I remember that Upfront 8 comp and the whole series in general.I was around 13 at the time these comps came out and it was the only way to hear the latest imports! I also remember Upfront 9 having Triple x(aka Juan Atkins) - The Bedrrom Scene on it :)
i remember them too!...similar to the 'streetwave' comps concerning electro!...but what people forget that most of the classic obscure labels like 'Target Records' werent actually released in the uk at that time! thats why youre average joe bloggs aint familiar with artists such as Joe R Lewis, Bernard Badie, etc...The first real chicago release i ever saw over here was Mystery of LOve by Larry Heard n even then it was limited to 2 or 3 copies!
Agreed. You have to be a real mad Chi-house head(dare I say trainspotter?! lol)to know names like Joe Lewis, Marcus Mix, Fred Brown and Meldious Myles etc.
haha!...hey Leon, i think youve sussed me...im the biggest trainspotter you,ll ever know concerning chi-house!...anyway you can talk, youre one too dare i say it!...lol :)
its a case of we love what we do and give unsurmountable credit to those artists who make such innovative music!...now we must give some credit to our fellow uk artists too, SLF / SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT....JAILBREAK / FEELING WILD but to name a few!

I am indeed a trainspotter! LOL.
And you're right, oldschool UK artists never get the credit/respect that they deserve.
