If you don't ride English you shouldn't be putting it down and saying nasty stuff about it. Because you don't know about it. Just because some people put a bad rep on it doesn't mean every English rider does that.
@kljl2 Well good, they are simply a tool to control the horse,But they trap the head.So the riders hands only can pull their head so high, then the tyedown stops her.So the horses head is pulled up and down at the same time. Then he learns to brace against it and stiffen up.Martingales are another way to force a horses head down but they put the head in more of a fixed position
yay i get to take english ridin lessons after chritmas i am se happy it may not be very southern but ill still ride a horse wether its bare back or just english
you do not have more balance do you want to know the real reason for the hor and why the western saddle has a horn it is so when the people are roping cattle they had something to keep their rope on so ont try and say we dont have balance
you do not have more balance do you want to know the real reason for the hor and why the western saddle has a horn it is so when the people are roping cattle they had something to keep their rope on so ont try and say we dont have balance
English riders don't fit in this vid because theyre not cowgirls.I understand its not the saddle u ride in.But English riders are just abusers they ride with somtime more than 1 bit in the horses mouth.Western horses ride alot without a bit. My one eyed barrel horse runs and rides without a bit.and english riders can definently not maintain their seat I can ride my both my one eyed horse and another without saddle or bridle.iv never seen an english horse so smart.because their always bein yanked
@quarterhorselover100 they may not gallop around barrels or stuff lik that but that doesnt mean they aren't cowgirls they meet the my requarments 1.have a horse 2.have guts and heart. 3. this is more just me... Are you saying english horses can't run barrels? or are you just callin them dumb? cuz i can tell you right now my ex english horse is amazeing and he can hall ass comein home. he knows how to fix any bad day with one quick movent. he knows were i put his treats no mader were i put them.
@quarterhorselover100 what? ok so if you dont run home then what exatly do you do? if you are saying that you dont run home than you might want to infom the pro barrel racers that they arent doing it right...
@1233Maya You dont hall ass home thats what im saying you dont go faster around the third barrel because the horse gets too anxious to get around the barrel which causes him to knock over the barrel you keep the run evened out going the same speed all throught the pattern
@quarterhorselover100 my horse wants to run after the last barrel but hes no antious at all he trys to walk around it then gallop home. and im pretty sure any good barrel horse is antious to go in to the pattern and they dont always knock over the first barrel
@1233Maya walk him through the whole pattern when you lope him keep him the same speed the whole time same as every other pace cuz my sister just tought me that and my mare is trying to go to fast after the last barrel and shes touching it some
@1233Maya Dont do barrels every day because that can sour the horse and he wont like the barrels, and instead of taking him straight to the arena, go to the pastures and trot and lope him in a square like shape both ways then lope him in circles this helps his muscles on both sides stay even so he can change leads easily
@quarterhorselover100 i cant ride him in the pastuers he would get attacked unless it was his but he is in with a 2 year old and she would be biteing and kickin at him i took him in there and plus he is a 16 year old trail horse. Barrel raceing is my dream not his, but i dont have the cash for 2 horses and i promised him from the day i got him i would never leave him like his old owners did.... he does it so he can run home thats his part im not goin to take that away from him.
@quarterhorselover100 oh no the barn has about 12 pastures but he cant be in with any of the horses exept his and eather way if i rode at even a trot in the pastures the horses would be galloping around and kickin and makein him eather take off or get mad and freak out. He is good at poles so we focus on that and i want to be a pro barrel racer witch he is kinda prepareing me for. And in ur first coment if ur callin english horses dumb im just sayin my horse aint dumb, (well most of the time)
@1233Maya Im not callin english horses dumb but english riders can be abusive to them some jerk their head high and on your page it sais that he used to be an english horse and was abused it makes me wonder just how abusive they are anyways if you dont have the Charmayne James book, ODER IT its helped me alot.My sister lives in Alaska and i havent seen her in a year but on the vids i have she says ive improved ALOT
@quarterhorselover100 oh you thought- no no no, he was an amazing english show horse then he was sold and they starved him and my have hit him because he acts all spazy around crops and whips. he also hates when people try to croud and saddle him, the people thought they would "help" me cuz he was movin cuz he does that when hes nerevs, like 5 people crouded around him and force saddled him they thought that becasue he is broke you can do anything to him, he almost reared and was messed up
@thewildmustang91 Well im just saying. I don't. I give my horses calve pressure, then heel, then if it still doesn't move away I'll gently roll my spur up his side. I've been able to realize that bits are a way of cummunication with the horse. So I don't jerk him. Odviously youve never seen a good western rider. English riders make their horses carry their heads too high, but western pleasure riders atually force the horse's head down low.
@quarterhorselover100 I've ridden western and most of my friends have to, and not all english riders do that therefore I think that both of us are wrong
@quarterhorselover100 English riders fit this video just fine its more about the attitude to get on and ride a 1000 pond animal with a mid of its own. yes dressage riders ride woth more than 1 bit bbut that fine because its more for show and it takes alot of training before they will ride with it. AND DONT THINK WE YANK OUR HORSES! we dont we turn them with our outside aids. ie outside rein and out side leg. and dont act like you know every thing cuz you read some book.
@quarterhorselover100 Also I ride bare back all the time with my friends. You think we have no balance!? can you jump 2'9 with no saddle?! I dont think so. I think we can maintain a seat better than you anyday. We have a western rider at our barn and we managed to convert her in to one of the best dressage riders at our barn and a damn good jumper too. when she moved to our barn she brought her western stuff with her and my jumper also makes a good barrel racer because we have tried it all.
@BekkysEddie Yes I have jumped a jump 3'9 on my gelding bareback. And I ride bareback all the time so I have good balance, and I don't hold onto the reins for my balance either. You should really stop making up things about people.
@quarterhorselover100 And you should stop making things up about Martingales. EVERY THING YOU HAVE SAID ABOUT THEM IS A PACK OF LIES! you dont know shit all! They are a training tool i have seen many a western rider use them too, and actuall i have seen more harm to the horses through western than english.I know little 7 year olds know more than you do. You think you know everything. dont you? Besides who uses reins as ballance thats just silly.
@BekkysEddie I said I like martingales.Read the comment. And yes I'm smarter than a 7 year old.No I don't know everything..Like I said, you should stop making up things about people. And a lot of people use the reins for their balance and don't realize it.Yes the martingale forces his head into position but they are in a fixed position and are ok for training. That isn't a lie you can read facts about them.
i love both western and english we r both cowgirls who fall get down and dirty and risk our lifes every day. English jumps poles and western gose around barrels and poles but we r all cowgirls who have on thing in common we all love horses. if u agree put ur thumes up
riders of all kinds are cowgirls just cause some of u go to rodeos or shows doesnt make you different your horse i what made you a cow girl not your discipline
@tristansmom982000 So because i ride in a english saddle, i cant consider myself a cowgirl? Even though i am riding a horse and getting dirty and taking care of my horse? That makes sense
@trayflipful ACTUALLY... yes i can!!!!! if you really belive the type of saddle you ride in determines if your a "cowgirl" or not... then wow i feel smart. So what your saying is that... i am only a cowgirl when i galloping my horse full speed in a western saddle... (which i do) is that what your saying??
English or western it doesnt matter! If you have the guts to ride a 1000 lb animal thats tough! In western you gotta trust your horse and it has to trust you to turn on a dime at full speed, and in english your horse has to trust you and you have to trust it to make all the right moves and clear a fence! Cowgirls all the way<3
This is a really good video that you've made. I barrel race and train horses, I trained my current barrel horse when I was 8 she fell on my 3 years ago and broke my leg in three places and never cried, didn't even know it was broke til' the next day.. I got back on her though, been ridin' her almost everyday since the doctor said I was allowed to ride. I've tooken many falls, and bein' ran over by horses & I still get right back on them. So Cowgirl's don't cry is true (:
@barrelgirl1496 ... it isnt the clothes .. that makes a cowgirl.. it is the attitude and heart.....a cowgirl is a woman with ..guts.. determination... and a horse
92% of teenagers have turned to Hip Hop and Pop.If you are part of the 8% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this message to another 5 videos. DON'T LET COUNRTY DIE!!!!
riding horses is dangerous and many people think its easy. i saddlebreak horses the old western way; put the saddle on and go. but people dont relize how much work and how dangerous it cxan be at times.
@farmer4life2live I know, and wow r u seriouse, and ima country girl who has 2 quarter horses, who fell of like 20 times, it hurts, but i got used to it! and it is really hard work
riding these horses are so hard but people think it is so easy i do barrel racing and people think they can do it but they dont know how much work it is
this is all true we go through so much for our horses and just keep going no matter what! like fliped over my horse after he fell and i buckle broke my shoulder and my trainer was flipped in the cart and broke her coller bone and shattered a bone in her neck and shes still goin ;) cowgirls are the toughest :)
The debate between English and Western riding has been going on for ages, and it's ridiculous. Here's the bottom line: Both forms of riding were developed for COMPLETELY different reasons. A cowboy needed a reliable horse that could hold a steer, ride fences, haul his butt around, etc. English disciplines served military purposes as well as practical purposes on a farm, the same as we did and still do in the U.S.
So quit the mudslinging, guys. You're making us horse people look bad.
I was riding my horse bareback and he was going pretty fast and he saw a big green patch of grass and he stopped really fast I fell right smack off the front of him. There was a stump right beside me where i fell so I felt pretty lucky I didn't fall on it. I actually found it kid of fun so after that I did it on purpose!!!
omg i miss my horses so much. i had to give up riding after and accident with the horse and i still jumped back on he bucked me and i broke my color bone in 3 places and broke my arm in 7 places after tht he bucked e 2 more times and he had to go. just goes to show tht a cowgirl will do anything for a horse she loves. :)
@Barrelracer4life8 I'm a barrel racer and yes it's Fun but i can ride English to English u have to have skill and balance riding Eniglish or western doesn't mean u r not a cowgirl if u boned with ur horse well love riding your horse and love to spend every moment u can with ur horse then that's a true cowgirl just because u r not a barrel racer doesn't make it any different! Yes it's fun to be a barrel racer but it can be fun riding english to im not a big fan but most people love it!
barrelracer4life8 i ride englih and only english but it doesn't mean i can't sit on a new saddle the saddle makes no diffence it's what you do with th horse and more than that what caseyhorse said thumbs up if you agree
I ride, teach people, and train horses in Dressage, and ride Western just because that's my roots, and all I can say is that a horse is not something one should take for granted. My big gelding, bless his soul, is the most steady horse I've ever had, and he's western through and through. But, Dressage, English, whatever you wish to call it, is no less of being a cowgirl, simply with out the cows.
wow..just got through reading all of the commentary about western vs. english. There must be a lot of children commenting on this! true horse people realize that no matter what the discipline, we've all got the same goal...love the horse and do what is best for it. Accidents are going to happen when a horse is under western tack, and they're gonna happen when a horse is under English tack. Its part of the price we ALL, as horselovers, pay for trying to tame, train, and ride these amazing animals
great song, but not liken alot of these comments. i take english lessons and love all the horses i ride. i even choose to ride in a westren saddle for one of them(crazy lil pony XD ). all of the riders i know, both english and westren love and care for their horses.
and both westren and english have their risks. yes, i love to jump, but i also love to got fast. i like and ride both english and westren. i don't understand all these negative comments for both :P theres no need for it
A girl in PA commited suicide and at her funeral, when they brought her in this was playing. So it really strikes a cord with me :/ btw her name was Tiffani Maxwell look her up on facebook, that girl was gorgeous. There is also an anti bullying group you can join on behalf of her.
if u have the guts to ride a 1200 pound animal then fall off and get back on anyway..i say thats pretty cowgirl enough for me..whether its with an english or western saddle..your still riding the same thing that made you want to start in the first place...your horse.
@onyxofshammar i ride my horse bareback HE KNOCKED ME OFF AND STEPPED ON ME I GOT RIGHT BACK UP AND GOT ON HIM I HD HIS HOOF PRINT ON ME FOR LIKE A MONTH LOL I SHOWED TO BOYS UP BYE NOW I HOPE U READ THIS
@onyxofshammar totally. i ride english and you wouldnt believe how many people think i dont work as hard as western or dressage. we need to support eachother.
everytime i climb upon my horse, I risk my lfie by not knowing if my horse is going to act up or anything. But i have trust n my horse and hope to god that i don't fall off.
it dont matter if you ride english or western, its touch as fuck. every time you get in that saddle you risk your life but ya'll still do it. you put your life in a 1500 pound animals hands. people don't understand the bond between horse and rider, they dont understand how tough it is and we still get through it, no matter what
when you get on that saddle you have no clue what is going to happen..When you get on that horse you are trusting it with your life..English don't know shit
Western Saddles do everything for you. They put your leg in the right position, balance you up, and give you support. It puts weight on unnatural sections of the back, sometimes it even presses on the kidneys and causes discomfort.
ENGLISH saddles are just a scrap of leather between you and the horse. We have to do EVERYTHING. So, It sounds to me like ENGLISH RIDERS ARE THE "REAL" RIDERS SO BACK OFF.
'n why don't you stop bitchin' on everyone and start bein kind to us all? really no diciplene is "right", it's about lovin ur horse and havin fun. 'aint that why we all ride in the first place? Look. I'm sick of the arguing. We're all country girls who share a love for horses. We all fall. We all make mistakes. The tough ones get up and keep going while them arrogant ones terrorize other riders of opposite diciplines. Am I right? Let's just get along, huh?
Okay good.(: And I really like western too, I'd prefer western for trail rides any day, cuz the saddle is like a comfy cloud for a 2+ hour trail ride, and usually my butt srts hurting in an Engligh saddle in the first hour. XP but Engligh is my competitive life/choice. So are we good? :)
@HunterJumper175 Do you even know the reason western saddles are the way they are? Cowboys used a western saddle for work. They didn't need to be BS in an english saddle. They HAD to work. You can't cut a calf or rope a steer in an english saddle. English riding was for sport.
@HunterJumper175 So, how can you say "ENGLISH RIDERS ARE THE "REAL" RIDERS"? You couldn't do the things western riders do in an english saddle. It's just not possible. You would be dragged on the ground if you tried to hold a steer with your hands. If you tried to barrel race, you would hinder the horse because you wouldn't be able to position yourself and cue at the same time. Cutting in an english saddle? i don't think so.
@turnandburn4life You couldn't do the things English riders do in a Western saddle either. It's just not possible. You would fly off in an instant if you tried cross country. If you tried to jump, you would hinder the horse because the western saddle puts a lot of weight on the wrong parts of the horse's back. Dressage in a western saddle? i don't think so.
And you know Jessica Forsyth freakin DIED for English riding so QUIT DISSIN ENGLISH BITCH
@HunterJumper175 They do have cross country in a western version. It's called the cowboy race. Reining is the western equivalent to to dressage. No one said anything bad about english riding. I ride english for goodness sakes. I don't think anyone has ever died for the sake of riding english. Do you really think she wanted to die? no. Plenty of people have been killed western and english, so don't even go there. I'm not wasting my time arguing on YouTube with someone ignorant so BYE.
@HunterJumper175 sorry to say but Wetern riding is so much better. English riding is sport as you guys said but I look at it as play. Cause it is. English is not what America's tradition is. sorry...but just had to point it out :)
All cowboys and cowgirls should stick together, dont get on here and talk shit just to talk down to others, just prove to yourself that your are who you say you are! Thats the cowboy way! Besides were a dying breed!!!!
Wow people need to calm down. it's a good song. there is good people and bad people in all displines. people choose different disiplines, calm down. Stop the immature name calling, like reallly this is like reading a conversation between five year olds. lol seriously. If you don't like a disipline, don't watch video's like this, or don't make comments without knowing facts
ok i run barrles an team rope an break away an i do all events nowing how to ride an take care of ur horse an listining to them an knowing there needs is basicly a cowgirl i dnt belive in riden a half a saddle
I think everybody should stop arguing, if you really care about your animal then you wont abuse it full stop....it doesnt matter what discipline you do. There is occasions that you could get into a scrape especially when doing faster work, like i say if you care about your animal, you will do the best by it, its got nothing to do with western or english riding.
ok lets get real people it is not the disipline it's the riders. I work at one of the biggest equine hospitals in the country and all disaplines of every type have people who suck. So just shut up and join the real world. People suck some times. It just sucks for the inisent horses.
Also, ajlover, the fall at 1:05 showed how cruel some western riders can be. the horse stumbled, but the "cowgirl" kicked him on. I would've jumped off and examined his body before I went on. That goes to s how that she vared more about money than her horse. So please don't say western is perfect because everypne knows IT'S NOT. and I'm not saying englsih can't be cruel sometimes, but five times as many abuse cases are with western riders. So it's more cruel than English.
Another cowboy came with a towel. He put the towel around her muzzle and pressed. Slowly, she started shaking and kicking. She got stiller and stiller, then her eyes glazed over. they took the towel off, and She took a massive breathe in, but it never came back out. They had suffocated her.
they put a tarp over her and walked off like nothing happened, leaving her there. That was a WESTERN facilty. That's when I switched to English. SO WESTERN CAN BE EVEN MORE CRUEL THAN ENGLISH SO SHUT UP!!!!!
Oh I know it's not really true, I used to be a Western Rider. (: I was just trying to make ajlover16 mad to show her how much of a b*tch she was being to us English riders. ;)
Thess falls looked awful but if you're a real horse rider, you stand right back up, wipe off the dirt and get back on and keep riding! I have had some terrible falls that once have left me in the hospital for a few days, but right after I healed up I went riding again! I didn't let the falls stop my passion for horses, I let the falls teach me and make me stronger. It does not matter what saddle you ride, who your horse is, etc. only that you love to ride and wil never stop!
@ajlover16 Im an English rider, but I ride western too. I love my horse- yeah I have bad days when she bucks and puts in the odd rear trying to throw me off, most of the time I stay on but when I fall I get right back up there. I dont punish my horse I try again and again until we get it right. Ive been riding since I was 7 and have been around 17 hh thoroughbreds all my life. Yeah English riding is very different to western and we do different disciplines but WE CAN RIDE. And we LOVE OUR HORSES
umm excuse me i am an english rider and i care about my horse !! not gonna lie lot's of english people dont care about there horses and i am sorry to say that but no affence to western riders either they dont always care about there horses either it is sad to know people just own horses to rip around on but dont say only english riders dont care about there horses !
Excuse me? Wanna say that agian? I'm an English rider, and I freakin LOVE my horse more than anything in the world. Not EVERY SINGLE english rider in the entire world is snobby, okay? That's a stereo type. How about this?
Western Riders are the heartless ones. They're the ones that shock horses, beat them bloody, and smack them in the face to get them to buck in rodeos! they don't give a sh*t about their horses! They want money! Every western Rider is a jerk!
@HunterJumper175 well said..Im a dressage rider,,,was a jumper...Im far from snobby..I barrel raced and hated western riding in an umcomfortable box of a saddle...loved the english feeling like im one with my horse and bareback..my horses are my life...no body is more important then them :)
@ajlover16 you are clueless.. Im an English rider...Im NOT a snob...and my horses are my life and my everything...you must be a little kid who doesnt know the world for that comment. The western people can be just as heartless. I witnessed the worse abuse by a western rider that ended in the death of their horse before it could be stopped...we were kids trying to stop it...the horse ended up dragged in the back be ran behind a truck...so think before u talk
I witnessed the death of an Arabian mare. She went down due to colic, and I heard someone shout, "horse down" so 4 cowboys came over to her. The first pulled on her halter, then tried kickeing her. They found amusement by putting spurs on and jamming her in the belly. They laughed everytime she flinched. Then, thy poured a bucket of water on her face. They kicked and laughed, and slapped her.
awesome video! Some of them falls look pretty painful though D: I was reading the older comment about which is better English or Western? Well both are equally challenging , both require skill and balance, I may have never tried western but it looks so much fun! I live in England so I've been brought out riding English, and I must say, it is challenging, hard work and gives a load of opportunities, but what the Western riders do is amazing! The speed and skill involved is just amazing!
Haha My little sister was riding her pony and it bolted a little bit and my sister got scared started crying and I was like "You said cowgirls dont cry?" and she's like "Oh yeah"
OK can we END this fude of freackin wich side is better/weacker?!!! im w/LucyIsMyLife im a bginner of reining but im uploading a vid of jumping, y? well... it looks like ur soarin thru the sky&it looks like ur free but yes i aint a stupid jackass western lovein hillbilly&yes i kno its HARD reining u HAVE 2drive w/1hand&dotrickytricks&HARDjumpingHARDcrosscountryHARDdressageHARDbarrel raceingHARDreiningHARDcuttingHARDraceingHARDsteeplechase
EVERYTHING IS HARD!!! NOW STFUP!!! lets end the fude
ugh i hate people who jump with their horses just look at the pictures most of them are jumping acidents horses arn't made to jump 6 feet high over huge walls
@Rebelsiouse i agree to an extent. i dont think horses should be jumping those crazy hwights, but i enjoy jumping with my horse as well, at reasonable heights. :)
@Rebelsiouse Haha it are much more injuries with western! Western people think it's "funny" when the horse bolts out, bucks, and it's seems like you also enjoy riding with terrible spurs, whipping the horse on the back with the reins and having extremly sharp bits. In english competitions you can get eliminated if you treat the horse bad!
@sigridandbilly i don't use spurs thank you , i have seen my share of english riders whith way biger leather wips hitting the horse over and over for no reson , sharp bit please explain this to me i have never seen a bit that is sharp and how can a bit be sharp? we don't think its funny its called breaking a horse which every horse thatis rideable has gone through
@sigridandbilly i have been around horse since i was born wich is 23 years , and i think you mean harsh not sharp and please tell me what bit isn't a bar of metel isn't like clouds
to commentor: BRASSY, hey haven't ya heard? ALL they do is JUMP! No trails, no nice enjoyment of treats. They treat their horses like EGO MACHINES. I've seen this each/every time!
A horse needs to turn his head to see the jump. It's also bad for them to have all that trauma on their bodys. Granted, us cowgirls jump our horses, but it's done out of necessity. IN case we find ourselfs in a situation., our horse will jump for us.
@Barrelracer4life8 Are you on fucking crack ? You can have a fast horse and western saddle, that doesnt mean you're a cowgirl either, being a cowgirl, is listening to your horse, knowing when you're horse is in need of something, letting your horse shine every chance you get. i ride both western and english, and it takes alot of talent and courage to jump hights you never dreamed of run faster , than wind. most of all, knowing you could die everytime you sit in your saddle, but you still do it.
@CaseyHorses i agree with u just cause you have a horse and a fancy sadle and u know how 2 ride doesnt mean u r a cowgirl u have 2 listen 2 the horse... and trust me it hurts when u fall off but if ur a real cowgirl u rnt afrade of the horse...so if any1 dissagrees and says they r a cowgirl/cowboy and then they fall off and dnt want 2 ride again they should know they r imposters
@hlorimor2 Oh i know! i was at a show once and this little chubby 9 year olds horse spooked alittle and didnt even fully buck, more like ass raise she lost her balance and fell, and 2 mins after she said that she didnt want to ride anymore and shes selling that horse its a bad horse, and the horse was georg. ! i was shocked she'd even say that! but theres this little girl at my barn i ride at, she was at another show she fell off three times in one class, she got right back on but after the..
@hlorimor2 third time she was pretty sore and it was so cute she fell flat on her back, and the horse just stood over her, and she looked at him and said " ooh dusty.." and shakes her head :P gets back on and finishes her ride :P
@CaseyHorses completly true. I ride both saddles but don't ride in rodeos cause i am a ton better at English and take English riding lessons. But yeah, being a cowgirl means you listen to your horse, fly higher than you ever dreamed, outran the wind, know what your horse needs, getting back up when you fall off, and most importantly, you a cowgirl if you love your horse more than anything in the world
@CaseyHorses I like what you you say. I'm not a rodeo guy. I spent most of my "horse years" working with a outfitter in Alaska. We spent time with our horses. Lots of time. Best horses I ever rode. Broke my neck falling off a horse! My bad. Thanks to the Good Lord above, I still ride!
I guess so! lolz and I bet you also agree that no dicipline is right? they're both about loving horses and bein who you are? :) that's how everyone should feel and we should all stop all this fightin.
@HunterJumper175 OMG yes 100% i ride both western and english ! so i dont see why everyone feels the need to fight, the funny part to me is that alot of people ignore the saddleseat&sidesaddle people, i guess cause they're not as big in the horse world. we need to stop looking at our differences, and start reilizing that we all have one simple thing in common, -somewhere along the way we all fell in love with that one horse <3
If you ride western your not a Cowgirl. Your a western rider. The word COWgirl means just that. An affiliation with cattle, sorry spinning around a few barrels doesn't make you a cowgirl either.
@queenluciaa hey i own 1000 head of cows AND i barrel race so that doesn't make me a cowgirl? i think you should grow some balls and learn that prancing around an arena doesn't make you a good rider :)
I'm completely fine being a woman, and rather not be a transsexual thankyou. Prancing around in a ring? You may need to have a little lesson on Dressage. Its like trying to teach a high-strung 1200 lb. toddler to dance. Your a Cowgirl because you own cattle, but if you didn't you wouldn't be. As simple as that. Or do you want me to dumb it down a bit for you?
Also, your idea of english is absolutely biased. I take my horse on trail rides, gallops, runs as much as the next guy. As a matter of fact, I regularly gallop bareback. I'm sure you can't do that, because theres no training w
If you don't ride English you shouldn't be putting it down and saying nasty stuff about it. Because you don't know about it. Just because some people put a bad rep on it doesn't mean every English rider does that.

you do not have more balance do you want to know the real reason for the hor and why the western saddle has a horn it is so when the people are roping cattle they had something to keep their rope on so ont try and say we dont have balance

ProudAmericanMama 3 months ago
English riders don't fit in this vid because theyre not cowgirls.I understand its not the saddle u ride in.But English riders are just abusers they ride with somtime more than 1 bit in the horses mouth.Western horses ride alot without a bit. My one eyed barrel horse runs and rides without a bit.and english riders can definently not maintain their seat I can ride my both my one eyed horse and another without saddle or bridle.iv never seen an english horse so smart.because their always bein yanked
quarterhorselover100 3 months ago in playlist Horses
@quarterhorselover100 they may not gallop around barrels or stuff lik that but that doesnt mean they aren't cowgirls they meet the my requarments 1.have a horse 2.have guts and heart. 3. this is more just me... Are you saying english horses can't run barrels? or are you just callin them dumb? cuz i can tell you right now my ex english horse is amazeing and he can hall ass comein home. he knows how to fix any bad day with one quick movent. he knows were i put his treats no mader were i put them.
1233Maya 2 months ago
@1233Maya Umm you dont hall ass when you come around the third barrel because the horse becomes to anxious to get around the third barrel dur dur!!!
quarterhorselover100 2 months ago
@quarterhorselover100 what? ok so if you dont run home then what exatly do you do? if you are saying that you dont run home than you might want to infom the pro barrel racers that they arent doing it right...
1233Maya 2 months ago
@1233Maya You dont hall ass home thats what im saying you dont go faster around the third barrel because the horse gets too anxious to get around the barrel which causes him to knock over the barrel you keep the run evened out going the same speed all throught the pattern
quarterhorselover100 2 months ago
@quarterhorselover100 my horse wants to run after the last barrel but hes no antious at all he trys to walk around it then gallop home. and im pretty sure any good barrel horse is antious to go in to the pattern and they dont always knock over the first barrel
1233Maya 2 months ago
@1233Maya walk him through the whole pattern when you lope him keep him the same speed the whole time same as every other pace cuz my sister just tought me that and my mare is trying to go to fast after the last barrel and shes touching it some
quarterhorselover100 2 months ago
@quarterhorselover100 that is how we warm up.. after we walk trot canter and all like around the ring
1233Maya 2 months ago
@1233Maya Dont do barrels every day because that can sour the horse and he wont like the barrels, and instead of taking him straight to the arena, go to the pastures and trot and lope him in a square like shape both ways then lope him in circles this helps his muscles on both sides stay even so he can change leads easily
quarterhorselover100 2 months ago
@quarterhorselover100 i cant ride him in the pastuers he would get attacked unless it was his but he is in with a 2 year old and she would be biteing and kickin at him i took him in there and plus he is a 16 year old trail horse. Barrel raceing is my dream not his, but i dont have the cash for 2 horses and i promised him from the day i got him i would never leave him like his old owners did.... he does it so he can run home thats his part im not goin to take that away from him.
1233Maya 2 months ago
@1233Maya Ohh so thats the only pasture you have? I was just giving you some tips to train him sorry.
quarterhorselover100 2 months ago
@quarterhorselover100 oh no the barn has about 12 pastures but he cant be in with any of the horses exept his and eather way if i rode at even a trot in the pastures the horses would be galloping around and kickin and makein him eather take off or get mad and freak out. He is good at poles so we focus on that and i want to be a pro barrel racer witch he is kinda prepareing me for. And in ur first coment if ur callin english horses dumb im just sayin my horse aint dumb, (well most of the time)
1233Maya 2 months ago
@1233Maya Im not callin english horses dumb but english riders can be abusive to them some jerk their head high and on your page it sais that he used to be an english horse and was abused it makes me wonder just how abusive they are anyways if you dont have the Charmayne James book, ODER IT its helped me alot.My sister lives in Alaska and i havent seen her in a year but on the vids i have she says ive improved ALOT
quarterhorselover100 2 months ago
@quarterhorselover100 oh you thought- no no no, he was an amazing english show horse then he was sold and they starved him and my have hit him because he acts all spazy around crops and whips. he also hates when people try to croud and saddle him, the people thought they would "help" me cuz he was movin cuz he does that when hes nerevs, like 5 people crouded around him and force saddled him they thought that becasue he is broke you can do anything to him, he almost reared and was messed up

@quarterhorselover100 And western riders don't?They jerk there horses face and spur them.
thewildmustang91 1 month ago
@thewildmustang91 Well im just saying. I don't. I give my horses calve pressure, then heel, then if it still doesn't move away I'll gently roll my spur up his side. I've been able to realize that bits are a way of cummunication with the horse. So I don't jerk him. Odviously youve never seen a good western rider. English riders make their horses carry their heads too high, but western pleasure riders atually force the horse's head down low.

@quarterhorselover100 I've ridden western and most of my friends have to, and not all english riders do that therefore I think that both of us are wrong
thewildmustang91 1 month ago
@quarterhorselover100 English riders fit this video just fine its more about the attitude to get on and ride a 1000 pond animal with a mid of its own. yes dressage riders ride woth more than 1 bit bbut that fine because its more for show and it takes alot of training before they will ride with it. AND DONT THINK WE YANK OUR HORSES! we dont we turn them with our outside aids. ie outside rein and out side leg. and dont act like you know every thing cuz you read some book.
BekkysEddie 4 days ago
@quarterhorselover100 Also I ride bare back all the time with my friends. You think we have no balance!? can you jump 2'9 with no saddle?! I dont think so. I think we can maintain a seat better than you anyday. We have a western rider at our barn and we managed to convert her in to one of the best dressage riders at our barn and a damn good jumper too. when she moved to our barn she brought her western stuff with her and my jumper also makes a good barrel racer because we have tried it all.
BekkysEddie 4 days ago
@BekkysEddie Yes I have jumped a jump 3'9 on my gelding bareback. And I ride bareback all the time so I have good balance, and I don't hold onto the reins for my balance either. You should really stop making up things about people.
quarterhorselover100 4 days ago
@quarterhorselover100 And you should stop making things up about Martingales. EVERY THING YOU HAVE SAID ABOUT THEM IS A PACK OF LIES! you dont know shit all! They are a training tool i have seen many a western rider use them too, and actuall i have seen more harm to the horses through western than english.I know little 7 year olds know more than you do. You think you know everything. dont you? Besides who uses reins as ballance thats just silly.
BekkysEddie 3 days ago in playlist Vidieos to comment on with computer
@BekkysEddie I said I like martingales.Read the comment. And yes I'm smarter than a 7 year old.No I don't know everything..Like I said, you should stop making up things about people. And a lot of people use the reins for their balance and don't realize it.Yes the martingale forces his head into position but they are in a fixed position and are ok for training. That isn't a lie you can read facts about them.

English or western it doesnt matter! If you have the guts to ride a 1000 lb animal thats tough! In western you gotta trust your horse and it has to trust you to turn on a dime at full speed, and in english your horse has to trust you and you have to trust it to make all the right moves and clear a fence!

@HunterJumper175 Do you even know the reason western saddles are the way they are? Cowboys used a western saddle for work. They didn't need to be BS in an english saddle. They HAD to work. You can't cut a calf or rope a steer in an english saddle. English riding was for sport.
turnandburn4life 7 months ago
@turnandburn4life
Exactly. English was for sport. Western was for work.
HunterJumper175 7 months ago
@HunterJumper175 So, how can you say "ENGLISH RIDERS ARE THE "REAL" RIDERS"? You couldn't do the things western riders do in an english saddle. It's just not possible. You would be dragged on the ground if you tried to hold a steer with your hands. If you tried to barrel race, you would hinder the horse because you wouldn't be able to position yourself and cue at the same time. Cutting in an english saddle? i don't think so.
turnandburn4life 7 months ago
@turnandburn4life You couldn't do the things English riders do in a Western saddle either. It's just not possible. You would fly off in an instant if you tried cross country. If you tried to jump, you would hinder the horse because the western saddle puts a lot of weight on the wrong parts of the horse's back. Dressage in a western saddle? i don't think so.
And you know Jessica Forsyth freakin DIED for English riding so QUIT DISSIN ENGLISH BITCH
HunterJumper175 7 months ago
@HunterJumper175 They do have cross country in a western version. It's called the cowboy race. Reining is the western equivalent to to dressage. No one said anything bad about english riding. I ride english for goodness sakes. I don't think anyone has ever died for the sake of riding english. Do you really think she wanted to die? no. Plenty of people have been killed western and english, so don't even go there. I'm not wasting my time arguing on YouTube with someone ignorant so BYE.
turnandburn4life 7 months ago
@HunterJumper175 sorry to say but Wetern riding is so much better. English riding is sport as you guys said but I look at it as play. Cause it is. English is not what America's tradition is. sorry...but just had to point it out :)

AmandaMc14 11 months ago
ok lets get real people it is not the disipline it's the riders.

HunterJumper175 11 months ago
Another cowboy came with a towel. He put the towel around her muzzle and pressed. Slowly, she started shaking and kicking. She got stiller and stiller, then her eyes glazed over. they took the towel off, and She took a massive breathe in, but it never came back out. They had suffocated her.
they put a tarp over her and walked off like nothing happened, leaving her there. That was a WESTERN facilty. That's when I switched to English. SO WESTERN CAN BE EVEN MORE CRUEL THAN ENGLISH SO SHUT UP!!!!!

BreyerLoverHorsie78 1 year ago

@ajlover16 Im an English rider, but I ride western too. I love my horse- yeah I have bad days when she bucks and puts in the odd rear trying to throw me off, most of the time I stay on but when I fall I get right back up there. I dont punish my horse I try again and again until we get it right. Ive been riding since I was 7 and have been around 17 hh thoroughbreds all my life. Yeah English riding is very different to western and we do different disciplines but WE CAN RIDE. And we LOVE OUR HORSES

@ajlover16
How does it feel?
HunterJumper175 11 months ago
@HunterJumper175 well said..Im a dressage rider,,,was a jumper...Im far from snobby..I barrel raced and hated western riding in an umcomfortable box of a saddle...loved the english feeling like im one with my horse and bareback..my horses are my life...no body is more important then them :)

@luv4cascy
I agree. (: I've always wanted to try dessage. How is it?
My little colt bucks so it'd be impossible with him LOL :D
HunterJumper175 11 months ago
@ajlover16 you are clueless.. Im an English rider...Im NOT a snob...and my horses are my life and my everything...you must be a little kid who doesnt know the world for that comment. The western people can be just as heartless. I witnessed the worse abuse by a western rider that ended in the death of their horse before it could be stopped...we were kids trying to stop it...the horse ended up dragged in the back be ran behind a truck...so think before u talk

@ajlover16
And I just remebered something.
It wasn't over.
HunterJumper175 11 months ago
awesome video!

I think it's a shame how hard people ride these horses.
360deeman 1 year ago
ugh i hate people who jump with their horses just look at the pictures most of them are jumping acidents horses arn't made to jump 6 feet high over huge walls
Rebelsiouse 1 year ago
@Rebelsiouse i agree to an extent. i dont think horses should be jumping those crazy hwights, but i enjoy jumping with my horse as well, at reasonable heights. :)
IGotTheMagic97 1 year ago
@Rebelsiouse Haha it are much more injuries with western! Western people think it's "funny" when the horse bolts out, bucks, and it's seems like you also enjoy riding with terrible spurs, whipping the horse on the back with the reins and having extremly sharp bits. In english competitions you can get eliminated if you treat the horse bad!
sigridandbilly 1 year ago
@sigridandbilly i don't use spurs thank you , i have seen my share of english riders whith way biger leather wips hitting the horse over and over for no reson , sharp bit please explain this to me i have never seen a bit that is sharp and how can a bit be sharp? we don't think its funny its called breaking a horse which every horse thatis rideable has gone through
Rebelsiouse 1 year ago
@Rebelsiouse How a bit can be sharp? Are you kidding? Do you know anything about horses at all?

IN case we find ourselfs in a situation., our horse will jump for us.

if u ride english ur not a cowgirl.
Barrelracer4life8 1 year ago 8
@Barrelracer4life8 Are you on fucking crack ? You can have a fast horse and western saddle, that doesnt mean you're a cowgirl either, being a cowgirl, is listening to your horse, knowing when you're horse is in need of something, letting your horse shine every chance you get. i ride both western and english, and it takes alot of talent and courage to jump hights you never dreamed of run faster , than wind. most of all, knowing you could die everytime you sit in your saddle, but you still do it.

@BREYERKID Aha thanks (:
CaseyHorses 1 year ago

CaseyHorses 1 year ago
@hlorimor2 third time she was pretty sore and it was so cute she fell flat on her back, and the horse just stood over her, and she looked at him and said " ooh dusty.." and shakes her head :P gets back on and finishes her ride :P
CaseyHorses 1 year ago
@CaseyHorses completly true. I ride both saddles but don't ride in rodeos cause i am a ton better at English and take English riding lessons. But yeah, being a cowgirl means you listen to your horse, fly higher than you ever dreamed, outran the wind, know what your horse needs, getting back up when you fall off, and most importantly, you a cowgirl if you love your horse more than anything in the world
BreyerLoverHorsie78 1 year ago
@CaseyHorses in my opinion, all riders are cowgirls or cowboys no matter what they ride in, it all take skill

@CaseyHorses
I guess so! lolz and I bet you also agree that no dicipline is right? they're both about loving horses and bein who you are? :) that's how everyone should feel and we should all stop all this fightin.
HunterJumper175 8 months ago
@HunterJumper175 OMG yes 100% i ride both western and english ! so i dont see why everyone feels the need to fight, the funny part to me is that alot of people ignore the saddleseat&sidesaddle people, i guess cause they're not as big in the horse world. we need to stop looking at our differences, and start reilizing that we all have one simple thing in common, -somewhere along the way we all fell in love with that one horse <3

@Barrelracer4life8
If you ride western your not a Cowgirl. Your a western rider. The word COWgirl means just that. An affiliation with cattle, sorry spinning around a few barrels doesn't make you a cowgirl either.
queenluciaa 11 months ago
@queenluciaa hey i own 1000 head of cows AND i barrel race so that doesn't make me a cowgirl? i think you should grow some balls and learn that prancing around an arena doesn't make you a good rider :)
350fordchick 11 months ago
@350fordchick
Or do you want me to dumb it down a bit for you?
queenluciaa 11 months ago
@350fordchick
Also, your idea of english is absolutely biased. I take my horse on trail rides, gallops, runs as much as the next guy. As a matter of fact, I regularly gallop bareback. I'm sure you can't do that, because theres no training w
