@shreddamon if you look around youll find them for 400 to 350 bucks, i found lots of them, but vx1000 and gl1s, unless your going for a gl2 or vx2100 then its hard to find them for even 500, unless you go hd, theyy always go from 1500 to up, hard ass hell to find cheap ass ones, i wish, but those cameras are more worth it

@javieralza well yeah and no, shitty quality is usually produced by the wrong rendering formats and saving the video with low quality compression to minimize the file size of the video. In my case, I edited with sony vegas and rendered the video 480i .avi, compressed nstc dv, which is the native format of the footage, not 1080p HD Mpeg 4 lol

@tangofizz77 presets are custom settings to set colors and contrast directly from the camera. The thing is the camera is bad under low light and glitches will appear eventually. So I would invest in something not so old. But the colors are amazing.

@Ubbb09 if you are concerned with that, i suggest you try to at least attempt to get a vx2000, its worth it. cause I bet you'll sell your vx1k for a 2000 later on. and its very high quality with no edit. but the vx1k is very high quality and so, just soo many problems to deal with and lcd just is delightful.

I know that heads get dirty when you capture but what happens to the heads? and what can you do to get them cleaned?

@SGKproductions09 if too much lubricant from the tape gets on the heads, it gets dirty and can't communicate correctly with the tape, causing dropouts, if you want them cleaned, get a head cleaning tape and use it for 10 seconds and don't use it too much, it wears down the heads.

Well mainly because the VX has delicate heads and when you capture you are running through the heads by playing and rewinding and stuff. The heads will eventually get dirty or ruined because it's an old camera.

Well yeah I guess but I mean that the heads get worn out and then you would probably have to get it repaired. It's never happened to me though, just buy a sony head cleaning tape and run it once you see any glitch or dropout in your footage and the camera will be good and don't reuse tapes ever.
