The founding fathers did not want "ecclesiastical courts". Literally at one time people were tried by Church courts for crimes against God.
NOTHING is illegal unless there is a law against it. A law starts off as a bill, the bill is proposed and voted on by Congress, then the President signs or vetos the bill.

If religious institutions like the Catholic Church didn't oppose the use of condoms, less people would get infected anyway.
If everyone listened to God, on the other hand, we would still be owning slaves and killing people who work on Saturdays... I say we better not.

Funny how they spin the poll thing. They never tell you that MOST PEOPLE WHO WERE ACTUALLY POLLED OR SURVEYED think such and such. They always spin to "Most Americans" even though "Most Americans" weren't actually polled or surveyed. If 20,000 people were polled on a certain subject and 12,000 leaned one way or the other, how does that represent "MOST AMERICANS" in general? I could poll 20 thousand people with similar point of view, does that mean 300 million of us think the same?

First: The bible has been translated through many languages, you know when a sentance can be iterpreted two completely different ways, or when an old sentance doesn't mean the same thing as a newer one? (Like the term "Gay" for example)
