He didn't play 53 minutes, he was subbed in the 31st minute and then taken out in the 53rd minute, because he was so bad. So he played for 22 minutes.

You have to admire the guy though, african conmen rarely succeed but this con worked. They paid his agent 100.000 pounds for a 1 month trial. Imagine the trainer's disappointment when he realised he'd been had and that he just brought on a faker who couldn't play at all in front of thousands of fans.

As for afterwards, he did indeed play for Gateshead for a few months, before giving football up for a business degree course at Northumbria University. (He successfully passed, for once!) Since then, he has slunk back to anonymity.
