to the moon hahahah fake indians are stupid and ugly shit

  • Irish sending a rocket to moon in two weeks time....

  • I will take monkeys as irish and you are correct you have never been to moon and never will be. You can scratch your ass with jealousy but no one can change reality.

Get a life and stop cursing others coz ur nation is so dumb that they cannot do it.

  • stop arguing. India did it with the help of other country. actually it's a big amount of money to go to outer space. the big issue is they can do that but we all know India is one of the poor and corrupt country. anyway i just want to say that food and shelter is the most important. peace

  • Live rates at 2008.11.02 17:35:16 UTC

    1.00 PHP = 1.00673 INR-look at the currency exchange.

    Philipines GDP(PPP) $497.673 billion

    India GDP(PPP) $1,100 trillion <<< wikipedia

Still india is a poor country?

Put ur hands on your squintty eyes, stretch them and see the reality. Dont be jealous just because ur dumb nation cannot do it. For you food and shelter might be important until tsunami blow ur asses off!! people like u r lagging behind coz they dont know how much one can gain from space mkt.

  • boxersoho my country is a dumb? if the Philippines is poor why there's a lot of Indians here in the Philippines and making business. you know what other country help you in your first mission to the moon ok and dont forget that. i didn't say bad things to your country well we all know that the india is poor like philippines and like other poor country.. are you happy now? i didn't say your country is a dumb i'm just saying that if the indians use the money to help the poor people is much better

  • Moon mission has many other significance

    1. India can now deploy satellites of other countries and make shit load of money.

    2. We can send our satellite to space and lease them for communication purpose to Internet service providers.

    3. We can now build our own missiles to protect from china/Pakistan rather than buying from EU/US

4.On what source are u saying other countries contribution to moon mission? Any news, other space agencies? Rather india launched other nations satellites for free.

  • Those indians in Philipines came when india was lagging. Now we have surpassed ur country. Millions of you are present in canada/US. why? Science and tech cant wait for nation to get developed. Instead more powerful and technologically advance a nation is, more companies would like to invest there. And here we are talking about $80 million, cheapest moon mission in history. You will be surprised to know india's defence budget-its in billions. Should we give up that too?

  • "India did it with the help of other country"- False, India did it on its own! now wud you please shut up?

  • Well Done India also aim for Mars, Jupiter and far away Stars in future.

ISRO Keep Up the Good Work.

  • Boldly going where everyone has gone before.

  • but the objectives are totally different

  • isro. org/pressrelease/Oct31_2008.htm

    fix the url.

  • lololol indian accent countdown. The growing army of Ramanujans will begin cranking out more and more technology and take over the world with their nerdiness!

  • That's true: ISRO and the Indian government put up a very poor PR show. They don't understand that the world is watching an important event as this one. Not that I have anything against the accent, but if it is going to invite derision and ridicule, why not do something about it? This is where good PR come into play; and they have none of it.

  • Well Done India also reach Mars and Jupiter and far away Stars in future.

ISRO Keep Up the Good Work.

  • they spend money on this but what about the staggering poverty they have, along with the fate of the dalits

  • sorry to say, but ur acute sight perhaps has not picked up the "very low cost- extremely efficient" mission, and it's prospects of finding sources of energy for the future!, also the funding for ISRO comes from it's commercial satellite launches that it does for other countries.

  • Those details were left out. Inthe Union Tribune they mention India doing it for bragging rights. If it is as you say--I'll research I guess, then why do they still ignore other pressing problems? Why do they still treat the Dalits as subhuman, especially when they have suffered discrimination in the past? They have the resources to be a world power, yet they have so much poverty.

  • To Loren669

Oh yeah so why send team for Olympics or any sports, just feed the poor. Why have TV channels just feed the poor. Why spend on mobile phones, just feed the poor. Why spend money on research, just feed the poor. Why build n-power plants just feed the poor. Why build any amusement parks, just feed the poor. Why produce movies, just feed the poor. Just keep feeding the poor so that they need not worry being poor b'coz they are fed anyways.

  • so u mean we cannot even spend 80 million $, and by da way dalits have become the ruling class and indian govt has outlawed caste based discrimination six decades ago, also indian govt provides them with reservation in jobs and education sector

  • stop copying old newspaper clipping, open up your mind, you really really mentally poor fellow.

  • wooohoooo go india

  • Tippu Sultan and his father, Haidar Ali were the first to use rockets in warfare. In 1780, during the Second Anglo-Mysore War, at the battle of Pollilur, Colonel William Braille's ammunition stores were thought to have detonated by rockets, resulting in a humiliating British defeat. The British were so impressed by the rockets. Colonel William Congreve had later confirmed that the rockets then available in Britain had a range less than half that of Tippus rockets.

  • India will be launching Mars mission in near future. Bigots in the West can cheer for Britney shitty dance. While, Indians will rock the moon and mars.

  • Lol we've had rovers on mars already and they haven't even done that on the moon bahahah. Come on now. India isn't the place to beat us to mars.

  • Mars Rovers did what? To see if Playing football in Mars is possible?? Nasa and the ESA will piggy back on every India mission from now on. Grow up.

  • LOL. vour...free....ttwo...van...

  • it'll do. I heard the shuttle program was being scrapped in a few years ? the corporate military complex of the united states might bring out the new clean and efficent space toy they've been hiding. Predator countries dominated by corporate funding then exploit the thrid world further for becoming industrialized and adding heavily to the pollution problem with there obsolete technology...while we all sleep walk with our bag of vain materialistic garbage into a financial slavery system.

  • late 2009 shuttle gets retired

2015 new Orion rocket system comes in

  • What did they do? Put a tech support on the moon so more people can get shitty tech support anywhere on the earth now?

  • Yes to exploit you fat-ass resource guzzling Americans that do nothing but consume...

    Stereotypes suck...

  • At least we can consume enough to be comfortable. Until we need help with our computers and some fucking moron from India tried to help us with it through broken English.

  • maa ki chut teri bhosadike

  • Who cares who gets there mankinds destiny is in deep space, I congratulate any effort to get us to out destiny.

  • Yes! Yes! It is official now! Our Bangalore is getting an Astronaut Training Centre for all further Indian manned missions! It will be completed by 2010 under 11th 5 year plan! All people wanting to become gaganauts please join the Indian Airforce and from 2011 India will start training gaganauts in Bangalore ! I am really proud!

Russian officials will oversee all facilities and training !

Please if u want to become a Gaganaut please join IAF today!!!

    GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL.. juggernaut! =P But yeah.. it's good to see developing nations doing their thang.

  • LOL_INDIA

  • hi.dont miss to watch the exclusive leaked video of first batch of indian astronauts.they will be the first indians on moon.the was made by one of the astronauts through mobile which was stolen and then leaked.

    jai hind

  • To the MOON Alice.

  • NASA programs are not internationally funded as it was constituted by a special Act of the Congress.

Only in specific projects it is permitted to share the costs due to the projects having a bearing on the nation's defense.

At any rate there were no such co-operation in the Apollo program at the height of the Cold War.

  • True statement!

  • Wstonci

So what do we have here, a fucking white pussy who talks rubbish. Be more concerned with your smelly ass, you dog fucker.

  • kewl =]

  • alright, lets start living on the moon people!!!

  • How about Philippines~?

    T_T

  • India is going back home to space!

  • congratulations to India!

Welcome to the big space party of the US, Russia, China and Japan!

  • well done india...kick that moon ass...woohoo

  • You're quite lucky to be so close to the equator, must be much more economic (fuel wise) to launch stuff down there than from up here in the north of Europe.

  • wouldnt it be cool if they landed on the sea of tranquility and did NOT find the U.S. spacecraft?

    ;)

  • Maybe if they go up there they can visit the Sea of Tranquility and see if the (illegal) US flag is still up there.

  • Why is it an illegal flag?

  • I used the wrong word, it would only become "illegal" if it the moon was viewed as territory. "Inapropriate" would've been more correct as the NASA mission (altho majority American) was internationally funded & run.

Prior to the moon-landing, NASA itself debated whether flag-raising would be internationally seen as illegal appropriation or merely symbolic of national pride.

International law states that "outer space, including the moon, is not subject to national appropriation by any means."

  • well. Hopfully they didnt put the flag as a means of newly found property but just as pride and such of being on the moon. and just sayin that they were there. I say any country who puts a man on the moon from any country out that flag right next to ours. all at same level. just to mark the movements forward of all nations.

  • Good idea man

  • Yea, it's just like the flags people leave at the peak of Everest. It's not like they're claiming it as territory or something.

  • the fist to have a permanent military base up there has control over earth at a push of a Blackmail button

  • expected but i hope it doesnt happend in my life time.

  • India is not a Muslim country. Indians are not Muslims. The main reason why Pakistan & Bangladesh split from them is because they're not Muslim.

They have a democratic, secular government and their Constitution guarantees freedom & equality of religion.

They are a majority Hindu population but have Muslim, Jain, Buddhist & Sikh minorities. The majority of the Muslim population is in the Kashmir region which is why there have been conflicts with Pakistan over the territory.

  • get more countries to go to the moon and will start a galaxy war Cause america already thinks that we own the moon anyway if india goes up there then they might try to claim it and boom we screwed

  • Space wars seems to be hundreds of years away thankfully komotoko.

  • Lol blueman-group scientist @ 0:49

  • You idiots, Indians aren't Muslim, in fact they are the most anti-islam worldwide.

    Smart MFers!

  • see all the curry powder flying. ccurry makes you strong, you ccan fart your way to the moon

jk, Great from india, but don't see the point in doing the same thing twice, but i hope it will be an inspiration and build your confidence. please do something new like finding a cure for a disease or something next time.

    anyhow, nice!

  • Sending them to the moon? You mean, filming it on a sound stage!

At least other countries are trying to move humanity forward...

  • pmsl is it me or does it still remind me of that Indian Michael Jackson thriller rip off..lol

  • Good to hear they are going to map the moon's surface in more detail than ever before. I wonder if they will spot any signs that we have been there before. =)

  • go UK and ESA!!!!!!!!! and india

  • NewScientist is so effing informative. KEEP THESE VIDEOS COMING!!! PLEASE!!!!! Never stop :-D

  • 0:28 is clearly a 3d picture, why did they mix that in there?

  • india is a pretty smart country

  • unsubscribing.. just because the iritating voice and lack of interesting videos lately

  • what's wrong with my voice?

  • So who will be first on the moon(man wise) again?

  • vIAJE A LA lUNA !!! ... Y LA GENTE QUE SE LES MUERE DE HAMBRE TODOS LOS DIAS QUE ??? !!! ;[

  • Indian Fireworks Blast Kills 25 today

  • al qaeda obviously

  • Its commendable that unlike other space agencies in the world, Indian space agency not only does its work much much cheaper but also generates more than twice it spends by selling the remote sensing images, weather images, taking payloads over their crafts etc, etc. Indians always believe in sharing. That is why it takes loads of NASA, ESA and other countries free on their launches.

  • thank u dm2...that was quite enlightening...please accept my invitation to visit india(expenses paid)...maybe i can help u find some answers to the question u posted..

  • no thanks. that have been rhetorical questions. I already know all those things. besides India is no safe place for female european tourists. at least according to the articles from Indian online newspapers I've recently read. thanks but I'd rather not get molested or even raped.

  • @DM2A4...oops such a insight again...i always thought european are good at debating anyway u generalize as good as any AL QAEDA fanatic will do..and when u will realize the difference between urself and the al qaeda fanatic and those ppl who raped christian and killed muslims u will know that there actually is no difference....i understand neither molestation or rape happens in europe plus there are no ethnic tension....

  • @DM2 from where i saw...u were fighting the same overzealous n generalized statement made by some ppl about west not sharing knowledge(which was obviously not 100% true even if not wrong)...

but u know i had objections to the question u raised (though i was quite unsure about the tone not sure whether u intended to play down india or u were just hurt at what other ppl said).. MAAM only if u had not accused me of being a rapist we cud hv had a nice discussion..

  • Lunatic - Indians did the work early on in the space race by inventing mathematics. If we'd stayed with Roman Numerals you would have been lucky to get past the atmosphere.....

    Full marks to the injuns!

  • it only cost them $80,000,000

  • ya thats cool that they're contributing to science, but like rffshvj said, thers a population crisis and space travel is extravagant.

  • keep in mind: in India people are still starving to death because they don't have anything. Why do they have to blast their money out???

  • lol, same reason we slaughter iraqi's. central bank > create fiat currency > buy billion dollar toys > value of currency inflates > poor people struggle > rich spend more, but dont care cuz ther rich, then they vote mccain to keep it that way.

  • I love how bluntly you put it...

  • This mission has the possibility of rudely awakening the pseudo-scientific community to a fact that has been documented thousands of years ago in poorly understood holy text - that the moon was once a luminous body as hot as our sun and held a geo-stationary position directly opposite the sun. This arrangement bathed the earth in 24hrs of sunlight and plants and animals were many times bigger than they are now and explains why tropical vegetation is found at the earth's polar regions.

  • holy shit, as hot as our sun and 238,855 miles away? ok im on board your wacky train, whats the next stop? nibiru? alpha centauri? david ickes hot tub?

  • The earth was at the time protected by a layer of water approximately a mile thick which fell as Noah's flood and which is now trapped as ice in our polar regions. The heat of a luminous moon keep this layer of water in place. I do not subscribe to David Icke's crap, but he does raise more than a few interesting points.

  • are you on crack or just idiot?

  • Your response is typical and entirely anticipated. Thank you. The amount of helium 3 in moon rocks is screaming evidence that the moon was a luminous body. Please refer to my response to KrittikalDimensions for the other pieces of the puzzle.

  • Notice how people are cheering on India to go to the moon and are excited about their space program. On the other hand people look at the Chinese space program in fear because it reminds them of the Soviets. The Chinese should really stop this outdated communist nonsense and make democratic reforms already. It's ridiculous.

  • socialism is not contrary to democracy imo, its the dictatorship it represents, after all democracy is the government of people and socialism is the equal distribution of resources among these same people. that's why anarchists think of themselves as free socialists, same as cuba but without castro.

  • I'm sure someone had made similar comments already but I just feel that india has more pressing problems than landing on the moon at this point. There are many issues with their living conditions such as sanitation of water supplies where they could use some serious investment of money, time, and engineering minds to help solve. And no, I'm not an environmentalist.

  • That seems like a pretty good point, but I wonder how much their living conditions and sanitation issues are problems, or just a different way of life. I'm surprised to learn India even has a space program...

  • Not really.Think. All the impulse to science and technology. All the new products and all the good press... its unvaluable. The world used to buy american products because of its good press, now people feel no fear to buy Indian or even chinese products, because the world begins to see their technology as trustable...good science, good businness, good money, food in the plate.

  • wow;

    thats pretty cool

  • go india ... for the mision to the soon

  • Nice work, India!

  • no doubt they wanna build a call centre up there.

  • LOL!!!!

  • Bwhahahahaa!!!!

  • LOLz these words come out of Lost neglected island. Hey get in ur Eskimo.

  • Yeah, like i care! least you can do is fart all day long in your skirt-GAY.LOLz
