Maybe a lot of people understand this - they just enjoy the benefits of this religion, the group cohesion, the priviliges granted in western societies. They might even know that people laugh at them for believing this joke. And, lets face it, a unified 'world view' might be useful for sustaining humanity. I am a former catholic, therefore I do not know Islam. But I think you might find interesting that in the book of acts (chapter 5, verses 1-11), when it is mentioned for the first time the community of christians as a "church", it was done in a frame of such a fear that there was silence!

But He works with each individual as much as He can to get them to see themselves and hear His voice... He always worked that way. For example, the burning alive of babies to ancient gods, massive orgies, and ceremonial prostitutions-- these were avid in these societies. God could see in the future, "What would come of these people 50 yrs from now? 100? 1000?" and had them destroyed. This is what I believe. And the Israelites weren't "perfect"--far from it. They were disobedient, and God punished them accordingly, yet with mercy

As for me, although I felt guilt for my sins, I would never give them up if hell didn't exist. I am a former catholic, therefore I do not know Islam. But I think you might find interesting that in the book of acts (chapter 5, verses 1-11), when it is mentioned for the first time the community of christians as a "church", it was done in a frame of such a fear that there was silence!
So Islam and Christianity seems to have this in common!

@barefootID I am not trying to explain Christianity to an ex-christian. U know what Christ-ianity is, but u decided to abondon Him/it. U run away from Him now, & ull encounter Him on ur death as Judge. "For since the creation of the world God's invisible attributes-his eternal power and divine nature-have been understood and observed by what he made, so that people are without excuse." Rom 1:20. !MORAL! "I said to the LORD, "You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you." Ps16:2.

i personally don't believe in god... and i don't have a problem with people believing in god..
i have a problem with them believing obvious fake gods i.e Allah which can be seen to be total baloney :D
if god exists, he wouldn't be so silly as allah, coz allah is only good at finding excuses to torture you... plus if god wrote books, they would be much more amazing than the quran..
and he wouldn't send prophets who have sex with babies like muhammad did with a 9 year old :D

You appear too rational to have ever been a muslim I'm guessing you were born into it. There must be millions of rational people also born into it but afraid to speak up. It's not just islam they are all as bad as each other little difference in the koran and bible. There is too much sickness in the world of religions.
