  • Love this song. This arrangement is fantastic too..... JR is a genius

  • Oh God, I´ve found a treasure =D

  • touching my soul...

  • Even if this a Jordan's work, this song makes me feel how

i miss the "Hollow Years" of DT, Mike Portnoy was the blood of

the band, and someday i hope he can regret his decision of leaving,

and bring once more at least, my favorite band, back to life.

  • @WiseTube jordan didn't write this song.

  • @WiseTube he didn't leave intentionally it was the rest of the band who took it as a split, but i reckon that sometime in the next 2 years portnoy will try and re-kindle what he had with dream theater and my favourite band,my inspiration and the music that has forever changed my life will return.

  • @WiseTube he asked DT to let him back in already, they told him no! the way he left wasnt right. he told them he wanted a break from music then toured with another band (A7X). after the tour was over A7X didnt want him because he was alot more famous then them and didnt want to be mike portnoy and the A7X. the way i see it, theyre better off without him! some one like marco minneman (not joining DT) would be alot better musically. he was a founding father of DT but that doesnt mean they need him

  • Jordan looks like Joe Satriani at 3:16 haha

  • Haha, 2 ppl missed the like button and pressed dislike. xD

  • Man...that's sweet... brings a tear to my eye everytime :)

  • Walk me across the water...

  • 3:40 Paranormal hand! <.< Go Rudess, go! =)

  • OMFG 1:41 LOOK AT THE PICTURE

  • 3:29 MY GOD XDXDXDXDXDXDXD

  • The part at 1:52 sounds so familiar to me. I sounds like a song I've heard before. But not DT obviously. Does anybody have any idea what it could be?

  • @fuzzypear123 Yes! Fragile by STING

  • @recshirt I honestly don't hear the resemblance, but thanks anyways! Haha.

  • @fuzzypear123

reminds me of my heart will go on (titanic theme)

  • @buzzerede I think that's it! Thanks. :)

  • I swear,If Ruddes were to Die and they put a Slideshow of Him with this song,I think id cry

  • @josediaz969 You are not alone.

  • hey don't spam this but

don't you hate it ehen peope make fake accounts i got facebook today and joined his groups everything and what i sa was like 4 other pages i hate those kind of people

  • It is not Rudess's technical ability that makes him wonderful--though I do appreciate that; it's his creativity. That is what sets him apart from all of these concert pianists who's chops are on par, if not better than his. They play the music of others, and he creates his own, on a frequent basis too.

  • Its like Fairyland,Phillipe isnt like the Grayest nor fastest keyboardist on earth, but you just gotta love his creativity,Its like your in a movie battle or something.Just listen to the Opening Credits of Score to a New Beginning

  • This version is fuckin' awesome

    Pic 0:30

    Gods of the world.

  • He got into Julliard at age of 9 for classical music. Has anyone of your concert pianists accomplished that. And stating that your going to music school, your in a band, and you've played at multiple concerts really doesn't mean much, I'm sure every other person at your music school has done the same thing.

  • @joeyjaspers For the record, it wasn't the actual university. It was their program for young, talented students. I'm not trying to downplay the significance, just point out that he didn't get into the (arguably) most world famous university at 9...

  • =0

on time 1:44 Myung , portnoy and Petrucci Young

    OMG!!!!!!

    its rare this photo

  • it's not that rare but it's awesome

  • anyways..

    jordan rudess is really great..

    the whole band itself..

  • im sorry to say it, MyzTiC44, but if there's a God, his name is either John Petrucci or Jordan Rudess

  • @panamanian911, It can't be one or the other. Both of them are gods, there are just two of the many gods out there

  • @panamanian911 Or John Myung or Mike Portnoy....or simply Allah.

  • he started juliard at the age of nine i think he surpasses most concerto players.

  • @Chefnik06 he started juñiard at the age of nine??? are you fucking kidding me?

  • @megatallicadeth Yeah, true, one of the youngest pupils ever to attend. He was a classical pianist for a long time, but then while under study at Julliard, he got involved with keyboards and took the technological route, that's what separates him from most concert pianists, he isnt' a pianist, he's a keyboardist.

  • you said, i dont know anything about music, and so i tried to avoid that. ofc its nothing special, being in a band or something like that.

i officially give up this discussion once and for all.

("now best talented person alive", sure... )

i will not read one more answer to this. it makes me sick

  • and ofc, he is good, i like his compositions, but do you really think there is no strong overstatement by the fans ?

i dont wanna make him bad....

    i just wanna put the

    "god-best-piano-player-progressive-almigty-brilliant-as-ravel"-picture

    into

    "very-very-good-player-good-musical-educated-one-of-the-best-prog-key-players-and-also-good-compositions"-picture !!!

  • @MyzTiC44 Yuo can't really compare him to "top-concert-piano players" because it's a different genre entirely, it's like comparing B.B. king to Malmsteen. They both do their own thing, may be on the same instrument, but not the same thing.

  • @MyzTiC44

Funnily enough i also play piano and sax to a high standard. If you don't believe him to be as good as top concerto players then fair enough. I would just recommend listening to JR playing something like the revolutionary etude.

I can play most piano music with some ease and have played some Rudess but the guy is so at one with the music that he is the piano god as he can play anything he wants.

Also, composers of times gone by have aquired legendary status. Compare them to today.

  • petrucci è la madonna?!? lol!!!

  • i kinda wish they played this instead of wither at wembley :-(

fuck i wanted to see petruccis solo live so bad!!

  • cheer up...i like wither better...

  • please upload it again....

  • This version is almost bringing me to tears.

    Absolutely beautiful.

  • 3:38 wizard!

  • haha the picture at 3:30 is the best lol

  • I hope they put out some kind of sheet music for this... Not that anybody's gonna be able to play it :P

  • dude...hes finished his classical piano education...worked with many bands throughout his life...he has more experience than any other dt member....and a more diverse field than possibly any other musician...he is nothing less than god

  • Dude, just chill out and accept that people have their own opinions of musicians and that you can't force yours on them.

  • I don't think you understand the idea of progressive music it's not about following the "rules" of music and the classical note sequences the idea is to try new things thats why it doesn't always perfectly fit the standards of playing as piano-teacher or professor thinks is the right way.

  • It's not the fact that he can play it that gets him worship from the fans; its the fact that he can WRITE it.

  • Can those players play jazz or rock, or every style and have as much diversity like Jordan though?

  • Beautiful. LOL at early pic of mike and the johns

  • ....wow, I don't like the studio version original, but I saw it live in toronto and I was blown away.....this version is absolutely gorgeous

  • that one had everything! an intro guitar solo, extended verse ala FII demo version, budokan-esque middle guitar solo that was better than the one on DVD and a rudess jam at the end!

i wasn't TOO thrilled at first but dt sold me on it. it was awesome

oh and this version is pretty cool too.

  • if u were at budokan...you would have killed yourself..cuz there is nothing else to live for after that super performance...DT for FUCKIN LIFE !!!!!

  • They played Hollow Years in San Jose in August!!!!! SO AMAZING!!!!!!! Solo and all!!!

  • agreed. the intro and its flow into it, and the added verse,

it was one of my favourites of the night.

  • Loveley playing! jordan is the man!
