This has nothing whatsoever to do with age. Whether you can hear it or not depends on what frequency your ears are able to hear, which is determined genetically. I am 35, and I've been able to hear this sound all my life. When I was in middle school, there were only 3 of us in my class who could hear when the TV came on (all televisions make this sound), and no one else could tell. This was a class of about 25 kids, all about 12-13 years old.

Again, NOTHING TO DO WITH AGE. Get a clue.

I can hear this and I'm 21. My grandfather just turned 70 and he can hear it. Nearly everyone in my family can hear the high pitch buzz of a fluorescent light bulb too. Some people get half-deaf as they get older, and some don't. This doesn't work on everyone.
