The Ataris have been my favorite band for years, and for whatever reason I just googled "Ben Lee speaks about The Ataris", and I found this.. This is awesome :P Look into the song by The Ataris called "My So- Called Life", it's about Claire Danes (hence the title), who Ben dated. I think there was a short lived trend with all of this.
I know Ben Lee plays a lot of feel-good pop and some strange emo-music-speak but I don't really understand why The Ataris would direct so much hatred at him in a song... there are WAY more terrible artists.

Saw him in Dublin Last night,he was great.Fair play to him never heard of the band that wrote this they are jealous of his talent.Ben must come back here again.
i saw ben last night in Manchester and he played this song and it was so f**king top he is so good live the most entertaining gig ive been to in a long time thanks ben
This is surely the only way to respond. It would make me angry - especially due to the hurtful nature of the lyrics, but Lee seems to take it all in his stride. The irony of the song is that Ben has never been THAT successful - surely there are people more deserving of a swipe? Oh, and have you ever listened to The Ataris?!?!
they're fuckin pathetic. From whatever i can dig up there is no apparent reason why they did this song either. He hadn't publicly said or done anything to them as far as i've found, so of course the song is pretty unknown as well. Just stupid
they recorded a song on a previous album about Claire Daines, Ben Lee's girlfriend at the time, called My So Called Life (the show she starred in). it's just a continuing joke about Kris Roe's (ataris lead singer) crush on her
