@divaevelyn belly breathe? as opposed to what? if you gather that he's breathing is clavicular in any way, you're nuts. "Belly breathing" sounds like a gimmick. Nothing should ever replace simple natural breathing. Again, he was nearly the only one standing at the end of Don Carlo. You don't get through a role like that w/ poor breathing technique. I believe he's a student of a renowned teacher in New York, who has had plenty of singers at the Met for years. Again, get real...
I have listened to this young man over and over again, and I am completely astounded at his talent. He looks very young, but he sounds very experienced. What a bright future he has ahead of him with that glorious instrument!
It's a a wonderful voice! But if he doesn't learn to breathe properly, it's going to be a short career. You can sing on youth and guts for only so long and then the muscles say, "Have a nice day!" LEARN TO BELLY BREATHE!! And don't ever touch the piano --it steals your power. Glorious sound though! He should have great opportunities.
