It looks like you were using more effort with the sun chip bag, and you had it a bit closer to the meter. Remember the inverse square law... I'm not denying it might be a bit louder but you gotta tighten your standards a bit! Was an interesting test though.

my buddy bitched cause he can eat em at 2am without waking up his family, i got a good laugh so i bought one. i ate them before in the old bags.......but the new one is hilarious. jokes galore. i dont see WHY they dont turn it into their marketing slogan...."sun chips, so loud it drowns out the competition".

I like Sun Chips a lot (not a big chip fan in general). I thought the bag was an excellent idea! But I hate having them in my cabinet now!!! I rarely ever buy them. Great idea but ugh! I hope they do come up with a new quieter compostable version because my composter will be waiting. :)

I'm actually very disappointed in the decision by Frito Lays to discontinue producing their compostable bags. I feel the marketing department missed a major opportunity on this unintended design flaw. I suggested they harness the loudness and change their messaging to read, "If you want to change the environment, you need to be the one making the most noise!" Good luck Frito Lays! Despite the re-design, I'll still, and always will, continue to buy your chips! I love me some Sun Chips!

@spoonsell I hate to disappoint, but there's no scam and I'm certainly no artist. I re-ran the experiment with a closed bag of chips and the sound only changed by 3 decibels. I think you may have missed the humor in all of this.....check out the other 20+ videos on YouTube about this bag...they are all pretty funny. Thanks for posting!

I would suspect they just use plain metal foil. That simply rusts away in 14 weeks. I'm betting that's what they had prior to the invention of plastics.
