Strongly agree! Love "Fickle Sonance," still early but more transitional and of course "One Step Beyond" was a landmark. "Bluesnik" is killer from beginning to end, "It's Time" is amazing, and "New and Old Gospel" is a masterpiece. Love the stuff with Tina Brooks too. It's hard to believe it all sprang from the same horn. A musician's musician if ever there was one.
Jackie just made nothing but TREMENDOUS LPs for Blue Note during his 1st series of pilgrimages to the Van Gelder Studio. Capuchin Swing is fabulous throughout the entire vinyl pressing! Jackie's tone is at its' peak, his ideas are constantly refreshing to listen to, and I've gotta wonder why it is that more modern sax-folks aren't influenced by more by listening to his '60s B/N recordings...
