Love your work Harry! It's a disgrace what has happened to Australia's birdlife. Time and again we hear farmers claiming to understand the land better than anyone else and claim they should be left to continue with business as usual. Of course they don't have a clue about the land and the continuing decline of Australian birds bears testament to this fact.
I am going to take that as nearly 700 resident bird species, seeing as there is over 800 species recorded in Australia...
There are just so many pressures on bird populations in Australia; and as Dr Recher points out, it is not just from alien species, but also those species which have benefited from the changes we have wrought in the landscape, it is sad to think that some of our species will go extinct within our lifetime without the vast majority of people even knowing then existed
@ozegirl568 He's your dad? Good onya! Harry inspired me to get started in field ornithology in the mid 1970's in Brisbane Waters National Park. It's been a wonderful life long career and opportunity to make a difference in something that really matters.
Exceptional credibility. Dr. Recher brings his long career to the table. Addresses the past, present, and the fearful future. Man's impact. Developments. Farms. Overgrazing. Climate change. Weather. This video should be watched be every student of biology, world location irrelevant. This is not just an Australian concern . . . the same categories of concern around the world. Job well done, Dr. Recher
