  • Exxon is cleaning up this environmental disaster. If they had "dumped" all this oiley crap up there, they would be doing the same thing... Right?. The only by-product is gasoline for your SUV's. Good trade?

  • Will these trucks buy diesel fuel in Montana? Will the crews buy food? Will they purchase permits in which the money goes to Montana? How will running tractors and trailers at night have an affect on general traffic? How will it affect the horsies or the trees which have been around for thousands of years? It's time to get honest

Those of you not in favor of taking us back to the 19th century, you are becoming a pawn of muti-million dollar environazi organizations who use you like mice.

  • @bluettr250 So we who live here should be willing to turn a pristine National Scenic Byway into a new High and Wide Panama Canal so that we can sell some diesel fuel and Egg McMuffins?? The Port of Lewiston has been marketing this corridor for quite a while, so that they can avoid layoffs. This will save FIVE jobs there!

  • @bluettr250 This is a Canadian project. There is already a route through Canada, from Vancouver. Canada, Korea, Holland, and the oil companies will all make billions from this. Will Montana or Idaho? No. We'll add a couple jobs, and receive a few bucks in damages. In return we'll see this beautiful mountain corridor ruined. NIMBY is justified here. This isn't Shithole, Oklahoma we're talking about!!

  • Does anyone REALLY believe, given Exxon's history, that they will pay for the damage that will surely occur, not to mention be irreversible? Have we forgotten about the Valdez disaster even in the wake of the current horrible situation in the Gulf? Do some research and you'll find that Exxon's attorneys spent 15 years fighting the judgement against them and then got off paying an amount less than the profit they make in one quarter! Money aside, this route should NEVER be allowed to happen!

  • I'm a native Idahoan. Damage over time'll cost more $ that oil co.s'll pay. Loads're 7-10 times to heavy. Oil won't pay to reengineer roads. Cumulative neg. impacts aren't addressed, economic, environment, safety, engineering. Oil co.s'll spend less $ during transport than $ that'll be lost by those not spending; tourists, recreation & current trucking industry=NET LOSS. Mega-loads'll hurt truckers who can't move @ night, uping delivery time/$ forcing them on other longer routs for deadlines.

  • As a native Idahoan, i can see that this is another case of NIMBY. It's okay if it hurts and inconveniences more people over a longer route and period of time. I don't see how these shipments will hurt jobs. They will be spending money, and using services during these moves. As an additional plus for jobs in these two states, as they are paying the government tax money for any damages which will create jobs fixing the roads. These roads need a repave, and the loads could pay for it.

  • thanks for putting this together- excellent job- we have to stop them.

  • Friends of the Clearwater is going to participate in a public rally this Saturday at 10:00am on the Memorial Bridge in Lewiston. Memorial Bridge crosses over the Clearwater River, parallels Highway 12 and takes you into or out of Lewiston. We will be congregating on the western sidewalk of the bridge, not in the road. The rally is open to the public and we We need to show a strong united front and send a message that we oppose these disastrous mega-loads

  • Think of all the Albertans that will benefit from this project. Then think of all the Albertans who support the tourism industry in Montant and Idaho.

  • @gbroks LOL how much did Exxon pay you to write that? So is that like a threat, that Albertans are going to boycott MT and ID, if this plan is not approved?

  • Where are all the USA Cyclists out there. This is BS if this happens

  • As an Idaho native this really gripes my a**. Another example of greedy corporate control willing to infringe upon the lives of those of us whose only desire is to keep and maintain what small measure of pristine environment industry has not already destroyed. Exxon can just foot the additional expense and use an alternate route through the country this will benefit most - Canada.

  • Great job Holly! We have to stop this.
