I don't even know how to reply to your take on 'pride'.  It doesn't make too much sense to me. I'll just say that it's really sad to see that governments actually sacrifice their own citizens' wellfare/life for the sake of hate. That's not pride- it's stupidity and cruelty. Again I don't get u. Aiding people is weakening them? This isn't a matter of taking off some training wheel- it's life and death. If I see a bleeding man, I don't stand by and say: well, I shouldn't help him. It'll just weaken him. It's absolutely a strange notion 2 me. Israel helps others not 2 get a nod from the international community, but because it's the right thing to do. Your last question shows that u may have some misinformation about Israel. I'm quite sure Israel will accept help if it was hit by a natural disaster. Italy did, Turkey did, India did- so why not Israel? Though Israel never experienced that, it had dealt with other disasters that took dozens of lives at a time. You can't really believe that Israel doesn't get help from other nations for this SENSITIVE purpose, including Arab and Muslim countries that offer genuine help.

And yes, Iranian students do communicate with students and politicians in Israel, they write to the Israeli media, get interviewed by Israeli news people and connect to the western world through the Israeli radio (short-wave).

It's very good that Israel is doing this, and it certainly reflects poorly on other rich nations that we haven't sent as much aid as fast as possible.

However, the comments attacking the Muslim nations come across as being based predominantly on anti-Arab racism. Something worth noting is that the various Just remember that Arabs themselves are just as kind and compassionate as anyone else, but they are often ruled by corrupt people.

Regardless of what my nation has done in the past, why should I feel any guilt? Did I do that? No. I have never knowingly persecuted or discriminated against anyone. Therefore I think I have every right to protest against what I perceive to be racism.

It's much more than just 'being ruled by corrupt people'. Actually, the Hamas was elected in a democratic process in Gaza (just as other horrific leaders in the recent history of Europe). Also, most people who commented mainly pointed out that the Muslim nations did almost nothing (aside from two who sent rescue teams) to help the Haitian people. This fact stands out very much considering that some of them also experienced natural disasters (Iran, Indonesia) and many others have loads of money.

The vast majority of people in most Arab nations are exceedingly poor by western standards. It is entirely possible that they simply couldn't spare as much as Israeli people. Or their governments simply didn't make as big a thing of the Haiti quake as Israel + the west.

I suppose my main problem was that most people were attacking Arabs solely, rather than criticising the various other nations that haven't done as much. I noticed there is little criticism of the various European nations.

Great on Israel! I don't understand why so many negative comments about U.S. disaster response. There are currently three Navy ships with large surgical capabilities providing support to this humanitarian mission. This is in addition to all sorts of other aid. Both Americans and Israelis can be proud of their participation in this disaster relief.

I agree with you. The US does help a lot. No question about it. The problem is the speed in which the US and other countries medically responded to a disaster of such great magnitude. It's all about medical first- response. Field hospitals are a whole specialty in the medical world. Israelis learned how to put those hospital together really fast and they share this skill of theirs with the world when someone is in need.

As I said before, big machines many times work slower, but still they work!
