I don't think Morrissey has the slightest idea how good the rhythm section of Rourke / Joyce were...such solid drumming is not common...not now, not then...they deserve every penny...
I was looking the entire song to see finally what´s the strange sound after the drum ending, and all we can see is the handycam going down... I will never know... :(
@greyagain Craig Gannon - he was dafted in to play rhythm whilst Johnny Marr just basically rocked out and played his lead and pickey bits. Craig Gannon was also part of Aztec Camera
For all those Smiths fans saying that Mike Joyce is no good...Here's a Proof of his killer drumming...and he does that on many live/studio Smiths tracks...so please show some respect to him as well is all I'm saying!!!
@NoNoseProduction Uh, they do have a firmly placed foot in Punk, but Iggy Pop was more the godfather. He was doing it 15 years earlier. For the record, The Smiths made the 1980s -- incredible band.
when i first heard the recording of this, i thought, "theres no way the crazy drum part is real." As it sounds like someone else is hitting the symbols But watching this has shown me what an great drummer Mike Joyce was!
Brilliant mate, Rank is a fantastic album, listening to the smiths live is just a completely unique experience. I can't imagine what watching them live would be like.
Hey U absolutley right about Mike and Andy. I also hate the fact that everyone talks about Moz and Marr. They are great musicians lots of respect to all of them.
How amazing is Mike Joyce's drumming at the end of that song!!! Up-most respect to him for that + he's a nice guy in real life, i hate the way people bring him and Andy Rourke down.
this footage is incredible. i've been looking any video recordings of the rank show. can you upload the entire show. there are'nt too sources out here in los angeles. this makes my year. thanks

So, is that what Morrissey looks like in a fight?
If so, he probably loses.
But that's okay, because he would surely out-dance his competition anytime.

I really wish the smiths would of made more songs like this uptempo rockin kind.

@greyagain During their tour for their third album they very wisely employed a second guitarist as all the tracks were multi-layered

check the cover of London by Anthrax, of course it can't match the original version, but i think it's quite speedmetal-ish
