People, stop comparing an ipad to this omg!!! An ipad should be compared to those android mobile phones and tablets (samsung galaxy for e.g) this one is a computer without the keyboard! :) the only thing that you should compare this to an ipad is the battery life!!! That's it!
I am waiting for 2 things in the slate tablet market. 1) i want microsoft to release a suitable OS for slate/tablets, one that's more appropriate for touch screens. and 2) I want the companies to improve battery quality, and i'm pretty sure there are several ways they can do that
@dilifromdili Obviously there are ways to improve battery life... they start off with short batter life to begin with and introduce a product. They will be upgrading soon - isn't that business 101 ? Makes sense, you can't have a perfect product.
@MULTIMEDlA First of all, there are certain reasons why the battery life on this is so bad. Second, one of the reason's apple is so successful is cus they appear to have the perfect product every time. I don't know how many reviews i've seen of iphones that the host is like, "If you thinking of getting one, you really should have no hesitation, i really don't see what they can improve on next year". It's like this, cus each year apple release a product that ticks all the boxes, but asus haven't
@dilifromdili There is no such thing as a perfect product, and if you have been following the iPhone, when it first came out - immediately it had faults. Even the iPhone 4 has many things that it can improve on ( and the obvious reasons are - BUSINESS) Please educate yourself. But seeing that you can't even spell I, as a capital letter, makes me think how well educated are you. If batter life bothers you get an external battery or wait for the next update... but it can't never be perfect. "2c"
@MULTIMEDlA i really have no respect for people with your attitude. If you read my reply you would have noticed that it said "appear." but im not going to waste my valuable time on such a petty issue with a ignorant idiot. Alpha, Mike, Foxtrot. Have a good life
despite the price, i think i am going to buy this device. compared to the HP Slate 500 ($800), the Hanvon slate ($900), and the Motion Computing J3500 ($2000 and up), i think this is the best device. i can't see any reason in buying another slate with more battery life when the device itself is a lacking in the performance. three hours actually turns out to be longer than you think. also the active digitizer with built in storage for the pen is a huge plus.
@instacheese the price is not too bad at all if you consider what a cintiq 12 costs... and they give you a lot of bang for your buck. Really, the only disappointment here is the battery. If you are painting digitally for hours, sure you can hook it up to a plug. But it wouldn't replace an ipad or other long life tablet (if they exist) simply because you couldn't be carrying it around the whole day.
@eightbraker Mhm, my iPad lasts for 11-12 hours and doesn't weigh a ton. Can't they just use the same batteries here? Or maybe the problem is that the OS sucks up too much energy?
@woshiprozzz I've found that with these new slate/tablet pc's running with intel processors. There is no throttling on the processor, as in it will always run at the max even when the max is not needed. Eg: if it is a 2GHz processor, it will always be running at 2GHz, so it will consume a lot of power.
copy apple iPad this sucks

#1 Can you use a mouse and keyboard with it?
#2 How great is the screen's brightness level?
#3 Can you use a device that configures a screen so that it displays the correct colors for print?

@PCHavoc You can use Keyboard and mouse via Bluetooth. It works. Not sure about your other questions.

This is a prime example of why MS needs to provide a dual boot system.
If they had one like WM7 ... and one that was Windows 7, you'd have the option of a powerful system, and a system that sips energy.
That type would beat an ipad any day.
jabberwolf 1 year ago
yes, but the ipad uses a mobile operating system, and its cpu does not suck as much power, but it it still no where near as powerfull!

3 hour battery life is a big disappointment on what is indeed a very nice machine. I should be able to work on this for at least 6 hours...
umbra682000 1 year ago 12
@umbra682000 You cant even afford this machine... Don't comment unless you have the funds to purchase
LICKPIMP 1 year ago
@umbra682000 there would be external battery, but what do you expect, a 6 cell battery would make it weigh a ton.

@umbra682000 Its probably because of the core i5 chip inside it. Its consuming too much power but is very responsive.
