I don't need to go back to my ancestors for these marvels!! I myself was around. I was born in 1935 so at that time I was around 12! Marvelous times, although the 40's brought tragedy for the world with WW2 . But for us lucky Latin Americans (I'm a Peruvian in Peru) War did not affect us. It brought walth. Peru is blessed as one of thegreat repositories in the world of raw materials! The 40's were wonderful for South America!
I still never tire to hear of her fantastic stories of her experiences in the ballet. She has lost some of her grace, but she still has the heart of a dancer.
Milada Mladova is my great grandmother. I think it is so interesting to see her when she was younger, and its so cool to hear how she traveled the world as a famous ballerina. Its truly amazing.
@MegaAwesomenessful She is an absolutely spellbinding dancer. I couldn't believe there is nothing about her life in Wikipedia. I have never seen anyone dance like her. She really is amazing.
The first time I saw this movie, I was 12 years old and watched it with my father. I will never forget him saying this was the most beautiful version of "Begin the Beguine" he had ever heard. Years later, we saw it again together...I was now 25 and we watched it night before my wedding in 1980. I aranged for the DJ at the reception to play this from the sound track for my father & I to dance to together. Da passed away suddenly 8 months afterwards...and I still tear up when I hear this!
@irishtaz44017 OMG your comment brought tears to my eyes. Such special memories of your dad. My dad showed me this movie too a few years ago, and my mum sent me this link where I saw your comment. Thanks for sharing your lovely memories.
This one is my ALL TIME FAVOURITE. Something about the setting, palm trees, dancers . Best version ever. Brought tears to my eyes watching it. Thank you YouTube - you are the greatest.
@gettingon100 Surprisingly, this video brought tears to my eyes as well. For me, the stirring vocal by Carlos Ramirez is evocative of an era that will most likely never be captured on film again....all the more reason to cherish and appreciate film clips like these when you are fortunate enough to find them! Enjoy!
her name is Milada Mladova; born oklahoma city usa october 1921. what a fabulous ballerina! information from google using the film title as the research tool. thank you google
My lifetime favorite since I was a child, now I am 72. Beautiful music from the master mind of Cole Porter. The voice of my fellow countryman gone in 1986 but always remembered, Carlos Julio Ramirez.. Thanks for uploading this masterpiece.
Que bella música y que voz la de Carlos Julio Ramirez, tenor colombiano fallecido en 1986. La epoca romántica y la composición magistral de Cole Porter cantada en tantos idiomas ! Gracias por tener esto disponible para todos.
I'm completely mesmerized with the superb ballet choreography! Unfortunately, we'll never see the likes of this artistry in our generation. I love the rendition of Carlos Ramirez very much. Thank for uploading!!
Thank you vebatelli for re-submitting this video. The Great Mr Carlos Ramirez is superb! There are a few later videos that display his truly magnificent singing - Besame Mucho, Te Quiero Dijiste. Absolutely marvellous!
Esta composición de Cole Porter fue (según yo) inspiración del tema "Payasito" que tan famoso se hiso en la década de los 60's, 70's, en la voz de Enrique Guzmán.
É o João Wlamir que está dançando neste dueto?

Just double checked. There ARE pages on the web, with many photos of Mlle. Mladova. Enjoy.

Tears too. You can't help it when you have timeless music coupled to sublime dancing. No, they don't do that anymore, but how I wish they did.

Preciosa secuencia de la pelicula " Noche y Dia " sobre la vida de Cole Porter

I saw this movie once. I thought Alexis Smith was very beautiful. They seemed to have played down Porter's homosexuality, though.

Despite it's total revisionist history of his life, you just KNOW ol' Porter probably liked the spectacle of this version-- especially the "gaucho"!

This is so good lost it a couple of years past. Total nonsense but brilliant nonsense.
