They burnt some shit to draw attention to much worse destruction on a massive scale. Don't get me wrong, they are a bit nuts, and its not ideal, but "terrorist" is a bit harsh - unless you are one of the coward authority worshiping type of American that thinks all actions are sound if they are backed by massive financial resources and bought governmental approval.
The cops hurt those people when they were hurting nobody. THEN they began to burn stuff.
